Prior to the commissioning of Dangote Refinery, the expectation was that the pump price of fuel would fall after commissioning. But instead we are witnessing a situation where there is escalation in pump price. This expectation is based on the fact that crude was sold to Dangote in Naira. Secondly the 650,000 bbls capacity of the Refinery was enough to meet local consumption. Nigeria is indeed a wonderful country where government exploits the ignorance and poverty of the masses to believe the unbelievable for thier selfish end. President Tinubu, who doubles as the commander in Chief and petroleum Minister should call the cartel at NNPC to order and revert to the pump price before pre-commissioning of Dangote Refinery.
I read that the government was going to ask Mr Dangote to set the price of the fuel. That sounds positive as there are no import costs (duty, tariffs etc) to consider. Hopefully that will keep the costs down.
Life is unbearable
