For those who are thinking in buying this laptop I recommended it, I was making a lot of research on this laptop a month ago as my options was the msi ge62vr Asus gl502vm and the msi gs63vr, after I read a lot of reviews of all these laptops I finally choose the y720 because I saw it was the best with cooling management and maintenance, I don't use too much to play as I am an architect and use heavy programs that demands a lot and it runs really smooth with out thermal probls, the other option was the msi gs63vr but I saw it was hard to maintenance as it was difficult to clean and repaste in a long term, the Asus was really nice but it gets really hot the same with the msi ge62vr. After all I found that is a really good laptop with good speakers, good thermal management and good build quality, yes the display is not the best but for me is ok, I have only been playing battlefield 1 in ultra with no problems, also Dave forgot to say that has a built-in adapter for the Xbox one controller.

Yeah. I bought the Y720.. Because the sound, build quality and just how EASY it is to access everything inside is great. The Thunderbolt 3 port is kind of understated too.. Seeing as the main goal of a gaming laptop, is, well, gaming.. And you can hook up an external GPU with the Thunderbolt port. Does the Helios have Dolby Atmos? Because this laptop has Dolby Atmos.
I have this 4k Laptop and removed that Anti-Glare film. The screen did get slightly brighter and the colors so much more defined and contrast is crisper! No wonder Dave Lee wasn't impressed by it but at least knows about that film. I use this laptop inside only so I'm not noticing any glare issues. Got rid of that ugly slight yellow tint as well.
Hi Dave, could you possibly do a review on the eluktronic pro-x p650hp6? Heard great things about this laptop but not many reviews. Thanks alot if you do this
I've been using this laptop as my daily driver for the last 4 months. Mine's pretty high specs (i7, 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB HDD + 256 SSD) and the price was substantially more than 1,000 USD (however, I live in Poland and this was still one of the cheapest laptops with comparable specs). I use it for work (lots of typing) and for playing games and it's been pretty good. The screen is rather dim, but not horrible. I found the laptop to be really quiet for a gaming machine, even when playing Witcher 3 on high settings. Cooling is definitely its forte. Battery life is very decent for such a high powered laptop. In general, PROS: - cooling - sound quality - performance - port selection CONS: - display (brightgness, color gamut, BEZELS!) - keyboard durability (my space bar is really squeaky after just a few months and I ususally type on an external mechanical keyboard...) - fingerprint magnet (the struggle is real, believe me) - design in general (I like it when it's closed, though) - weight
Did you mean the soon to be released? From leaks on notebook check, the new Ideapad 320 (15") will be equipped with i5 8th gen and GT 1040! Pretty exciting, seeing how well MX150 performs.
Shubham Bisht Given how power hungry the 1080 is, and how bulky these laptops tend to be, if I were you I'd go for a slimmer and maybe better built laptop with a 1070 or both build a desktop pc and then buy a cheaper ultrabook
I need a laptop to play the Sims franchise (sims 3 and 4). Will this laptop allow me to play all expansion packs with sims 3 with minimal lag time? that's all I want this laptop for! xD
If you really want this then sure! The Sims will run very well on this but you might want to consider something cheaper because the Sims is a very easy game to run
I LOVE THIS BAD BOY! Plays VR, Fortnite, PUBG, Paladins, Overwatch all smooooooooth. But with VR intense games like GORN your gonna see some serious frame drops once you start smacking 28 people in a row
i watched this with the Y720 i just got for christmas. And i have to say a few things about this laptop. I have the 4K version, now despite what people say where you only really need it for content creation, it looks amazing. The trackpad is on the lower end but i plug in a mouse anyway so that doesnt really matter. The sound on this thing is great, i use headphones normally but i may revert to not having any due to the sound quality. Don't worry about the exterior looking a little out of place... you never see it anyway.
here in the netherlands i got the laptop for 1500 euros. never had a better investment. the quality is excellent. i got the version with the i7 7700HQ, 8GB ram 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD i will upgrade the ram with an extra 8GB to get that future proofing. all and all, the y720 was the best price/performance/quality option for me.
1:15 i purchased the lenovo y720 two years ago, and if you want your laptop to last, i would remove the ddr4 shield cover. as my unit was damaged after a year of usage, and the shield cover cuts into the pcb and fried my mother board. Lenovo of corse offered no help, and they said it was my issue, and without warranty, i was on my own.... *I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BYING ANY LENOVO LAPTOP AGAIN* they put design flaws like this in their laptops so users would have to buy a new one if it breaks.
