I am issued a lightfighter, just got done with AT at Fort McCoy Wisconsin about a month ago. Spent the whole time in the field. Found out these tents mount directly onto a military cot. I like this combination, I am 44 year old veteran and this saved my back from hurting too bad. I just bought a Scorpion 3 and am looking forward to trying that out with my wife this weekend.
Regarding flapping of the entrance in wind, @7:00 there is a loop on the left side of the two flap door entrance. Use a stake through this loop to hold down the entrance on the left side, you will still be able to unzip the entrance and enter on the right, when the entrance is zipped closed it shouldn't flap, or at least greatly reduce flapping.
It's mindblowing! Being in the south, low 20's is extreme cold. I would love to experience the type of conditions that those sorts of tents are designed for. It's insane! People down here think that I am a madman for camping when it's under 40.
Same here in central NC, but I'll admit that I might be too much of a wimp!😂 I love the 30's and 40's and most people can't take that, but don't think I'm made of the right stuff for much lower.
Made a very similar Winter layer for my Big Agnes from a lightweight tarp. I used scissors to cut the tarp into parts that I put together with a sewing machine. Reinforcement and extra stitching was done at slots. Seam sealant used on all stitching. I attached the Winter layer to the bathtub with a 24" zipper in the center of each side of the tent. A zipper was placed on each side of the bottom of the door. One side can be tied back while the other is secured to the bathtub. I used nylon zippers meant to be used in jackets. They still work after 4 years.
Gotta say Luke, think you’re driving up the cost of this tent. When I first saw, I could definitely find it for $100. Now I only see 200 and up. Granted, I’m sure you can still find them at 1 somewhere. Your positive reviews are definitely having an impact on the market, by increasing demand for GOOD products, which is very good, but not so much for the pocketbook😂. Thanks for the great reviews, keep them coming.
As simple as that was to attach, you would think you'd see a lot more of it. Not everyone wants to buy a 4 season tent. Selling a simple conversion is a great alternative.
Or wants to carry around the extra weight. Hopefully more companies start to pick on. Instead of selling 20 different tents. Sell a few, but give the customer customization options.
I used this product for 5 days at high elevation in Colorado with temperatures dropping to just below 40 degrees. The addition of the conversion kit made the tent very noticeably warmer. It was ten degrees warmer than the outside temperature as I measured it with a thermometer. I like it a lot but find the profile a bit low and the width a bit narrow. I would love to have the two person version of this kit.
Had my lightfighter1 out in 21°f last year and it was doable, but very cold. I immediately purchased this kit on sale for about $90 and can't wait for the cold to come.
After watching this video, I instantly looked on eBay and found all of the kit. Used but in great condition. Missing the snow anchors and 1 stake. No big deal. But what was even greater, the tactical bag that it all goes in. I finally was able to use it on a trip and wow! Love it!
I bought direct from Litefighter the whole Tent Kit including the cold weather conversion, Shipped to me here in England excellent service, I use it with the Helinox XL Cot, fits perfectly
ebay was flush with Litefighter 1's a week ago when your video on the LF1 came out. They all sold out in 2 days after your video. I bought a second one because it says it's the gen 2 with overhead pockets and mine doesn't have those. Also, to add velcro to the area you pointed out, you could probably just go with some 3M adhesive backed velcro. Wouldn't trust the cheap stuff to stay stuck, go with 3M.
I bought my litefighter 1P tent based on some of you’re other reviews/videos on it and am super happy I went with it. Have used it on a few backpacking trips and have no complaints. Definitely gonna get the cold weather kit for this winter.
Im older than most folks here but age never takes the urge away! Great looking tent and set up! I cant camp this way anymore. I've a bad back so I have to have my truck handy so I use a waterproof Napier that sets up in my truck bed. Nothing special or expensive but it serves my purpose. I envy all of you here, especially Luke! Not in a negative way at all. Just makes me wish I was able to do what Luke and others here do. Outstanding channel and teacher!
