First of all, I'm not a psychologist. I've had therapy for years, but that doesn't make me a professional. I don't think anyone can tell what's happening in another. This is just how I feel seen in his charakter and how I understand his story. ❤❤❤
First of all: Thank you for the video! I watched it when you uploaded it earlier (then was worried because removed it) but I gladly watch it again. I hope you are proud of your work because it turned it really good ❤ Tbh I am always amazed Astarion isn't more messed up after 200 years under Cazador---probably because he wasn't born into that weird pretend-family. Cazador is insanely disturbed on a level that exceeds the usual "vampire-evil-blah-blah", all of which would be enough for it's own essay (especially his uhh "questionable" relationship with children if you know what I mean). He was a person before all of this happened, even if he can't remember his past life. Even after being punished for so long for showing compassion, he is still carries some sympathy inside of him---especially towards Durge, children and animals. Saving the hyena right at the beginning of act 2 is probably the first time you see a different side of him. He also mentions only feeding on rats, while the other spawn talk about feeding on all kinds of stray animals (dogs, specifically). I know a lot of people don't like that Astarion doesn't get his perfect ending where everybody is happy and he is "fixed", but that is what is appealing for me. The epilogue made my cry the first time I played it. Healing is a journey, that can take years, decades, and sometimes....things never heal ("staying in the shadows"). Trauma shapes you in ways you might now realize and it's important to recognize it and be kind to yourself ("accepting the shadows are a part of you"). Not just be kind to who you are right now, but also who you used to be, the "weak" version of yourself that did not manage to free themselves of the abuse. That does not mean you should give up and not try to get better (" walk in the light again"). But don't be disappointed when it doesn't work out---it's the journey that counts. You can be happy again either way. I also want to thank you again for still making videos about BG3/Astarion, even after over a year after the official release. Danke ❤
@@Louves192 Thank you very much for your words and for supporting me for a long time. There's a lot more we could talk about on this topic and the video could last an hour. I think it's important to exchange ideas and find a community in which you can do that. And yes, I see it the same way you do with the happy ending. A happy ending made it unbelievable. simplifies the reality of the topic. (we're just used to Disney films ig) but I'll be honest, on some days I would do an ascension - Shit on my inner peace, cause trouble for a few years and some hero will kill me. But then I draw so much strength from the hope that Spawnastarion represents not to let my fears guide me and at some day arrive a a point of satisfaction.
Wow! That was an amazing video! I must admit, I was one of the few, who was actually scared of Cazador. He reminded me so much of someone in my past. Not because of his looks, but what he said and how he treated Astarion. Cazador is a very well crafted Character, and I don't get, why people laughed, when they first saw him. Guess they never met a person like him. Astarions coping mechanisms are so similar to mine own, that, when I confronted Cazador alone, I even panicked a little bit. Since that moment, I always take Astarion with me, as an emotional support (that sound so stupid, haha). 😅 I can confidently say, that we keep each other safe ❤
@@HastursQueen Thanks alot. I always thought that someone had to do that and that was the best I could give... 'comfort character' - 'emotional supporter' might sound absolutely crazy. But for those who see themselves in his coping mechanism, that's exactly what he is. It was the same with me, I felt caught and at the same time it was like I had found a good friend.
Nice to hear your voice ❤ I like the german accent by the way ;D And thanks, that was a detailed analysis like I miss here on UA-cam, so I'd love to see more like this ;) I admit that I had tears in my eyes. This character is very special to me and in my opinion the game indicates that he wants to be fixed.
@@Arvania90 I'm glad that you enjoy my German accent :D I did my best. Anf Thank you for your support and yes, this character also triggered something in me that I can hardly explain. good and bad experiences
