    Excellent video. Most people don't know realize the importance of the water pressure reducing valve and just ignore it. My pressure was creeping up to the 90 psi range. After rebuilding the regulator with a rebuild kit, I was able to dial it in right at 50 psi.

    The video was essential for installing the repair kit. In my case, the spring, spring cap, and parts of the diaphragm cover were rusted so it was very hard to remove the internal bolt! It would greatly help if Wilkins would put tabs or something for a channel lock to grip while loosening that bolt. Aside from that, the repair went smoothly and the valve was good as new when finished. This kit can save you lots of money in labor if you're a do-it-yourselfer!

      Thank you for your comments! Our Product Manager says: "We are definitely considering reparability into all of our designs and the next generation will be even easier to repair. The model 70XL is a decades old design but a contractor favorite based on its extremely stable performance making it one of the most popular valves today. Our newer PRV's such as the model NR3XL use a cartridge design that makes the valve even easier to repair. On the 70XL we do offer a Sealed Cage (SC) option that converts all the hardware in the upper bell assembly to stainless steel, this would greatly reduce the corrosion you noticed."

    It seems the 70DU is discontinued and the 70XL doesn’t come in 1 1/4 size.
    The 70DU 1 1/4 size and larger seems to have a different design and parts then the smaller versions. Any repair guide for this model?

    The plumbing code for a residence requires less than 80 psig intake static pressure. If you use toilets with flushometer valves like I do, the minimum pressure is 65 psig. This caused me to select a model 70 rated for 75/25. Minimum aperture is 1 inch. All valves and the model 70 must be full throat.

    For model 70XLDU repair kit, is the cartridge made of plastic or fully metal? I read some buyers that it is plastic now.

    I have a Wilkins three-quarter inch regulator 1417 r i’m having trouble finding a rebuild kit for it it looks like Zurn owns Wilkins now. I was hoping to find a way to cross reference my old regulator to The new parts that would fit it. Thank you 3:11 3:11

      Hello, it's possible that you are looking at the production date & not the model number. If you look at the side of the valve, it should have the Model number listed between the two pipe connections.
      If you need more assistance finding this number, please reach out to Zurn Customer Care.

    What are the required wrench/socket sizes? What tool is being used to hold the disk?

    • @ZurnIndustries
      @ZurnIndustries  4 роки тому +4

      The Model 70XL will require a socket, in the following sizes, in order to remove the cartridge from the body of the valve.
      4. ½” 70XL - 1-1/8”
      5. ¾” 70XL - 1-1/8”
      6. 1” 70XL - 1-3/8”
      The video shows a simple 3D model, intended to represent a hand, holding the diaphragm in pace while tightening the retainer bolt. For more information or troubleshooting support, please feel free to reach out to our staff @ 855-ONE-ZURN.

    Please dont use the word downstream use intake and outlet into house. Downstream is misleading to me.
