  • Ripping down some oversized Ash firewood blocks with the Makita chainsaw. Then Rachel splits them fast and easy with the All Wood Muscle Wood splitter using the 6 Way wedge. Making home heating wood great again! Don’t miss the end of the video for some funny outtakes!

      Del I couldn’t argue with you on that but Rachel says she’s just the sidekick lol. I thought I had some really nice footage of her breaking a few of the bigger splits down but must have hit the stop button on accident while filming 😞. Ever since we got the new splitter she hardly lets me run it 😂.

    I said it before, I’ll say it again: Rachael is a doll AND I really enjoy the on camera relationship you two enjoy (because it mages your viewers enjoy, too). As far as the Allwood - it’s a beast!

      @@craigwilson9560 Years ago, I used to be scared of the idea of a log splitter before I actually ran one. I just didn’t understand how they worked. Now I have respect for the power of the machine and enjoy using it. Stacking wood can be great exercise! At least she’s out there with you.😊

    That ash popped good too. I love how stable that all wood is when it does pop. I’ve shot a few out on the front when the WR does that. Only the chunks that go over the wedge have ever shot upwards. Good video 👍👍

    Makita, is it a 7900? I have Dolmar 7300 and Makita 6400 that has had big bore engine .
    What is brand on pickaroon? Looks like works well.
    Good job on the big ash. Have several that size or larger. Sure would be nice to have a real log splitter. Maybe some day.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому +1

      Steve it is the 6401 but I put an oem top end from a 7900 on it and that made a world of difference! I still need to lean it out a little I believe but want to get a tachometer so I don’t go too far and have to re build it. The Hookaroon is an Ochsenkopf OX 172 SCH-0500. I bought it off Amazon and it’s been my favorite by far.

      Yeah, she realized later that she should have adjusted it down. This was her first time running the 6 way. Running the 8 way we ran a lot of similar sized rounds through it so it didn’t need much adjustment. That 6 way with the big rounds definitely needs to be moved though.

      Kevin, we have yet to run them side by side. It is hunting season here in Michigan so we have been busy hunting and running our tracking dog helpings others locate their deer. They will be coming though. Trying to stock up enough similar rounds to run multiple splitters for a fair comparison.

    After 50 years of firewood cutting there are three tools you should know about. They are: Hookeroon, Pickeroon and Pike. I realize you are young and industructable, but these tools will save your back. Shalom/gw

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  Рік тому

      Thank you. I have the first two and will look up a Pike. Always looking for the best tools to get the job done safely and efficiently. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @googleboy7
      @googleboy7 Рік тому +1

      I discovered the Pike a few years back. Mine is a 4' aluminum pole with a twisted spike in one end. The Hookeroon and Pickeroon do well with rounds, but not so much with split pieces. That's where the pike comes in. It allows you to handle split wood almost like bailing hay. The point of these tools is to save your back. I found out too late that the human back is not an intifinate use resource. Sooner or later it sweats out. The tools help postpone the inevitable. Shalom/gw
