There ya are again brother with what is still my top Joe Clark tune!!! Not just because of the content.....but because it brings me hard into a reality that i lived personaly for far too long. Your one of a kind Joe.....and i for one really dig the honesty in your writing. Carry on my friend , carry on. ron
Looking forward to finally seeing you live at the Big Dipper on Saturday! If you are sticking around we'll have a camp fire up the road and my mando :)
Been doing a deep dive into autobiographies , interviews, storytelling about the greats lately. Hag, Waylon, van zant, lefty fizzel, Willie, the Hanks, etc etc. one common thread is their imbalance and addictions (‘cept Willie )they let sadness and desire create a selfishness that was all consuming. In an attempt to create great art, they lost decades of time they could have made art. They lost all the money they needed to make whatever art they wanted. They lost wives and all of them resented the time lost with their children. Another common thread was signing deals, and how great it is these days we don’t have to, as Merle was celebrating. It’s good to learn from others mistakes. One positive point I’ve seen, is they weren’t chasing music, they were chasing songs. They loved songs and made music around them. So many people do be the opposite and are great musicians, but don’t have the songs. The one line that says ten things. The minimalist, the pausing and perfect delivery… now that’s a good addiction. Keep em coming Joe
