Very touching audio, and no surprise that Willemijn helps Lucy out a bit during the first verse. This song (and especially this version) is a testimony to their real friendship. Thank you for sharing.
no, not her last one. I don't know why she was crying.. guess she was somehow overwhelmed by her emotions and started crying, forgot the lyrics ans Willemijn helped out =)
I think she's crying because of the scene, I mean it is very sad because they're best friends and they seriously won't see each other again and they just want to say goodbye to each other. Not all people can watch this without getting emotional.
Interesting, it's not only Lucy crying, they also both mess up the lyrics at several points during the song, and have to improvise on the spot. Wonder what happened there if it wasn't the last show of either of them.
Yes, it continues to make sense though. I'm a native german speaker and I noticed something was in different order or "wrong" place, but at the same time I was like "woooaah, it's still correct grammar and it makes sense" :'O I would have been f**ed
Is the orchestration for the German show different than the North American productions, or is it maybe just that the dynamics of this recording are a little distorted? Particularly around 3:40, it sounds different than what I'm used to.
i don't know if there's really a general difference, but in this video Willemijn messed up the lyrics around 3:40, so this was maybe confusing for the orchestra as well and they tried to adapt ... ? interesting question!
lekoman There is a distortion because the recording stopped for a second (not only at 3:40). And Willemijn did mess up the lyrics, but in the second chorus, not in the bridge.
It's just the dynamics of the recording, I think. Willemijn changing around a few words in the last sentence wouldn't have an effect on the conductor or the orchestra playing. A difference between the German and Broadway production was that the German production used the reduced orchestration for 17 players, as do the national tours, UK tour and other international productions except for London where they use another individual orchestration I think. So for example, the harp sounds you hear here are coming from a synthesizer, on Broadway there's an actual harp part set in the score:
Everything went from sad to the saddest thing ever that I was unable to function when Willemijn started helping Lucy sing.
She helped her sing the song oh my god I'm not stable right now
A decade later and I'm still crying over this

Is there a video of this?
I don't speak German, but when Lucy sings the first verse, some of the lyrics sound different or switched around. Am I right?

THANK YOU for putting all these clips together! They are wunderbar! Do you know the story behind The 20 Show Countdown @ :29?
this is heartbreaking! but it isn't just Lucy who messed up lyrics isn't it? elphaba's 2nd (offical) verse is mixed up as well....

Super. Vielen Dank.
you heard right :) she is overwhelmed, sings the verse wrong and starts crying...
When did she help her?
2:20min
why is she crying? was this her last one?
@Judith1a
+MusicElfie was meinst du? 😚
Marie Brittain nee, war es definitiv nicht. Ich war bei Willemijns Derniere dabei. Dies hatte denke ich wirklich persönliche Gründe.
