"The perfect ending doesn't exist" Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Let me *shine a light on your Melancholy Path* ... But seriously, I think the reason why Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has such a perfect ending is because of how emotionally attached you become to the characters. You've watched them grow together, support each other, and learn from each other, through every chapter of the game. You've seen their highs and lows. They may not be of the same blood or genetics, but they treat each other as more than just friends. They're like a family. If everyone in the world could be like Rex and his friends, we wouldn't be living in such disarray.... But then again, that's just wishful thinking. Not everyone is that sentimental. EDIT: This song "One Last You" is just as good as "Beyond the Sky" from Xenoblade Chronicles 1...

The way one last you just gives off a bittersweet tone, but then just gives this beautiful twist in the end it's like we understand how Pyra and Mythra truly feel about Rex and we see how he has made his friends so happy, but he's not. So all that Pyra and Mythra want is just more time with him to make him happy and love him. XC2's ending just showcases not every story has to end in tragedy. "One Last You"- A wish to be with the one you love turning a moment of despair into a big happy moment of love.

When I played this game in 2020, I had a rough start in my new school, I was outcasted and bullied because of some misunderstandings in my class and people who said they wanted to help me backstabbed me more. I remember it was the semester break and I had this game unopened on my shelf, decided to try and I remember the first few hours were vexing because I didn’t know how to combat and the story seemed weird, but many of the lessons and psychological battles gave me hope for my life and I can safely say I was inspired and much more happier since then
2:55 And so the last day with you was truly magical The frozen time began to flow At last the longest night has gone and brought in light These line is suites really the xenoblade 3 ending
Iv been thinking that as well and then there was the ending song of the first “beyond the sky” and what happened in 2? We went beyond the sky into space then “one last you” seems to fit so well with xenoblade 3 I doubt this was intentional
Very end, of eternity The final day has come to an end, it's gone for good. I would then slowly close my eyes, and be cuddled by a shining memory piece. I will trace back, all the memories with you. That's the only wish, I have... The last day with you, was truly magical. The frozen time began to flow. At last the longest night, has gone and brought in light. I felt to myself melt in the morning light. The final grain of sand has dropped. I will slowly, so quietly, fall in to sleep. I see you gently fade away. Your silhouette has gone, the other side of the mist. And all the memories, with no sound so quiet. Just like in slow motion, it moves so slowly... And so the last day with you was truly magical. The frozen time began to flow. At last the longest night, has gone and brought in light. I felt to myself melt in the morning light. You have gifted many things to me. But I wonder if, I could have done the same for you? If you would let me, I will give back a handful. If it could put a little smile on your face... Can I ask you God? Despite all of this... Could the sandglass, somehow take back the time? One last night, is all I ask from you. Can you please, spare me a time, with the one that I love? I wouldn't care how and where it should be, but I need one last time. I wanna tell you, how I, feel inside for you... I want you know...

