I joined the Army Cadets in 1953 and served until April 1958 when I joined the regular army. I was a WO 11 in the Cadets, and in regular army training I was awarded a certificate for being the best recruit in my squad. The Cadet force is a great organisation, here we started the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme in 1956, when Sir John Hunt(later Lord Hunt) visited us. Discipline and teamwork helps you throughout your entire life. I still press my clothes and shine my shoes aged 76. Manxman and proud of it.
I am now a Corporal in the Army Cadets. I have been on 3 annual camps and if you are thinking of joining the army cadets, please do! It is a life changing experience that not everyone gets to do. You get many qualifications that will go on your CV and record, you’ll make lots of new friends, and you will love the hell out of it!
Anyone who wants to join: You'll get taught a lot about Drill, Military, Tactics, Bushcraft, Fieldcraft, First Aid You'll get 1 Sport/Physical Training day then 1 Military themed day a week You'll learn military stuff in your detachment but actually do most on camps Weekend camps are £15, Annual is around a £100 You won't get sleep in camps if you're a guy (very loud party and guy stuff) You get rank promotions if you're very good, you get star ranks if you pass tests and go on camps and do well If you're a quiet kid, your confidence will go up to a 100% same with a quiet voice If you're uncool, you'll become cool Depending on detachments if you're a guy you'll have a lot of play fights it's wild AF It's fun, you'll gain a lot of knowledge and overall make long time friends and become a better person You sometimes go to markets like Tesco and collect money for charities Your uniform is £15 once paid and it's yours officially from the War office (Army)
I think the price for enlightenment/uniform is now £25 +the cost of boots I mean it’s not bad, at the start of the year I was in St John ambulance cadets (hated it tbh) and it was something like £50 for uniform, £20 for enlistment and £30 per month, I hated the entire time I was there and my parent made me go to it for a year, I’ve just recently joined army cadets with a close friend and it’s good :)
@@The_enclave_2077 Idk because during drill there’s a lot of yelling etc, it can be stressful tbh, also during rifle training it will obviously be loud from gunshots
Joining the Army cadets is a way to help get a ln Army Career but like you said @WDBSYMedia going to the gym and learning a martial arts will help too. Especially with the selection process.
I am part of the Norfolk ACF, I am currently a 3* training bombadier (CNA) and I've been on 2 camps, west tofts and nescliffe, they were the most fun I've had in my cadet career. I'd suggest cadets to anyone who wants to try something new
Guys pipe down about the berets, I know the first person was wearing it wrong. Loads of people wear them wrong when they start out because they can't mould them very well so give them some respect
JamesIsSoRandom Im in the Royal Irish cadets and that caubeen is different, it has a green hackle instead of a blue one and his silver piece is alot larger, also to mention it over his right eye.
Mindlissnova Hey just saying canadas army cadets camp is 2 weeks to and then basic 3 weeks course then 6 weeks and then 6 and then 8 weeks is staff cadets
Stan Robinsom My detachment do PT only once a month but it's pretty easy tbh. Like I'm not fit but I could do it! So I don't think there are any fitness requirements. On other days we do fieldcraft, drill, first aid ect