Hi from Syracuse NY brother and thank you for sharing your thoughts and adventures. I hope you and Susan are staying safe and healthy and enjoying your cross country trip
Luke you forgot one reason why these tents and other items are hard to fine. You! You do such a good job breaking them down, showing the pros and cons that when you give something the thumbs up we, the people, go and buy them. Keep it up. Agenda Free!!!!! Nate

Hi, just wanted to thank you for one of your earlier reviews on Marmot, Minimalist jacket. Just got it and it has been amazing. Cycling in rain, standing under waterfall, 10/10
Really great. As noted by others, you can get similar aftermarket for the 3F UL Lanshan 2. But this looks brilliant, good price, and you and others have tested it! Will really help people to get out there. Very happy to see.
you're the reason I bought all my litefighter gear... 2 one man tents( under $200 for both), one groundsheet (under $50), one cold weather kit (on sale, under $100) one extra set of poles($45), and a camo net ($65) so I can have 2 tents and a sniper's hide. This makes for a nice solution for the sniper and the spotter. I wish I had bought 2 of the cold weather kits. Thanks, Luke!
Greetings from Norway. Thank you for the review. Glad you mentioned that is suitable for average winter hiking. Ideally, for use in the winter up here, the outer should extend all the way to the ground. Moreover, due to the lack of space, cooking food or use a stove for additional heat, looks kind a tight. The price is very nice!
I really like the ics tent which is very similar, you could even stake out an extra tarp over the top and bring it down to cover the front door for more protection and a second vestibule.
Looks like a great investment for winter treks :) Lightwieght and it maintains some warmth. If you check out the gear they use for the base camps on Everest - the construction is similar.
for the wind issue I feel like a simple diy solution will be one of two things. 1 get some of those tape magnet strips that you can cut. Just get four 1 inch long sections, two each side of tge zipper door, and just glue it on. Simple will keep it "close" while making it easy for you to open it. 2. Basically the above but with velco strips and a sewing kit. Likely more effective but is more work.

I've made do without these by just tucking the vestibules into the sides. Condensation is a problem doing that, of course, but in the high deserts up in the West it can be a godsend. Definitely going to pick one of these up before my next AT.
Mine will arrive today, ordered the entire kit after watching your previous video. Also added the extra guy lines and stakes. Thanks a million and keep up the good work!! One thing. Necroposting. Just got the Lightfighter 2, love it. A note on the "gear loops" inside the tent. I think they are also set up for use as an internal guy system. LiteFighter 1 seems to pair well with an Army-issue cot. With the winter package, a fella can be off the ground, have a dry place to sit, have space underneath the cot to protect gear. Only an active soldier can carry it in...but, once squared away and free from interference, this makes a powerful package.
You said the tent can be “picked up for around $100”. Where? Lite fighter wants around $350! eBay starts around $180 for used. Other than the weight this is a awesome tent. Thanks for the review!
It's a bandaid ,but if you use, rare earth magnets with fabric adhesive you can create a better door seal. In and out side of t h e original tent, place the magnets on both sides by the zipper... on the outside of the 4 season cover place a 3rd magnetic. After you have everything in place you can use fabric adhesive. You may want to do two sets, one on each side of t h e zipper. I'd space them, 2 to 3 inches away from the zipper. Nice video.
I just use an old Lightwave Crux X2 Storm tent for Winter. It is quite heavy by modern standards at 2.9 Kg but is a full 4 pole Scandium alloy Geodesic 4 season design. Purchased the tent for around £175 about 10 years ago.
Luke should try using it attached to a military cot. I’m in the National Guard and we use it on cots all the time. Its like a private bunk in the field.
Yes, I confirm that. Its good. I bought one because of you and I am happy. Its solid and some of my friends got one too (mono-place and bi-place). But in my country, no commerce have it, and buying from out side Europe is expensive. You say 100 bucks, I say 250 here...(just the tent).

I’ve been a happy camper for almost a full year with this tent. Now with winter coming I am definitely buying one of the conversion kits in November for some cold weather camping.🤙
Where are you seeing this tent for $100? I can't find it anywhere, even used, for under $250. You have convinced me to just buy it, but if I can save money compared to $350 on their website I'd love to!