This ending gives me 1 billion swift jabs to the feels. The rollercoaster of emotions this game brings you on am I right? Now if only I can watch this video without crying...... ;-;
For everyone saying the ending where they come back doesn't make sense, it (to me) makes perfect sense. The architect gave pneuma all of his "power" over core crystals or whatever, making it seem like pneuma shouldn't really lose their memories since she has all the data about the world. I know this was a shitty explanation but if you've seen the entire ending you get where I'm coming from
That is exactly what happens though. Rex has Pnuema's core crystal along with the architect's data (All knowledge and power of the world) and he just simply resonates with them again. But since the conduit is gone, Pneuma most likely perished and with the knowledge from the architect, Pyra and Mythra can become two different beings. This is how I think about it and I am super happy about it haha.
So I just finished this game and it really surprised me. I picked it up before lockdown and thought the cover art looked cool so I decided to get it and I had no idea it was a launch game for switch until now. I played for a little bit but put it down because I found the combat difficult to pick up and hated how the game was handholding me for a good long while. However once the game ‘clicked’ with me and the combat became more layered I just couldn’t put it down. I just think it’s amazing how I went from not liking the game at all to loving it so much by the end.Xenoblade 2 is such an underrated gem imo.
Did you by any chance play the first game first? Xenoblade 2 alone is a really good game, but if you play the 1st game before the 2nd, it really does make the 2nd games ending a masterpiece due to all the connections between the two games.
@@DuffCallan I haven't played the first game at all but I have now bought the definitive edition for switch. I never played it when the original came out but I'm soon gonna start definitive edition
@@becky4194 Sweet! And once you beat Definitive Edition, I highly recommend rewatching all of Chapter 10's cutscenes from XC2. The connections are really good!
I finally completed this awesome game two days ago. I put in somewhere north of 200 hours. I still have some side quests I need to finish. I can't wait for the DLC. I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64, which I originally got in '97 (I've been a PS fan since 2000 with the debut of the PS2). I'm so glad I purchased a Switch.
Some people say Pyra and Mythra's return ruins the ending a bit, what with the emotional impact of Pneuma's sacrifice being void. But all I can think is that if someone deserves a happy ending after the shit they've been through, it's Rex and Mythra.
Yeah you're right! People who played this game deserves a Happy Ending! Although, when I'm watching the ending before the credits scene, I thought it was a bad ending because Pneuma is not there with rex but after the credits scene, they actually slip out the true happy ending after the credits scene where Pyra and Mythra come back to rex and Pyra and Mythra got separated from each other so no need to switch bodies then
technically no, pneuma is the true form of the aegis. She no longer exists now because of her giving up that form. Only Mythra and Pyra are the forms left.
I remember someone making a good point about that. If Pyra/Mythra stayed dead, it would have also ruined Rex's character arc. For the entire game, Rex refuses to let go or even trust Pyra/Mythra. Its this childish desire that kinda defines him for 90% of the game, only to end at the bridge scene. If Rex didn't get the only thing he wanted (living with Pyra/Mythra), then his entire arc and growth would have been rendered pointless.
See when flares come down and one of them touches the Crystal? It is like Pyra is singing One Last You, she is wishing to God for a miracle to come back and it happened. Both Pyra and Mythra (they are their own character each) came back. It is a miracle.
If they make a Xenoblade 3 I want the plot to be about the universes from Xenoblade 1 and 2 colliding and becoming one and I want the cast from the original to meet the cast from this game, as for the atcual main story maybe the consergunce caused some issues like the worlds were going to keep on merging until they vanished so maybe the characters had to go back in time or something and fix it but the worlds would have to remain separate which could make for a really sad scene when the cast of this game and the original had to say goodbye to each other. Just my ideas.
I've always wanted a crossover of Shulk and Rex's worlds. I mean I already have a pretty good idea of who is whose counterpart. Shulk - Rex Fiora - Pyra/Mythra Reyn - Zeke Sharla - Pandoria (probably) Dunban - Mòrag (undoubtedly) Melia - Nia (undoubtedly) Riki - Tora And then I guess if we want to take antagonists into account, Bana did give me some Metal Face vibes. As well as Amalthus giving me Egil vibes.
@@rodrigobarrera2281 No it's not. It's the scenario of what would've happened if Klaus hadn't destroyed the Earth himself. This person wants Shulk and Rex and their friends to crossover and meet each other.
