It's easy to dismiss this as a corny villain song from a bad kid's movie, but the way they end the song is really intriguing. Why hold it on the two looking so lovingly at each other? I feel there was more to these two than what we got, a shame since it could have been excellent character development, especially with their admittance of money being the source of evil in the song.

They were certainly working as a team on this front.
I feel like they were in love. They both love money, and having the same passion made them love each other.
@@lonelyronin2428 It's sad we don't have enough evil couples in wholesome relationships.
I REMEMBER THIS SONG!!!
I've always wondered what type of voice Tom and Jerry would have if they could talk and this movie was like a dream come true for toddle me. So I would watch this whenever it's aired. I remember this scene well, super iconic (in my opinion)
it scares me how much i root for these characters and how empathetic i find them
As we get older, we realize the "bad guys" aren't too far from reality. They are especially far more relatable too.
i don't see any redeeming qualities in these two . half of what they do doesn't even make sense. they know the dad is alive so what good would getting the girl back even do?
@@007kingifrit They explained that if the father was alive, they'd lose his trust fund money that was given to them upon his rumored death. Hence why they're worried about him being alive. So, to prevent that from happening, they keep Robyn trapped at the house to prevent her from reaching her father.
@@Samuel152 he is already alive, they KNOW he is alive, and they are in HIS house....he's obviously going to show up soon no matter what
Love how child abuse is relatable lol
Screw nostalgia critic. This is a great song
Even in bad movies, villains have awesome songs.
Then again, this one has the late Tony Jay in it, so...
CJCroen1393 yeahhh.....sad he's not around anymore his singing was awesome
BTW, this song and "Hellfire" weren't the only times Tony Jay sang in movies, he also sang a song in "An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island" titled "Friends of the Working Mouse" alongside Ron Perlman and Richard Karron. And now that I think about it, that song is kinda like this one in a sense, no it's not about money, but ***** said in another comment chain on this video that this song is used to convey the characters' personality flaws or something like that, and so does "Friends of the Working Mouse" since it's sung by the villains in the movie.
Alex Samsara Same here, I often value Doug's opinion on movies, but I never take it to seriously, the show is named "Nostalgia Critic", so of course he's gonna criticize and point out as much as he can find, that's what people watch it for. Villain songs ftw. xD
CJCroen1393 What is it with Tony Jay and singing in front of fireplaces? xD
I loved that ,in the movie he is only her lawyer and helps her because he gets a payout too,but they both love money so much that in this song they appears almost like lovers in crime over their shared interested. It is rare for a movie to show the villains relationship building. 😂
My mother used to sing this.... Lol. She also sang (sometimes still sings) "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Haha." She knows how to get a laugh out of you.
Your mother is awesome!

This happens to be the theme song of this movie's producers
Mmm-hmm, that too.
Well at least they didn't make Tom And Jerry sing Barney's Theme Song, because they should not be a happy family.
It's the theme song of the producers of that new T&J movie.
The melody is so hypnotic. I would remember the melody every now and then throughout the years.
one of the creepiest villain songs i've ever heard next to the Jester's song from Legends of Oz
have you ever heard "the happiest home in these Hills" from Pete's Dragon?
Try "Hellfire" from Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I can tell they both the most gold diggers for being a couple in this song.
Sounds like youtube's content id system.
Dr. Lickboot's voice still gives me a chill down my spine. Awesome performance!
It’s because it’s tony jay
I don’t care what you think of this film. This is the true Tom & Jerry movie.
Its definitely underrated
@@justinratcliffe947 I personally think it gets too much hate. So what if Tom and Jerry talk? Animals talk all the time in cartoons. People have other problems with it but that’s the main thing people complain about.

