Thank you for your great review of one of my favorite lenses. I like the 18-135 lens because of its wide range of focal length, 18 is wide enough for group shots and 135 is a good distance zoom. It is also light in weight and easy to carry along for travel or street photography. Sharpness is good, not great, but with the use of Lightroom, sharpness and clarity could easily be enhanced. The Image Stabilization is very helpful for handheld shots and can compensate for the use of a slower shutter speed needed in dark surroundings or indoors. I have the first version of this lens and I paired it with my 50D. It was a great match and I hardly took it off this camera.

Hi Adnan, thanks for your question. Maybe another reader has experience with the Tamron 18-200 and could make a comment. I don't know anything about it. It certainly has more reach than the Canon 18-135. Both the Canon 18-135mm lens and the Tamron 18-200mm(Canon Mount) will work well with the Canon 800D (Canon t7i in USA).

Hi George, yes it can work fine for indoor photography, but it is not a "fast" lens in itself, so it is not ideal for low light photography, which you may encounter during indoor photo shoots. It really depends on how much natural light exist, if interior lights are bright, or if you're shooting with flash. Newer cameras shoot really good quality using high ISO camera settings too.
Perhaps one of the EF "L" lenses, like the 24-105mm f/4.0 II (www.canoncamerageek.com/canon-24-105-lens.html) which won't give you as wide of a view, or the 16-35mm f/2.8 III which won't go near as long.
You can control the amount of blur that the background will have using any lens in several ways. 1. Using a telephoto setting. 2. Have the background be a large distance from the subject. 3. Having the subject close to the camera. 4. Using the widest aperture of the lens as possible. See this post: www.better-digital-photo-tips.com/what-is-depth-of-field.html

You'll probably want a wide angle zoom that goes super wide and less zoom range to minimize distortion, such as the 10-18mm lens. The best quality would be had by using a prime lens.
Hi Bikramjeet, You can think of the S in the EF-S lenses as meaning "small" so the EF-S lenses, like the 18-135, only fit on the smaller "crop" APS-C sensors, not the full frame Canons. Here is a short video to help you understand: ua-cam.com/video/VNte9AIUvQc/v-deo.html
Thanks for your comment @iron man. The 24-105 is a great lens. For me, with the 1.6x crop that comes along with using the 90D, that narrower angle of view being equivalent to a 38mm to 168mm, it's not wide angle enough to be a general purpose zoom lens for me.
@@BruceLovelace-Canon agree, and it's absolutely fantastic lens . I think for price what 18-135 coast is a must have lens in every camera bag.. I have 90d and all what is missing in this camera for me,is unlimited recording and just a hair better dynamic range.
I had the 2nd version of this lens in about 2013 & used it with my 60D. It was a fun lens and great to learn on. I had considered getting another apsc cam as a walk around but nowadays I'd have to go with one of the RF mount cameras like the R7 or R10. I just picked up 2 solid lenses for my R5 & R6. Can I use it with canon full frame camera
No
Hi Bikramjeet, You can think of the S in the EF-S lenses as meaning "small" so the EF-S lenses, like the 18-135, only fit on the smaller "crop" APS-C sensors, not the full frame Canons. Here is a short video to help you understand: ua-cam.com/video/VNte9AIUvQc/v-deo.html
You can use with EOS R with an adapter.
Is this lens good for canon camera Eos 750D?
Yes, this lens will work perfectly with the Canon 750D (t6i)
Bruce Lovelace thanks
@@qjexperiments1102 You're welcome!
I'm using it with my Ls3/250d canon
Great
! Thank you!
i liked youer vidoe
Thank you!
i think canon 24-105 mark ii f4 is better option for 90d
Thanks for your comment @iron man. The 24-105 is a great lens. For me, with the 1.6x crop that comes along with using the 90D, that narrower angle of view being equivalent to a 38mm to 168mm, it's not wide angle enough to be a general purpose zoom lens for me.
@@BruceLovelace-Canon agree,and it's absolutely fantastic lens .
The RF 70-200 2.8L to replace my beloved EF 70-200 2.8L IS III
And the RF 100 2.8L IS Macro to replace my Tamron 90 2.8 G2 Macro.
The "kit lens" makes me nostalgic for when I was learning. I Couldn't justify $600 for that 18-135 but, under $300 is fair.
Thanks for your comment. I'm getting the R7 shortly! 🙂
@Bruce Lovelace When the R6ii is back in stock I'm going to pick one up
@@njrivetelite That's a great camera!
You can very easily modify that lens to use on fullframe and speedbooster
Thanks for the info
The Canon lenses people talk about are actually fantastic lenses and great glass. It's the crappy Rebel cameras people put them behind like their Rebels. I have the Canon 55-250mm on my Sony a6000 and that sucker shoots like a freakin Ziess. You WILL NOT be disappointed in this lens for sure.
Thanks AP Dallas Photography
T7i body is not bad at all for this lens or 55-250mm. I have both and it shoots awesome pics.
@@Food-is_Life Makes it a telephoto zoom with some good firepower!
is this good for my canon 80d
Yes it is, because the 80D has the same size sensor. Good luck! thanks, Bruce
@@BruceLovelace-Canon here's my question i have the 16-35 L series lens and the nifty fifty do i buy the 18-135 and the 55-250 and the 15-85 and the 24mm pancake lens for my canon 80d or i don't need all of them 6 lens is enough right and if i already have a crop sensor camera do i need to buy a full frame camera as well i'm just asking so that i don't make a mistake and waste my money
@@crayshaunhenderson1265 You've got quite a few choices I'd say. It depends on your total budget, what you shoot, and how much you want to carry along with you.
I use Canon 750d with this lens, and pictures are werry good.
Glad it's working well for you!
this lense is hard to find i sold my camera but kept the lense
Hard to find?
Thanks
No problem
traded my insta360 one Rs for a canon EOS 80D and this lens want to try photography as a new hobby
Thanks for your comment
I have one of this lens. The sharpness is not that great. It isn't as sharp as my Canon 75-300mm lens.
Sorry to hear that
Omg ! Stop complaining about this lens ! It’s an amazing lens !
It's certainly versatile.
S/be the Sigma 17-50mm lens.
Right
Ok well
It’s not showed to be a 1.8 price either
Truth!
Omg Al zoom lens have a full open and full closed !!!!!!
Truth!
Focus is so nosey for video
Yup
It is not the sharpest lens
Agreed George, it's definitely a good lens, not a great lens in terms of it's sharpness. I've found it more than sharp enough to shoot portraits for my clients and landscapes for my own purposes, but for the ultimate out of camera sharpness, the Canon L lenses are the sharpest.
Non sense..
Thanks for the valuable feedback, Ed
18-135 miliLiters 😂
Thanks for your response.
