Jon Voight is a true class act. He is a wonderfully kind man, and a brilliant actor. We are ALL unique, we all have our own opinions, and I am sick and tired of people being labeled because of their political beliefs. If everyone thought exactly the same way the world would be an awfully boring place. Who cares what a persons politics are- what we should care about is how they conduct themselves and how they treat others. Blindly hating someone because they disagree is infantile, just as Mr. Voight said in this interview, we should be able to sit down as friends and DISCUSS issues civilly, not dismissing each other automatically but rather caring for one another and respecting one another regardless of any disagreement.
@@mattgoldberg4335Why would you even bother to question Gerri's opinion of Voight's patriotism? So here's a question for you...why are so many Jews liberal? Liberals always act defensive when the topic of patriotism is raised. Seems you have a guilty conscience?
@@007gunlogo Not sure why I'm answering this, as you seem to be making assumptions about me. Back for a second about Voight. Again, he's a talented actor and appears to be a nice guy, but it's impossible to be a Trumper and be a "patriot" -- a word that has become twisted by the Trump cult. Let's say that I agree that Republicans have been more supportive of Israel than Democrats have -- and yes, I support Israel (which doesn't mean that I agree with all of its political decisions). I'm not a single-issue voter, and I don't see a big difference in US party support for israel. And there are a wealth of other issues that I consider in candidates and most members of the GOP have absolutely disqualified themselves from my consideration on a number of fronts.
@@mattgoldberg4335 Sorry, but your reply proved my assumptions about you were absolutely correct. The statement, "it's impossible to be a Trumper and a patriot"...tells me all I need to know about you. 70+ million of us voted for Trump, and yet you believe YOU have the omniscient knowledge to know that we are all unpatriotic. You should spend less time on UA-cam and get back to watching MSNBC. You're clearly more in your element there.
I'm conservative too but realistic enough to know each issue has many sides to it. Sometimes we try to fix issues without addressing the root causes first. Doing things out of order is equal to putting a band aid on issues. If we really want to stop abortion, we must first raise wages of women, give more promotions to women, apply the actual laws already on the books for divorces instead of siding with men simply because they are men, and we must make child support automatic with NO JUDGE having power to reduce it or excuse it and lastly, we must make child support actually enough, then it won't be such a hardship on women to raise children and there will be less abortions making it easier to ban abortions altogether.
Since when do women make less than men in the same job? Since when do the courts side with men in divorce? The level of misinformation in this country is deeply troubling.

I remember watching midnight cowboy in the early 1970s when it came out. I grew up when your parents could drop you off at the movies and you could have fun. I absolutely love Jon, you are groovy buddy, totally totally groovy
I think that kids then had a more eclectic motion picture experience. A kid would be dropped off at or walk to the neighborhood theater and see whatever movie was showing. Sometimes it was a kid movie, sometimes it was a movie meant for adult audiences. Sometimes it was a drama, sometimes it was a comedy, sometimes it was an action film, sometimes it was a scary movie or a science fiction movie. Heck, occasionally it was a foreign movie. In other words, it wasn't limited to the most recent comic book action hero blockbuster. There are probably young adults now who have never seen a movie drama.

Leftists answer to anyone telling the truth publicly is to do a character assassination on them.
John is on the top of my list not only for his acting but also for his love of America. He is quite some gentleman.
How do you gauge his "love for America", and who are you contrasting that with?
I agree that he has had a remarkable career as an actor.
@Matt Goldberg I am not comparing it to anyone or anything. Just an observation. That's all.
@@mattgoldberg4335Why would you even bother to question Gerri's opinion of Voight's patriotism? So here's a question for you...why are so many Jews liberal? Conservatives have demonstrated FAR greater support for Israel over the years...and it always puzzles me as to why libs don't recognize this.

That is not reality. At all.
And when men can take some responsibility for birth control !
@@karenburns9 Who has the option of opening their legs? Why do men have to pay the rest of their lives for a one night stand in which they were tricked into having a baby?
@@trespatines8698 if you're so worried about "being tricked" then take the necessary precautions. No ones forcing you to have unprotected sex either so if that results in pregnancy then that's not a trick its a result of poor decisions and now you have to deal with the consequences.
Love this guy's generousness and openness.

Right. He’s much wiser than talented.

Such an amazing and talented person! Love this man!
Absolutely love him ❤️
Hello how are you doing 😊
Your comment is spot on
Best line: every individual is UNIQUE 👏
If only. Especially these days, people jump onto a crackpot ideological bandwagon and think in lock-step with the confidence men who lead them.
Shut up bigot

Very nice, you are a real gentel soul!
if we're all unique who will fill all these boxes that we're supposed to be in?
Same is true of snowflakes. So what?
regardless of his politics, he has been a brilliant actor; you can't take it away from him
Regardless of his politics, yes we can all learn to agree to disagrees no mater if you are on the left or the right. No one side is better then the other ...
Brilliant actor? No such thing.
Talented man. Politics are his own, don’t agree .but respect our difference
U don't believe in god and guns ?
Not all differences should be respected.
@Gary Henzler privilege? He works for a living. Privilege is accepting money other people work for by way of government steal.
@Gary Henzler He makes a good point and you go out of your way to be condescending. But tell us more about how his politicis scream of privilege. I'm sure this is something you literally made up on the spot.

