It's a whole new twist on the corset dress trend and honestly a twist that makes me like the concept a whole lot more. And yeah I absolutely had sheets like those just with blue flowers.
This looks great. And I definitely had sheets like this, but I think mine had some orange in them too. I think "modern" can be overrated. Pretty is good too.
Such a pretty dress! I love the cording. The sheets remind me of the ones I had in college that still in the back of the linen closet..Thanks for your inspirational videos-glad to have found your channel.
I just found your page tonight and I've been binging your videos since! Feeling really inspired by your original takes that play on tradition - such a cool and creative combo. I don't know if I have the technical skills for this pattern yet but I'm so excited to work up to it anyway!
I love your experimentation. You always seem to put out one of your delightful videos just about when I am feeling quite grumpy about a project and you remind me that *experimentation works* and is *worth the work* and to *keep going*!!! Your dress is stunning. 🤩 Thank you for sharing. ❤XXX
Really very nice! And it’s perfect for the summer. The nice thing about using the sheets is your dress will not shrink when it gets washed, just the cording, maybe…lol.
I think you’re right. I’ve been going back and forth between liking the odd way the hem sits to the back and not, but I do think it should probably just be even.
Oh there is definitely some potential with the way the cording was fringed coming out of those channels!! I’m not sure what or where but I’m inspired Hmm probably needs to go more in a burlesque direction than a boho/western one but maybe 🤔
I think the issue is more, that the cording gets a little stretched out, as it's being drawn through the tight boning channels. And then afterwards, it just wants to shrink back to its original length. Rope just has an inbuilt 'elasticity', because of the way it's made and also the fibers itself.
I think it can probably be shrunk similarly to how yarn is dyed (by tying the hank in a few places) but it does get sort of eased through the channels as it’s pulled through, so (I think) it’s best to just leave it some extra just in case. Only time and washing will tell, maybe I can do an update on it sometime in the future!

I have a similar set with blue flowers as well! And thank you!
"Let's just make the thing." My new mantra.
It’s a good one I’ve found 😁

Aw welcome to the channel! I love the nostalgia of old bed sheets! Thank you!

You look adorable in this
Aw thanks!

Aw thank you so much! It helps when one has good pieces to experiment with (thank you sixteenth century 😁)
very cool dress! and thanks for playing dvorak in the background. :)
What a sweet summery dress! Going to check out the pattern now. I love your design sensibilities and the journey you been taking us on ❤
Thank you! I appreciate that the journey is appreciated 😄
What a beautiful dress, love how the styles combined make this sleek modern dress.
Thank you!!
The content is very interesting. It's just great
Wow! Nicely done!
Looks cute and it's always to sew up what has been dancing in our heads.
That looks really comfy and beautifully summery 😻😻
Thank you, it is super easy to wear!
It's so pretty! Also love that it's 2 patterns smooshed together. The smooshing worked out really well lol.
Ha- yep, no fancy drafting this time. Thank you!

Thank you! I’m hoping I left enough slack they the cording will just nicely shrink to the perfect size… if not I guess it will be a shirred dress haha
Gorgeous 😍
Thank you!!
I like it. It's quite an original take on the theme, but not too 'costumy' 👍🏻
Aw thanks!
I would have added the gores to the sides of the dress because it would have evened out the hem a bit more . thats all great job

I adore this!! I am desperate to try a corset dress with cording instead of boning now!!
Thank you! Honestly it could probably also work with half the cording and be less toasty 😊

I totally agree- it was both very satisfying but a little sad to cut all the fringe off. Definitely want to play around with it some more.
A very nicevideo, thank you. Do you have lupus?
Thank you! Nope, no lupus to my knowledge, just rosy cheeks ☺️
About the cording shrinkage: can you prewash/dry the cording to preshrink it?

Great video, music not so much.
Thank you- and I agree, inexpensively licensed music is not the best. Picking out music is my least favorite part of making the videos.
