New for 2020 Gotrax has released an electric commuting scooter which at under $400 looks to be a serious competitor in the e-scooter game. Boasting an 18 mile per charge range, this electric scooter is set to beat out (or cannibalize) it siblings, the Gotrax XR and XR Ultra. The Gotrax XR series is the newer, sleeker designed electric commuting scooter from Gotrax...the upgrae from their original GXL models, the V1 and V2.
In this unboxing of the GOTRAX XR ELITE COMMUTING ELECTRIC SCOOTER you'll find the scooter itself, charger, allen key, control console as well as the user's manual and quick guide. The assembly process is fairly straight forward with one major difference, The battery does not live in the till, but rather it resides under the deck creating a more centered and balanced electric scooter. I was able to assemble the scooter in about 20 minutes (and that's me being super careful as i often tend to break new things when assembling them), but you should be able to get it done in about 15 minutes.
Could the GOTRAX XR ELITE COMMUTING ELECTRIC SCOOTER be the best electric scooter of 2020? Well it's certainly one of the more affordable ones. But to find out, I will be conducting my own review of this scooter which you can find here (once i complete it)

I'm so glad I found this video! Just got my Elite and there were no instructions as to how to connect the wiring. I know it's not rocket science, but for a newbie to scooters, I didn't want to break anything so your tips on connecting the three wires & packing them back into the till were very helpful. GoTrax is lax in providing that in their manual. Thank you!

Hello. Received mine today.. unboxed, assembled, charged, and NOTHING. It turns on, lights work, but doesn’t go... ya think they forgot to connect the battery to the motor?...

Well I just got my XR Ultra 4 days ago. Seem solid, but some scratches and got into bad customer service but yeah, it is running fine

Are you aware if it has regenerative braking like the ultra and can the battery in the deck be replaced by the owner?
I do believe that there is regenerative braking integrated into the brake handle. Not sure if the battery in deck is replaceable. Waiting to see if Gotrax puts up a battery on their site. Are you considering buying an XR series?
Jason Alicea yeah. want to get the elite if the battery can be replaced once it goes bad. If not, that’s kind of a deal breaker

Great video. I’m wanting to get one of these scooters as well, but I’m concerned about the narrow handlebars and how they would handle. It would seem that the wider they are, the more stable. What’s your thoughts on that? Thanks.

Hey Bro. Nice video. I just ordered a XR Ultra from GoTrax can't wait to ride my scooter. I see in you description that you say that XR Elite came to beat out you even write "cannibalise" its siblings XR and XR Ultra. I see that the only difference between Ultra and Elite is that Ultra has a 7.0AH battery and Elite a 7.8AH that provide 2 extra miles of range, however the XR Ultra has a LG battery that is widely known for having better performance than a normal Chinese unbranded battery and also performing better holding charges over time. My opinion is, that is misleading saying that one scooter is cannibalizing other without checking the facts.
Hear you on the fact checking. But I think the elite battery may actually be an LG also.
Elite also has a threaded cable through the tiller and bigger deck... And battery is in the deck... Possibly more stable..... And (not a huge Deal) but a tail light

Just received mine about an hour ago. Just seen ur video and it's been a great help thanks, I wanna join the facebook now lol. I plugged mine in but it turned green within about 10min. I didnt want to over charge my xr elite so I unplugged it and have been riding it. Do u think the battery should be ok or do I charge it 4hrs although its green already with 4 bars from first plug in??

Does the charger not have surge protection? Something I’d expect from any manufacturer selling $400 scooters in 2020. Disconnecting it every four hours sounds inconvenient, you don’t think?
Wassem Ali I think that the $400 goes mainly into the scooter not so much into the charging technology. Anyway I know it’s an inconvenience but a small price to pay for a pretty decent scooter for the price
All scooters should be UL-2272 certified to make sure they don't have electrical or battery issues. Do you know if the Elite has this certification?
My XRE is coming in Friday. Are you able to use a phone mount on the handlebar? It looks like there’s nowhere to put it in the middle.
Just buy a bar extender for more space.

Why would they take such a beautiful design make it so complicated.. and honestly with all those reflectors long cable sticking out it's actually much uglier... but awesome review you did a great job... and it's crazy they did all that just because of that little front heavy
Thanks appreciate the kind words. Yeah the design is a bit aggressive I think. The reflectors definitely could've been a bit more Stream lined. I do like the brake cable threading in and out of the holes in the tiller. Overall I think it's a good product. Do u own one? Or previous model?
@@riisparklover the ultra ... I wish the ultra had the brake cable set up the elite has ..i just loved the gotrax design with the thin deck and battery in the neck.guess im stuck in my old ways.
@@Jack.jr. totally hear you with the brake cable. It is a nice addition. I do kind of like the fatter deck. Battery positioning feels no different. But maybe that's because I was dealing with an older v1 model which has a lighter battery in the till while this elite has a bigger heavier body in the deck. Both v1 and my new elite feel well balanced. I think that right now, Gotrax is still kind of in its infancy in the E scooter game... Maybe toddler stage lol. They are still making big changes in design

I'm trying to decide between the gotrax elite and the g4. Ive watched a bunch of videos and done a ton of research but I still can't decide. Does anyone have suggestions?
Go for the elite
If it's in your budget, go for the G4 unless you don't usually keep things for many years. Even if you don't take advantage of the extra range and speed, batteries degrade over time so assuming you lose 5 miles of range per year ( random number for example) then you still have 20 mile range with the G4 vs 13 miles on the Elite. Another thing to consider is weight if you plan to carry it a lot. More range/speed = more weight.