Even after playing breath of the wild with amazing gameplay, music, etc Xenoblade Chronicles 2 wins me over with emotional roller-coasters, well thought out character arks, pacing, suspense and borderline depressing moments, This game is so amazing that it simply can't be explained with words. It saddens me that we probably wont find another jrpg/rpg with a story as good as this one If I could wipe my memory I would play it again. Hopefully Xenoblade Chronicles 3 won't disappoint us.
2:53-2:57 -- Although brief, this is actually one of my favorite shots from the ending scene. Something about seeing that dragon soar across the sky as shooting stars rain down from above is just really mesmerizing. I also appreciate the happy ending.
Never played XC1, so I really didn't know what I was about to get myself into. But between the scenery, soundtrack, and story, I simply have to go back and play the original. If the original is even half as good as XC2, then I will be SOOO happy :D
If you compare everything each game has to offer that stands above the other, they are on par, but XC1's story is just SO FUCKING GOOD that I have to say its better
I'm not a very emotional person and I also stupidly spoiled the game for myself, but even after all that I almost cried at the ending (this and Torna).
wow. i wish someone could erase my memories so i can replay this game without any knowledge. the story, the ost, the characters and the areas in one were just breathtaking. of course xenoblade 2 had its issues but they didn't necessarily bother me too much. please, monolith soft, give me a sequel of this game. i really wanna get on another big journey with pyra/mythra and rex, even though rex was far from my favorite characters. i really wish more people to bump into this franchise in general it deserves way more attention. thank you monolith soft and nintendo for making me play such masterpieces. the ending hit me to the damn ground.
Coming back here after I just finished Xenoblade 3. Truly a masterpiece this is my favorite fictional trilogy. One that I can truly say has no definitive "best game" each has unique characters and stories that all manage to hit all the right notes to keep the player invested and play on their emotions. Xenoblade 1 was an epic about friendship and adversity in a failing world as well as the dangers of playing God. Xenoblade 2 was a romance about an average boy meeting fate and staying true to his own heart to not only redeem the poor tormented souls that were this games villains but to also to demonstrate such unconditional kindness to a complete stranger by promising to accomplish a near impossible task but staying true to his word and falling in love with her. I won't go on to spoil Xenoblade 3 but it is a fine conclusion to the trilogy about bringing out the best in humanity and being able to put aside your differences to form meaningful bonds and about when love and possessiveness goes too far. This trilogy was clearly the work of those who poured their souls into this story and didn't just make some rushed game every year to make a profit.
XC3's ending was incredibly lacking in my opinion. The entire story had so much intrigue and potential that lead to NOWHERE at the end. Such a black and white and barebones story. I'm extremely disappointed with XC3 and it is not even close to the masterpieces that is XC2 and XC1. Anyone who says XC3 is th best in the trilogy needs to brush up on XC1 and XC2's story. Afterwords, you'll see how much of a car crash XC3 is.
@@Arda-dq4rt I think that Moebius and Z were weak villains but I thouroughly enjoyed N as a villain and the story surrounding him was fantastic. I agree the story was not as strong as 1 and 2 but the story isn't wrapped up yet we still have dlc. Torna added so much depth and character development to 2. I believe 3 probably has the best combat system. Having 7 party members at once was implemented really well and classes are WAY more balanced than blades. @@poppapalpatine8624 Bro I understand what you mean by XC2 didnt need Torna DLC to DELIVER ITS OWN STORY. XC3 has such low quality and rushed story that people are HOPING for dear god so that DLC next year wraps up the entire mess of this ending. None of the XC games were this bad. XC3's combat success doesnt exempt it from doing a half-baked story and horrible pacing. I definitely agree that Consul N and M plotwist at the end of chp 5 was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. I loved the entire cutscenes and I wished N was the true villian instead of this unrelatable Z fellow who I still dont exactly understand how he freezed the world at the interlink point :D Or who he is for that matter. Wow! Such a weak ending to one of my favourite gaming franchises of all time. Where is the actual lore like Conduit, any mention of Klaus, Trinity processor...I still cant believe how watered down this entire XC3 experience was.
@@Arda-dq4rt To a slightly lesser extent I actually pretty much agree with you on everything. 3 left a lot unresolved but I think that was always the purpose of the dlc to bridge these three relatively separated stories together. But yeah hated Z definitely felt half baked there
Especially after playing Torna and listening to that game's ending song. The song in this game was about Pyra/Mythra coming back, and that actually happened. The song at the end of Torna is about Lora telling Jin that she'll come back, but that never happens. It makes you feel pretty bad for Jin, especially considering how he not only lost Lora, but all the rest of his friends as well.