And that is why Sony didn't stop producing the emoji movie when they had the chance....this song sums it up
R.I.P popeye
This movie was my thing when I was little XD
Gizmo Gears ye me tooooooooooooooo
Gizmo Gears same and it was the first time that Tom and jerry actually spoke
I was so happy when that part happened, I always wondered what they sounded like XD
I have it on tape
"We've got to have....money!"
I love how that has become a meme.
I love this song! And all the imagery that came with it. Thank you for posting this for us, Ridlicks :D
Rest In Peace Charlotte Rae and Tony Jay (the voices of Aunt Pristine Figg and Lickboot)🙏🏼😔
Charlotte Rae was a fantastic actress and singer
R.I.P
Haven't seen this movie in over 10 years. I still know all the words to this song.
The naked truth about life.
I can't believe I still remember this so clearly all these years.. lmaooo
"Poor"
"Penniless"
"Bankrupt"
"No more money"
How'd they see my bank account
We’ve got to have… MONEY.
After they ruined Tom and Jerry by giving them speaking voices, I found myself rooting for THESE guys.
Besides, Tony Jay is always awesome.
+thatonedrewguy "Ruined." Tom and Jerry have had speaking voices before the movie. Heck, Jerry even talked to Gene Kelly.
+jacoblgames You know what I mean. The voices were used sparingly, like Wile E. Coyote speaking to Bugs Bunny.
Not throughout the whole damn thing.
thatonedrewguy They actually don't talk that much in the movie. It's exaggerated. Plus, when Jerry met Gene Kelly he talked throughout most of that video.
I remember them talking quite a bit in the movie. "Don't you believe it" is hilarious cause it's unexpected and in a short dose. Plus Jerry meeting Gene Kelly was a 4 minute movie. Not a 80 minute film where they put aside their differences to save an orphan.
thatonedrewguy It was hardly the only time they put aside their differences. They've always had an odd friendship with each other. Plus, the amount of time they talk adds up to only a few minutes out of an 80 minute film.
0:24 Oh, sound like the producers of this movie.
It's sad how some people go from "I need money, but don't particularly prioritize it" to "I want money as much as these cartoon villains, it consumes my thoughts every day"
hard to believe this is tom and jerry tbh
The song that goes through the mind of NFT makers and crypto traders.
“Money is power, if it was food it’d be a dish I’d devour.. EVERY HOUR.”
Lowkey I didn’t relate to this until I was an adult
Charlotte Rae sang that line with such believable passion
0:26 The last time when I was a kid I heard he said 'We've got to have Monday' but it reveal as money
Do you think the fat bitch slept with lawyer dude?
and a meme was BORN!!!
I cracked up laughing when the skateboard sprouted limbs and started dancing with the dog......But then again, I was born the same year this Movie came out^^;LOL......
Wishing I was that dog. Man, when your a animal in a film you can do anything. I'll marry a skateboard. Okay, I've went insane.
What's with the animation? It keeps alternating between really good and really bad.

“Greed is like a serpent trying to swallow an elephant whole.” -Chinese Proverb
Yet, it's so true in real life! Even Tolkien described Greed as the 'Dragon's Sickness'; once they have it, they can't see past their greed and would go so far to obtain it, even killing themselves for it!
@@kaytlinjustis5643 A vast majority of stories have cautionary tales of greed, such as Devil May Cry (Vergil’s greed was more about a desire for power rather than money or material goods), Deltarune (Spamton), Corpse Bride (Bacchus marrying and killing women for their money), Chainsaw Man (Denji doing anything for money) amongst others.
@@joshuaolsoncook I think another example that could fit is the Coachman from Pinocchio. If I recall correctly, when the boys were taken to Pleasure Island,he got a lot of money from turning the boys into donkeys, which (correct me if I’m wrong) turned him into a greedy man.🫣
I always thought they were a couple, but now that I rewatched it, I realize that was her lawyer.
To be precise, Miss Figg Is the caretaker of Robin Starling, who became guardian when Robin’s Father disappeared in an avalanche
Lickboot was Robin’s father‘s lawyer
They were both coworkers
And after their boss’s apparent death, they took over the household, taking control of the money that’s meant for Robin to inherit
Now word is coming that Robin’s Father, Daddy Starling maybe alive, later confirmed in a telegram
They fear if it’s true, they’ll no longer be Robin’s Guardians and can no longer steal the Starling fortune
So yes they maybe a couple, at the very least partners
Even before Robin runs away, they hoped and pray Daddy Starling may die of something else, and tried to keep the truth from Robin
Her running away, and her father returning to save her and her friends, blotched their scheme which is doomed anyway as Daddy Starling returning destroyed their plans anyway
@@christophersanchez7731 thanks for explaining 👍
As a kid I had no idea what the plot was, but after rewatching it. I understood everything
I remember when I was little I used to watch this movie all the time like every summer when I came home after seeing my friends I would watch this movie