I respect this man. This man has integrity and tenacity and I admire his courage. Stay strong my brother.
I love Jon Voight!!! I love his acting and his charisma and his sense of humor and his conservative political stance,And I love the fact that Angelina Jolie is his daughter which I didn’t find out until just a couple months ago! Yes, I see the bone structure, etc., but I wouldn’t have guessed that was his daughter! And I love the interviewer!!!!! I love your voice and your style, and I don’t remember your name at all! I am sorry! Will you forgive me?! You really add to an interview also! And I love Jane Pauley of course! She is wonderful… Thank you very much to all!
I love Jon, he is a legend. Like John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin,Bob Hope,Johnny Carson,AND Sammy Davis.Jerry Lewis. ECT ECT...He ,like all these late actors. Burt Reynolds.
All loved him as well. And all these actors (legends) we're never scared about speaking THEIR minds on politics. That's something in Hollywood, that's always existed.
.....Robert Duvall, Clint....very few , if any, are as great as these are/were....other than maybe the Brits.
I agree.
That respect he had for Fred Astaire, is what is missing in the younger generation of professionals.
He’s not complicated! He has opinions - that’s it.
I know - CBS looks at someone who has (oh no!) different political views as highly weird. Honesty not much valued at 60 Minutes anymore. Also, I like Jolie but she is no Jon Voight in the acting department and she has a very long way to go to begin to match his accomplishments. He is always most kind to his daughter and I love that.
@Gary Henzler 😂👍🏼
@@MTknitter22 Well, he doesn’t deserve extra credit for speaking kindly of his children - that should be a given. Or else, say nothing.
They’ve had relationship problems. The most recent one that I can recall is: he was in an interview and revealing things about Angelina’s life that Angelina hadn’t put out there yet. she was mad about that. I think they had recently come to a point where they were talking more, and then there he was revealing things that weren’t about himself. I think she felt she and her life were being used by him. I don’t like him, because he was/is pro-Trump.
Nice comment you've got over their, how're you doing over there?
I love ya John. I find nothing complicated about you at all..Pure Simplicity. I thank you for the Work you do. You understand what it means to “Earn this” and not have it given to you. I can’t wait to see the next season of Ray D.. I totally understand working till the last breath. My plan as well.
LOVE that he is NOT silent about his conservatism in Hollywood that basically cancels you for being a conservative. He can’t be cancelled because he is a legend.
Good for him . God bless.
Great actor love his honesty and talent.
Tremendous actor
Whether we agree or not, it's refreshing for him to stand for what he believes in , in an environment known for bullying the different. And he has had a well-deserved long career.
CBS editor: "Hey the title should be "I have to say my peace".
CBS intern: Yeah, yeah, I heard you. "I have to say my piece".

Just as I was watching “Midnight Cowboy” last night. This is a complete and total mindf**k.
Mr Voight is such a great actor that brings greatness to his roles.
An absolute Icon and American treasure.
Always liked Jon Voight and I’m happy to hear his conservative. We need more people like him in Hollywood.
Since 2016 this country has devolved into The Divided States of Amerikkka 🇺🇸
Excellent in Midnight Cowboy and Coming Home. Also fabulous in Conrack, a very underrated movie. An outstanding actor and a great American.

He should look good-- he has everything at his fingertips and the best healthcare and nutrition as well as MAKE UP! He is a lousy racist dog. Supporting him is supporting a racist!

Damn can't believe hes 82 im gettimg old to 😭
Coming Home was one of my all time favorite movies although it is hard to watch. Heart wrenching.
I first saw him in The Champ when I was a very small kid and LOVED him!!! I love him even better now in his golden years. Great actor!!!
This is wonderful. The fact that my politics is superficially opposite to Jon Voigt's makes exactly no difference in my appreciation of the person profiled in this video.
He is obviously a good man in so many ways.
In the United States we find ourselves fiercely divided over a series of issues of secondary importance when compared to the many enormous national problems that our two political parties should be working on together.
Midnight Cowboy...wow. One of my favorites.
Me too! My uncle, James Lee Herlihy wrote the book the movie is based on. He was brilliant, funny and generous, we were penpals for years. Uncle Jim is greatly missed, beloved
Ooops...James Leo Herlihy, not Lee
Could he have been any more stoic when it was announced that he won an Oscar?
Loved John Voight in The 5 People You Meet in Heaven. Moved me. Thank you John. No one but you for that part. ♥︎♥︎♥︎
I can think of at least five people who would’ve been a lot better in that role. Ellen Bernstein however was above reproach in her performance as ruby.
Typical TRUMP supporter. WHO cares WHO you love!?
I really admire Jon Voight! I agree with him regarding the direction of our country. I have been watching his films my whole life. He is a great talent and a great man.
Voight’s performance is immortal in the movie Catch 22 !
Love Jon Voight 😮 great person who tells it like it is. True blooded American 😊
I remember watching midnight cowboy in the early 1970s when it came out. I grew up when your parents could drop you off at the movies and you could have fun. I absolutely love Jon, you are groovy buddy, totally totally groovy
It came out in 1969
@@cynthianolder5344 Perhaps a bit later in smaller neighborhood theaters.
It was Rated X. They just let you walk in
Always wanted to see him and his daughter Angelina Jolie in movie together guess not
The first Tombraider
It was made with them together. The first tomb raider movie about Laura Croft
It is a shame, they share a dynamism together, even if conflict based.
Wouldn't that be 'peace'? Voight, the one courageous, decent voice in this un-Godly world.
Wonderful and under- rated