Yo Dave 🙌🏻 I’m a new member to your channel and seriously dude really love your work 💯 You did a review on the legion y720 and it helped me a lot , but I , with many people more , would also like a review on the new legion Y920 as I was thinking of buying the y920 Please do a review on the Y920 soon thanks dude
Thank you so much for that last minute, I really do debating exactly those two laptops (tho design-wise, the Dell 7567 is the best imo). Question is - the Y720 is 50$ more than the Helios, while the Helios got 16gb ram and the Y720 only 8gb. I should go for the Helios right?
Also worth noting is that Lenovo recently released a new version of the Y520 with the new 1060 Max-Q, which I think it's even cheaper than this Y720 with 1060. The performance difference between the 2 is quite small, so it may be worth checking it out.
i want to buy a laptop and i chose the acer predator 15.6 GTX1070 should i wait like two months or i buy it any why ? and if there better choices can you tell about it my using is for architecture work : 3d max rivet and i will use it for editing video with after effects and adobe premiere
I think that if you can wait then why not. If you really need a laptop right now that's something else but the gtx 1070 is around 50% better than gtx 1060, Is it worth for you? than hold on and get the acer
Almost two years ago this was my first gaming laptop, it has incredible performance in all the games that I play, now days I'm only use it for school and media because I built my first gaming desktop :D
Does it still work for school or potentially some small games? I need a laptop and someone was gonna give me their one of these but it would be great to know if it would still do the job
I got one and it's the best decision I have ever made in my life. I'm talking Watch Dogs 2 at Ultra Quality 60 fps. (The fingerprints are annoying but it's only on the exterior so it's not really a big deal.)
I love your videos man... But could you maybe make some peripheral videos like you have in the Past? Cheap mechanical keyboards, gaming mice... Maybe 144hz vs 1440p?? Thanks.
@@MoonDrive_ battlefield 5 was "free" on amazon prime. Same as bf4 and 1. I just got the trial and then canceled. Its really good and its usually pretty cheap. Battlefield 2042 runs like shit and isnt as good at least for now so ill pass. Pretty sad about it because i really wanted to buy it.
Hey Dave so while i was comparing between the helios 300 and this laptop i noticed that the helios's gpu can be overclocked using the predator sense and the lenovo just doesn'n have an oveclocking software am i wrong ? and did you overclock it manually ?
I have the Lenovo Y700 and the internals of the Y720 look very similar. Overall it was a very good laptop for me, but my left CTRL key broke off while under warranty and to put in the replacement, I had to FULLY disassemble the machine, including removing the heatsink. Needless to say, it was a lot more work than other laptops I've had to do the same thing to.
Can this laptop be considered a good choice for photo/video editing (Photoshop, Sony Vegas) ? I'm looking for some new laptop around 1000$, this seems nice, but the screen is not convincing me. Any suggestions for something else with better screen and less gpu and possibly not "gaming" look. tks
Yes the performance is great and most importantly the price is far lower than other brands except Acer. However, the QC is a major concern , which directly affect the reliability of the device (i.e. how many time it will malfunction in a year? How long will it last until it is complete unusable?). In my opinion, if you want to buy a laptop from Lenovo, only consider Thinkpad (which is one of the best laptop series in the world, the other one is Dell XPS). Other series besides Thinkpad, please do NOT expect it will last long.
Make sure to buy the Y720 on sale. The "regular" price direct from Lenovo can be pretty expensive but amazon has frequent sales for it. Thanks for watching 2d fam!

No wonder Dave Lee wasn't impressed by it but at least knows about that film. I use this laptop inside only so I'm not noticing any glare issues. Got rid of that ugly slight yellow tint as well.
I love the production quality of your videos.
Hi Dave, could you possibly do a review on the eluktronic pro-x p650hp6? Heard great things about this laptop but not many reviews. Thanks alot if you do this
I second this. I got the 1080p-gtx1060-512GB SSD-16GB RAM version and it's fantastic
Ender that's the one I'm thinking of getting 😊
Do more back to school stuff
XXXTentacion X can you give me tips in league 😥
who cares about back to school
Logan Darklock People who need back to school tips as they are going back to school 🙃
Just bought this on Amazon, can't wait for it to arrive!
Excellent very informative review. I'm split between this & the Helios 300. Waiting for Black Friday to see if there are any reductions.