At the point of 7:00 that peice of velcro is actually there for your name tag to be displayed on the tent so it's easy for people to identify who's tent is who's
I have a Black Diamond tent that is nearly identical, as are several other tents on the market. I toyed with the idea of sewing up similar panels to toss over the mesh for winter. I almost never use a tent so I haven't done it yet.
3FUL gear Lanshan 1/2 come as 3 and 4 season tents, but the inners can be bought separately. Still need different stakes for winter use though. Drawback is that it's a trekking pole tent, and the vestibule(s) tend to have a large gap between the fly and the ground. It is of course possible to lower the height of the poles to mitigate that issue, but doing so might make it harder to get proper tension to the inner and fly.
I totally got this tent based on your review. It's great. Sewed in some guy line points at the head and foot per your suggestion as well and ventilation is almost too good 🤣 I love being camo sometimes even if the tent is heavy as f*ck. You get a lot of durability and functionality with that weight
I got mine from a old teammate after he retired from the teams. He had his EW cover copied out of 3 poncho liners. Works FN great when the weather calls for it. Sadly or not, that means snow storms of 8''+, winds of 30mph+and temp of 10`or less. Otherwise I stay with my ECW's and a poncho+2liners and call it good!
Nice design! One of my personal favourite tent also has similar design, they have a winter lining sold seperately. Star 2 designed by The Free Spirits, it's a Chinese brand not well known aboard. Maybe you can test some of their products.
Thanks for the tip. My tent was stolen off my bike, didn't tip the door lady at the supermarket, came out of the store, my tent and bag were gone. I want a tent with a solid inner, hot weather isn't a problem for me in Sweden.
Just bought a Litefighter 1 and I'm getting my money right for the cold weather kit. Can't wait to get this out! After watching your videos on it I was sold and now my hunt for one of these is over.
You could put the bug net zippers at the bottom of the door and take the zipper pull from the winter door and zip it between with a carabiner on it so it doesn't slip back through, maybe

Drawback is that it's a trekking pole tent, and the vestibule(s) tend to have a large gap between the fly and the ground. It is of course possible to lower the height of the poles to mitigate that issue, but doing so might make it harder to get proper tension to the inner and fly.
I love my marmot limelight 3p...its served me well in winter...but id like to try this
Just can’t get a complete kit in the UK. Great video thank you
That liner would be next level it if was insulated like a woobie. Great review Luke!
Would be heavy and not breathable if it was insulated.
I totally got this tent based on your review. It's great. Sewed in some guy line points at the head and foot per your suggestion as well and ventilation is almost too good 🤣
I love being camo sometimes even if the tent is heavy as f*ck. You get a lot of durability and functionality with that weight
It really is a genius conversion kit. Nice. 💯❤👍
What a great concept
Looks pretty cool
Nice design! One of my personal favourite tent also has similar design, they have a winter lining sold seperately. Star 2 designed by The Free Spirits, it's a Chinese brand not well known aboard. Maybe you can test some of their products.
Watching now!!!!!
The Lanshan has a 4 season solid inner you can buy, though I'm not sure what else may be included.
Thanks for the tip. My tent was stolen off my bike, didn't tip the door lady at the supermarket, came out of the store, my tent and bag were gone. I want a tent with a solid inner, hot weather isn't a problem for me in Sweden.
@@lindatisue733 owww, that hurts.
Just bought a Litefighter 1 and I'm getting my money right for the cold weather kit. Can't wait to get this out! After watching your videos on it I was sold and now my hunt for one of these is over.
Yeah well, too late...they don't sell them anymore
@@kurtrussell5228 I just bought the cold weather kit like 3 days ago. Arrives tomorrow. What do you mean they don’t sell them anymore?
@@GryphonIndustrial go check their website
@@kurtrussell5228 Coming up fine for me. Shows the litefighter 1 X, the lite fighter 1, and the cold weather kit for sale.
You could put the bug net zippers at the bottom of the door and take the zipper pull from the winter door and zip it between with a carabiner on it so it doesn't slip back through, maybe