(I was also crying cuz I finished the game ) This song really captures how Mythra and Pyra end up feeling at the end of the game. I like how the last line in the song is “ I want you to know” and then Pyra/Mythra speak. Almost implying like they said “I love you, Rex.”

If you do look at the lyrics on the song, it could be possible that mythra/pyra do love Rex as the lyrics near the ending says "I want you to know how I feel inside of you..." which kind of proofs to those who think they say "I love you" But the part where Rex looks down, to me it's more like his processing what they just said to him and accepting them. And NO they did not lose their memories
What if the memory montage is Pneuma in her last moments, downloading all the memories of Mythra and Pyra into her core crystal. With Klaus' access she should have that ability.

Rex is definitely looks hurt after Pyra/Mythra speaks to him at the end, which leads me to believe that they lost their memories. Then again, since their purpose was to collect data from other blades, it seems a bit redundant that all of it would go to waste, so if they were an exception to the rule it isn't completely outlandish.
I considered that, but I wouldn't necessarily say he's upset. Maybe he's feeling nostalgic from the first time(s) he met them, because if they really lost their memory, they should be confused as to why Poppi is running towards them, instead they hug her :)
@@nintendofire622 I agree, but looking at the re-resonance with the green core, it looks implied that rex isn't the one who initiated the resonance, (as all other instances have the drivers prepared and bringing the core to the centre of their body and have not concentrate on the awakening), but the core itself, as in Pyra and Mythra wanted to resonate with Rex again, they knew just exactly who he was and resonated with him before he could prepare himself.
@@goldenscruff7676 That's such a relief to think about! After the game I had so much separation anxiety of weather they remembered because if they didnt it would have been horrific.. But I'm glad they remember. The evidence suggests it 😊
Ok for those who say that the ending and Pyra and Mythra returning ruins it or doesn't make sense it actually doesn't do either of those things. Because it was Pneuma who sacrificed herself, not Pyra and Mythra. This is why you see Pyra and Mythra freed from the crystal, but not Pneuma. Her self that resided in the crystal was no longer there to be freed or restored if you will. She actually kinda freed herself though. She separated from the crystal when she restored Rex's life fully and then sacrificed herself to save the world. So there was nothing of her left in the crystal, but I guess you could call it the data of Pyra and Mythra was still there and thus they were able to be brought back.
If there is something I will find, it will be one last you. The moments, romance are intermingling for that wonderful and best ends. I appreciate games like these and hope for other better. Games are truly the medicine for the mind and its solace. I hope they will include it in the realm of discipline. Many would fix their ways and join it.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Let me *shine a light on your Melancholy Path* ...
More than friends is an understatement considering the lyrics of „One Last You“
I like the WiiU titles end song more called your voice
@Nhat Anh Hoang
So much sorrow in their eyes
Can't take more than you right now
It seems we're over
You feel the same way in a crowd
All the people pass me by
No one cares about me
All the fun times
Now I'm not sure they were true
It's a voice I heard
It can cure my heart
This rain hurts me
And in your mind
The only thing these words can save is my way
Just make me awake
Oh please tell me
Why must we face these hard times?
Don't look away
Where is your heart oh please
I've always heard you
Believe what she said today
Remember how to come from the rain
So much pain I hold myself
Can't let it go
Need you right now
It seems we're over
I feel the same way in the crowd
All the people pass me by
No one cares about me
The sunrise but I am feeling cold
It's a voice I heard
It can cure my heart
This rain hurts me
And in your mind
The only thing these words can save is my way
Don't give it away
Oh please tell me
Why must we face such a hard time
Don't look away
Where is your heart oh please
I've always heard you
Believe what she said today
Remember how to come from the rain
Everyday we've heard all the bad news
The world can't get along
Every time I must find the truth
It's not for anyone
Come on we are going down
But don't give up to live your life
Survive
Don't give it away
Oh please tell me
Why must we face these hard times?
Don't look away
Where is your heart oh please
I've always heard you
Believe what she said today
Remember how to come from the rain
@Nhat Anh Hoang sadder does mean better :P :P I mean the first games song is hardly sad but sounds lit XD
First: Was happy to finish the boss
Second: Was sad because what happend after the boss