Please Dave 2D can you make a mini pc setup under 500 $ ???
Better than Acre predator Helios 300
Eh. I prefer you get a VX 15 instead
@@fatpenguin5893 i thought that came with the 1050ti
In general,
PROS:
- cooling
- sound quality
- performance
- port selection
CONS:
- display (brightgness, color gamut, BEZELS!)
- keyboard durability (my space bar is really squeaky after just a few months and I ususally type on an external mechanical keyboard...)
- fingerprint magnet (the struggle is real, believe me)
- design in general (I like it when it's closed, though)
- weight
A classic value gaming laptop. Sad to it priced above $1000 though!
Price: $1,329.99
diego grados On Amazon the Lenovo Legion Y720 cost $1799.00
diego grados haha sad life, i buy it $1100.00
$1120 on microsoft store
It comes with i7-7770 and ssd/hdd
Lol,in my countries store's this Notebook cost 960$ for version with i5-7300HQ and GTX 1060 6GB and 16RAM and SSD 240! Nice price and specs.
Is the Lenovo Ideapad 320 14" good for school
uranus lol that picture you got me
uranus yes it is, it's got everything but good looks but a dbrand would fix that
Did you mean the soon to be released? From leaks on notebook check, the new Ideapad 320 (15") will be equipped with i5 8th gen and GT 1040! Pretty exciting, seeing how well MX150 performs.
Pretty much anything from Lenovo is good enough for basic use, and most of it is gaming optimized so it handles normal stuff without a whimper.
Lmao that picture got me so hard i kept swiping it like wtf
I have it, ITS AMAZING!
Gideon van Niekerk do you have that sleep problem on your laptop bro ?
i have this laptop for 2 months now and it's a great laptop. It will get warm after some gaming sessions but great overall
awesome review mate always a joy to watch.
Cheapest gaming laptop with 1080 is?
Not cheap
RaoulWB / Rilliam ik but price?
From what I've seen, over 2200 bucks
RaoulWB / Rilliam thanks my buget was 2000$ now i have to earn more to get a 1080!!!🙌🙌🙌🙌
Shubham Bisht Given how power hungry the 1080 is, and how bulky these laptops tend to be, if I were you I'd go for a slimmer and maybe better built laptop with a 1070 or both build a desktop pc and then buy a cheaper ultrabook
nice one
Techno GJ 1:20 he literally described the laptop at its finest he save me some time moving on..... 😂
I need a laptop to play the Sims franchise (sims 3 and 4). Will this laptop allow me to play all expansion packs with sims 3 with minimal lag time? that's all I want this laptop for! xD
same, tho I can't afford any type of laptop...
If you really want this then sure! The Sims will run very well on this but you might want to consider something cheaper because the Sims is a very easy game to run
Easily
Bro its a gtx 1060 lmao yes your can play sims 3/4 at 200+ fps
Get a laptop with Intel graphics for sims.
I LOVE THIS BAD BOY! Plays VR, Fortnite, PUBG, Paladins, Overwatch all smooooooooth. But with VR intense games like GORN your gonna see some serious frame drops once you start smacking 28 people in a row
Agar Retired High settings 30 fps. Mid settings 60 fps. The lower you go the better the fps
I really enjoy watching ur videos, very soothing
Acre predator Helios 300 is 1000 in my country and this is 1400 I'll stick with the Helios
Dandan10 yeah💪💪 just don't own it out of warranty
You'll are lucky because in India this laptop cost around nearly 2000 dollars!!
exactly
or 1,000,000 canadian
ToTsC Izanagi TAXES
I love what you do keep it up I got inspired is what reviews u do thx a lot
Oh man! So glad I was patient. Initially web price was £1299. Easter sale brings it down to £999. Smack on 10% student discount and it's at £899!
it is thunderbolt 3 (PCIe x4)?
Will Montiel yes it has 4 lane thunderbolt 3
yay finally! been waiting for you to review it
Damn lee this is going to the top of my list for my college
THAT AIN'T CHEAP
Ikevin Durant Well what do you expect it has good specs for the price tho you can find this one for less than 850$ if you search some shops
lol "gtx 1060" still kinda sucks tbh
Look at the date of the video

I live in India , getting a laptop soon for 60 k ( 828.09 United States Dollar) for Video editing and Gaming help me which should I get ?.
i watched this with the Y720 i just got for christmas.
