As usual Dr Tala .. I’m from Egypt .. I actually saw many cases with CDH .. and unfortunately most of them didn’t survive … thanks a lot knowing the prognostic points for CDH Can’t wait for part 2 ❤
Thank you so much (my Arabic not great- is it Ibrahim?) We aim to be simple and informative- so that was a lovely compliment!! Thank you for subscribing too :)
@@TalaTalksNICU Thank U for responding on my comment Dr.Tala. I'm looking forward to the next lecture with interest .. All greetings to U from Egypt :)
Hello Karim- so happy you find the videos informative. We're trying to figure out how to run a ventilator lecture with the actual vents- so can be as helpful as possible. We'll get to it soon- we promise!!
What about if CDH is detected earlier? My rainbow baby was diagnosed just the other day, at my 13 week ultrasound. :( Not sure yet how many organs are up there, but I'm assuming a lot as his heart is pushed all the way to his right side... they could see stomach and maybe intestines up there at this stage. :( Waiting for the MRI at 22 weeks feels unbearable after what we've already been through, having had a full-term stillbirth last time.
Oh I’m so sorry- so sad about your previous baby- and now you’re going through this. That is just not right. The abnormality for all CDHs is made in the first trimester- the prognosis really depends on how everything progresses. We wish you the best possible outcome xx
@sarahjanedhel1556 Hi! Im so sorry to hear about your baby’s diagnosis. My daughter just turned one in May and has CDH. We received the diagnosis at our 20 week anatomy scan. My daughter was an extremely severe left-sided case, with almost every organ up including 30% of her liver. We were given an extremely poor prognosis (10% chance of survival, 8+ month long nicu stay, and they suggested termination due to her severity) in our home state (Arizona) so we temporarily relocated to Florida (Johns Hopkins All Childrens Hospital) where they have an entire CDH team and floor. After reviewing our ultrasounds and MRIs, they gave our baby a 90-95% chance of survival and told us they fully expect her to live a normal, healthy life. Dr Kays is a pediatric surgeon who know ONLY works with CDH babies because it’s his specialty. This center sees some of the most severe cases in the nation and still has a 90%+ survival outcome. My daughter was in the NICU for two months but is now absolutely THRIVING and you would never ever know she had any medical complexities at all. Please know there is hope for your baby! There are facebook support groups you can join and I’m always willing to chat with ANY diagnosed mom and answer any questions you have. I’ll be thinking of you guys!
Going through this now with one twin. 17 weeks and they said stomach up and heart pushed slightly right, I could see on the ultrasound it looked as though his heart was right and forward, stomach just behind - they haven’t told us anything else and waiting for a referral (we’re U.K.) to a different hospital. It feels like an age.
