- Het Steen is a historic medieval fortress located in the city of Antwerp, Belgium. It is one of the oldest buildings in Antwerp, dating back to the early Middle Ages. The fortress served various purposes throughout its history, including as a defensive structure, a prison, and a residence for nobility.
Originally constructed in the 13th century, Het Steen underwent several renovations and expansions over the centuries. The fortress played a significant role in defending Antwerp from invasions and attacks, particularly during the Middle Ages when the city was a prominent trading centre in Europe.

Hi Alessa & Brett, I loved how you filmed the approach to the castle with the epic music in the background. It really highlighted the magnificence of the castle. The history of fashion in the city sounded very interesting and I enjoyed your tour of the tapestry room. The views of the river and city from the top of the castle were fantastic. Oh my, the story of the cabbage boy turning into a mischievous giant was fun... and rather unsettling! 😱 Thank you for a really cool vlog! ❤😊

Wow what a place,, i visited Antwerp back in the 90s, remember the curtain wall and the castle face,,so iconic. thank you for the wonderful tales of the giant and seeing what Antwerp now has to offer great video

Ooo never heard of Antwerp the name makes us smile! The dark period sounded brutal with all the killing! The museum displays were impressive! Wow those views over the port! The tapestry of the paint coming from the fingers to portray his painting talent was incredible! A giant parsley and cabbage that turns into a baby to then go onto a shapeshifting giant with a menacing laugh 😱 this is a very scary storey but great 👍 reasonably priced at €7 enjoyed this visit with you guys! ❤️

Liked the entrance to the castle looks very impressive as you walk up to it. So much information in the museum, the tapestry and artwork is great.

Thank you for this interesting video! I had not really thought about going to Antwerp. Just this week I've decided that I would like to spend my 60th birthday in Belgium! It's the end of August... "birthday in Belgium" has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? And I can celebrate with chocolate, waffles, and fries! 🍫🧇🍟