Don't worry about the exterior looking a little out of place... you never see it anyway.
here in the netherlands i got the laptop for 1500 euros.
never had a better investment. the quality is excellent.
i got the version with the i7 7700HQ, 8GB ram 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD
i will upgrade the ram with an extra 8GB to get that future proofing.
all and all, the y720 was the best price/performance/quality option for me.

It's pretty amazing to see 4K on this laptop only over 1000 dollars!
Subbed and liked, the quality of this vid is awesome.
Congrats Dave 200 videos and counting:)
Nice, been waiting for this for a while!
*I WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BYING ANY LENOVO LAPTOP AGAIN*
they put design flaws like this in their laptops so users would have to buy a new one if it breaks.
Yo Dave 🙌🏻
I’m a new member to your channel and seriously dude really love your work 💯
You did a review on the legion y720 and it helped me a lot , but I , with many people more , would also like a review on the new legion Y920 as I was thinking of buying the y920
Please do a review on the Y920 soon thanks dude
i love your videos and your way in reviews , keep it up :)
I love your vids Dave they are of A1 quality and up to the mark. I would love if you make a video on Acer aspire f-15 ranges
I believe both Dave and MKBHD are now showing each other's video on their channel without mentioning them, I noticed it on new videos of both of them.
Hello! I really like your comments a d recommendation. Between LENOVO legion y530 and y700 which one better complete for game?
of course y00
Where was this review when I was buying my Helios 300?! Love your vids Dave, but now you're making me have second thoughts! 😜
Also worth noting is that Lenovo recently released a new version of the Y520 with the new 1060 Max-Q, which I think it's even cheaper than this Y720 with 1060. The performance difference between the 2 is quite small, so it may be worth checking it out.
i want to buy a laptop and i chose the acer predator 15.6 GTX1070
should i wait like two months or i buy it any why ?
and if there better choices can you tell about it
my using is for architecture work : 3d max rivet and i will use it for editing video with after effects and adobe premiere
any help
I think that if you can wait then why not. If you really need a laptop right now that's something else but the gtx 1070 is around 50% better than gtx 1060, Is it worth for you? than hold on and get the acer
Almost two years ago this was my first gaming laptop, it has incredible performance in all the games that I play, now days I'm only use it for school and media because I built my first gaming desktop :D
Does it still work for school or potentially some small games? I need a laptop and someone was gonna give me their one of these but it would be great to know if it would still do the job
MKBHD adds you in his video and you adds him in your video. Amazing
I got one and it's the best decision I have ever made in my life. I'm talking Watch Dogs 2 at Ultra Quality 60 fps.
(The fingerprints are annoying but it's only on the exterior so it's not really a big deal.)
Great review. Thank you Dave. I have a question if I may: what program did you use to create the graphics and animation @ 4:46?
Thanks again!
I love your videos man... But could you maybe make some peripheral videos like you have in the Past? Cheap mechanical keyboards, gaming mice... Maybe 144hz vs 1440p?? Thanks.
I just bought that one some days ago. I really like it. The only thing is the not that bright desktop. If you have questions you can just ask me:)
Getting this laptop in 2021 next week, can’t wait!
If you manage your expectations, its amazing. I dont play any of the newest AAA games and even in them you can still get good fps
@@karol3368 I got it, it can pretty much run any game, even fh5 and COD WZ/CW at high 1080p with 55 FPS+
@@MoonDrive_ yeah i have it too its amazing. I play for honor, Forza horizon 5, battlefield 5 etc.
@soulwiped nice, I wish I could get battled 5 or 2042
@@MoonDrive_ battlefield 5 was "free" on amazon prime. Same as bf4 and 1. I just got the trial and then canceled. Its really good and its usually pretty cheap. Battlefield 2042 runs like shit and isnt as good at least for now so ill pass. Pretty sad about it because i really wanted to buy it.
hell, how the hell do you make such smooth reviews?!
Seems really good deal. The only thing I would like to see on this is a more muted look.
Hey Dave
so while i was comparing between the helios 300 and this laptop i noticed that the helios's gpu can be overclocked using the predator sense and the lenovo just doesn'n have an oveclocking software
am i wrong ?
and did you overclock it manually ?
great review dude ! Thanks
Awesome review
Other series besides Thinkpad, please do NOT expect it will last long.
hi dave, i want to ask is the y720 has a m.2 sata or m.2 nvme drive?
since i've bought the regular hdd version, i want to upgrade to ssd..
Hey dave, pls make a review on the acer nitro 5 (love your reviews, keep it up)
