Chris, don’t think the “We’re not Taycan drivers here” comment went unnoticed. 😠😚

4:54 the car on the screen shows the wheels spinning and turning as well as indicator lights. Pretty cool detail. And the button at 6:00 is the heating for the door armrests and center console armrests.

The radiant heating pads are now only turned on when the heated seats are turned on. This happened with the February software update

Hi ya. Those fat bits on the steering wheel you don’t get on with is because, and I hate to say it, is you’re holding the steering wheel wrong. They are meant for your palms, your thumb and fingers shouldn’t be gripping the steering wheel. Let the car steering work for you, if you were involved in a crash and your steering wheel got ripped around you’re likely to get arm strain or worse have your thumb broken.
Love the videos by the way, and the mrs thinks you’re better than Bjorn Nyland 😀

I was raised on a farm and never ever putt my thumbs inside any steering wheel…, but this is not a tractor with no steering assistance! Btw Bjørn is the best.

Know its a different price range, but is this next level compared to EV6? Or is EV6 up there and can be measured against this one on some levels?

Why do automakers today trying to make the steering wheel more and more squarish?
One thing I get is the flat bottom, which my car has. It makes getting in and out of the drivers seat a bit easier.

    • @volodp

And I guess the square top could improve visibility if the steering wheel is set too high. And given that almost nobody holds it at the top, it should bring no major inconvenience. I guess that's their thinking and trying it on, I can't say that it would be uncomfortable to use.

How does an EV indicate braking by regeneration with the braking lights? Is it measured by acceleration sensors and signalled at a certain value?
Wie wird bei EVs eigentlich Verzögerung durch Rekuperation mittels der Bremsleuchten angezeigt? Geschieht das mittels Beschleunigungssensoren ab einem bestimmten Wert?

      By the amount of decalleration.

Its very interesting to drive on Landstrasse in the dark - you can see the landscape getting red when your brake lights light up - on my classic ioniq nearly only in highest regen mode, but not always, so it must be an acceleration sensor that activates brake lights above a certain deceleration.

    • @volodp

This is an interesting point. I was experimenting a bit in my PHEV BMW to find this out - how does the car indicate regenerative braking by the brake lights. And from what I can tell, it doesn't. No matter how hard I tried, it has never lit them. My car would slow down noticeably and regeneration would be indicated on the display, yet the brake lights would never come on. Not that I care a lot or I think that they should but it was an interesting observation for me.

The car has no heater or cooling in the conventional sense. The heat pump runs all the time as part of the energy controls.

The button for the air supension is missing on the control panel between the seats. It has no air suspension. Without air supsension it is still a good ride, but then I would not exactly go for the largest wheels. With 20 inch wheels you get the air suspension for free ;-) By the way he says he drove with the 20 inch wheels, but in another video he made you can see that it is the 21 inch wheels.

    • @MasterChief37

@@BatteryLife it’s a waste of space to have the windshield view taking up 1/2 of the screen and it’s out of focus. Utterly dismal framing. The environment is the reason we have EVs. How EVs perform in different environments is a prime concern that buyers have.
