Okay, so for any other idiots out there like myself, I tried this for hours in build mode and it didn't even register that maybe it needs to be done in live mode. It was driving me insane. Doesn't do anything in build mode, but guess what, works perfect in live mode. I am a dumb ass, hopefully this prevents any other people going through the frustration I put my own dumb ass through.
"press the tab key" *new world opens with rainbows and dubstep and everything* wtf? is it that simple to enter cinematic camera? i thought it was a cc mod!
FOR MAC USERS > find The Sims 4 in your programs folder and right click to go to "Show Package Contents" then go to Contents> res > VideoCamera.ini You're welcome
I finally found the reason my game zooms out when using 9 to lift objects I appreciate this so much. Thanks to this gem of a tutorial all I do now is; 1) Go into or stay in Live Mode. 2) Position your camera to where you want to place the object. 3) Press "Tab" on your keyboard (for PC, sorry I'm unfamiliar with Mac) 4) Use your scroll wheel (on your mouse), WASD (front/left/back/right), and QE (down/up) to position the camera exactly where you want it. 5) While still in Tab mode, press and hold "Ctrl" and "9" on your keyboard. This saves that position to your camera so when you press 9 you will be repositioned at the spot you saved. I hope that helps anyone else who had issues using 9 to lift objects! Happy Simming

I saw Curtis do this on his building videos and thought it was some advanced video editing or something. I never knew you could use this! Thanks for the clear explanation James :)
If anyone sees this comment, when setting camera points do not use the numbers 0 and 9 because those can be used to move objects up and down in Build Mode
@@Russell8499 Hi, this is copy and pasted from the sims forum thanks to a user named Karababy52: 1. Open your TS4 folder by going to Documents > Electronic Arts >The Sims 4 2. Look for a folder called VideoCameraStates and open it. 3. Inside you should see a file with a picture of a cog on it named VideoCameraStates. It's a configuration file. 4. Open the file. If you've set any camera positions, they will be listed inside. 5. If you don't care to save them, (perhaps you did it accidentally or you no longer need them) delete the entire folder. The game will generate a new empty one the next time you open your game. 6. If you'd like to keep these camera positions, copy the folder and save it somewhere safe until you need it again. Just drop the contents into the newly generated folder.
Mr. Turner: This might be from 2014, but it was the video that I clicked on and I have to say that I'm very happy that I did. I am getting into taking tours of my epic Sims 4 builds and this video gave me everything I need to really use the tools the game already has to my advantage. Thanks a lot!
I’m just now starting to really get into building in the sims mainly because of you & MsGrphyi. so i appreciate being able to find videos from 2014 that perfectly help me right now!!
I only just found this tutorial via twitter today, always bugged me on how to do this type of camera angles and today, just now, I'm happy to know how to do this! Thanks!
Literally binge watching your rags to riches series and decided to look for a way to move my cam like you move yours...Surprise surprise first result that comes up on Google. So we meet again.
Thanks for making this video! I was just thinking about how people get the camera to move from one point to another so smoothly, but you gave me the answer!
And all the hundred videos I've watched on how to rise and lower the camera it only showed me how to tilt it up and down but this video helped me out and thank you so much now I know how to take better photos with the rise and lower option
Thanks for this tutorial. I was watching other videos that building houses and they have their cameras basically looking straight at it instead of looking down. I had always wonder how they were look right at it. Thanks.
Yay, finally a tutorial on Camera position saving. Does work outside the cinematic camera as well, by the way, not sure you mentioned that. And it works at least since Sims 2, in that even with 4 as well.
Use camera mode (TAB on PC) and save the different angle shots you want by framing it and holding CTRL and any number between 5-0 (not on the number pad, use the top of the keyboard). Once you have the shots you want saved, screen record and hit all the different numbers you saved!
Thanks James, this is so helpful! I was about to give up on trying to use cinematic shots in my Sims videos cos I just couldn't get them to look right, but now I feel ready to have another go at it. :)
Thank youuuuuu! Haha. I'm new to recording ts4 and I could figure that out to save my life, lol. This video alone will greatly improve my videos. You rock!
Just to help fellow mac users, to get to the VideoCamera.ini file, you go to your apps, right click on the Sims 4 application and select "show package contents", then click "Contents" and then "res".
LMAO I was just watching the fire lookout tower video and was like "oh, I like these images I need to learn how to take those kinds of pics" searched "how to use sims 4 camera " and clicked the first option and it was you again.
so I think i was messing with the cinematic camera and now when i try to raise objects in build mode using shift+9 it moves the camera to another position. does anyone know how to unsave the camera points?!
I'm having this same problem. I've tried hitting tab again to turn it off, double tab, shift + ctrl+ tab, shift + tab, ctrl + tab... nothing is working!
+PixelFace I ended up fixing it by deleting that camera from the file mentioned further down in the comments section (it's in the EA file and it's called something like CameraStates). After I deleted it I went back into the game and went into the camera options and reapplied the Sims 3 camera (even though it was still technically chosen I had to reapply it) and then it went back to working normally.
Thanks James!! Super useful! To let you guys know, the "default interpolator parameter" section of the code doesn't exist on the Mac version. At least not in my copy. You can do everything else apart from changing those settings with the timings and stuff

ErinShannon This is why I come to the comments! You are a legend😂 I was freaking out about why it wasn’t working😂😂

Not true at all. My base model 5k iMac plays it 60fps at highest settings with ease. 😉

Did you find out ?? I need to know ...5 years late lol
@@anhdinh8954 Hahaha I feel you. I read that its possible with the Sims3 camera (in Camera Options or something)
u just click and drag on the wheel...lol
How do I unsave the cinematic mode because when I press 9 to move something it keeps moving away from what I'm building
SociallyAwkwardGirl 221b when you press 9 hold ctrl too so it doesn't move away
Ok thanks
But that only sets a new camera point
I had to delete camera and start the camera over so it didnt save on either 9 or 0
It only saves a new camera point if you're in camera mode. In Build Mode, ctrl+9 moves objects up and ctrl+0 moves them down.
Can't tell you how helpful this has been in creating my videos. Thanks so much!