MasterLuigi22 I hate the Ursula missions lol there’s no end to them
When I played this game in 2020, I had a rough start in my new school, I was outcasted and bullied because of some misunderstandings in my class and people who said they wanted to help me backstabbed me more. I remember it was the semester break and I had this game unopened on my shelf, decided to try and I remember the first few hours were vexing because I didn’t know how to combat and the story seemed weird, but many of the lessons and psychological battles gave me hope for my life and I can safely say I was inspired and much more happier since then

For everyone saying the ending where they come back doesn't make sense, it (to me) makes perfect sense. The architect gave pneuma all of his "power" over core crystals or whatever, making it seem like pneuma shouldn't really lose their memories since she has all the data about the world. I know this was a shitty explanation but if you've seen the entire ending you get where I'm coming from
TBH I'm just glad she's alive and didn't feel like undermining it.
StudioARE same
That is exactly what happens though.
Zach F yeah, you explained it much better than me lol
No worries haha you got the main idea across.
So XC2 has the best ending in the history of video games.

Some people say Pyra and Mythra's return ruins the ending a bit, what with the emotional impact of Pneuma's sacrifice being void.
But all I can think is that if someone deserves a happy ending after the shit they've been through, it's Rex and Mythra.
Rex and Pyra*
@@MAX-sr5nw was just about to comment that
Yeah you're right!
Xenoblade never disappoints, a perfect ending imo
Xenoblade crew: they’re bACK?!
Rex: *shook*
Tora: meh meh meh
Impossible read this without Tora's voice lol
"And Thus, boy met girl"

Shulk - Rex
Fiora - Pyra/Mythra
Reyn - Zeke
Sharla - Pandoria (probably)
Dunban - Mòrag (undoubtedly)
Melia - Nia (undoubtedly)
Riki - Tora
And then I guess if we want to take antagonists into account, Bana did give me some Metal Face vibes. As well as Amalthus giving me Egil vibes.

XC1 is in my opinion as good or better than XC2
Eduardo Naveda so true!
The story and voice acting to me are better in 1, but the characters and gameplay pulverize the first game. I still prefer Xenoblade 1, though

thank you monolith soft and nintendo for making me play such masterpieces. the ending hit me to the damn ground.
I miss everyone from Torna. I've never felt so sad for the bad guys in a game before. I loved these guys!!! 😰
ASavage ah yes that soothing assasination montage song
@@blainemack6639 If you read the lyrics it's definitely more depressing than soothing. It made sense in the cutscene though, since the cutscene is called "Crossing Paths". It's there to show how it sets up Xenoblade 2.

That "i want to know" scene is so beautiful when rex see both of them then Pyra/Mythra whisper something to you. It's beautifull way to end the game

If you would let me, I will give back a handful
If it would put a little smile on your face
-
Can I ask you, God? Despite all of this
Could the sandglass somehow take back the time?
One last time is all I ask from you
Can you please spare me a time with the one man I loved?
I wouldn’t care how and where it should be
All I need one last time
I want to tell you…
How I…
Feel inside for you
*I want you to know…*
The part where Zeke realizes that Pandoria is clinging to his arm, tries to shake her off, but she is resolute in her right to cuddle.
There will never be a game like this. 'Truly magical'
After beating it one just can say....
WHAT A JOURNEY!!!
The evidence suggests it 😊
@@nintendofire622 I'm in the exact same boat! It's just OCD that causes me to doubt it
@@goldenscruff7676 That's a fantastic point. Thank you for saving my favorite video game ending!
4:50 damn monolith, you guys just had to make Nia shove Rex after that lyric. I swear picking a waifu in this game is impossible for me.
