2 solid reason why Tamil movies are not working in North belt are…
1. Poor promotions
2. Always releasing our movies with other big movies… Beast (the content was average)versus KGF 2, Jailer versus Gadar 2.
When Baahubali 2, Pushpa, KGF 2 & RRR released, the makers made sure they went to as many cities as possible to promote the movie & made sure there were no other major releases.
Vikram had no other big bankable stars other than Kamal. FaFa and VJS are popular but not in the box office.
PS 1 is heavily story and screenplay driven, it’s not easy for North belt to understand. I think they enjoyed it more on OTT.
I feel the dubbing quality also matters. Rajamouli prashanth Neel kind of directors take extra care in that. Other than endiran no other movies had enough dubbing quality
Malayalam movie Romancham budget 1 crore and total collection 70 crores. Content is always king. Drishyam is also examples but let’s keep it aside.

Ranjith is the only director who handled big character like Rajinikanth in proper way. Kaala is one of the best film in Rajinikanth's career. He had scope to show his performance as well.

True. Not a fan of Nelson but watched it only for Rajini nostalgia and theatrical experience. Liked the first half but second half was disappointing.
The biggest problem with the so called award winning reviewers is they can never accept the fact that the majority of the audience thoroughly enjoyed the movie which in turn shows in the collections and yet they try to force feed their opinions. Let’s face it, you are a Kamal Hassan fan and there’s nothing wrong in that and just because you are a reviewer doesn’t mean you are always correct. Even you ARE DEFINITELY biased.
The biggest problem with so called art based movie critics is that they don’t enjoy commercial cinema even if the whole theatre is so satisfied. They hate star driven movies!

Nelson beast was not sumaar. For its genre it was good, I personally liked seeing Vijay in a non mass role. Beast to Vijay is like kabali or kaala for rajni, taking break from usual mass heavy films. Beast was more laidback. Now comin to baddy, first of fall these content films like PS-1,2 laam won’t work (for me and major audience) we need strong entertaining screenplay to keep engaged. It could be a whodunit, serious love story, proper revenge/mass rajni film. Jailer fulfilled exactly that in last category

This is true because Jailer is not Nelson comeback since he only made 4 movies 3 of them hit and Beast is not so doesn't make Jailer is comeback for Nelson but its comeback for Rajini past 5 years his movie flopped and huge loss for producer so Jailer makes big at box office now. Also when it comes to Vijay, Ajith or Rajini the directors can't make full director film due to their type of fanbase so even though Leo is lokesh film but there's gonna be sprinkle of Vijay things to satisfy their audience.

Kaala(his own son-in law production and they declared movie is profitable) , 2.O(table profit as per shankar's interview), Petta(profitable for Sun), Darbar( did 150 crore in first 4 days as per the official report and had a long run due to absence of movies due to covid till KKK, some distributors did loss drama and no trace of them after one press meet), Annaaththe( Rajini himself said in hoote platform that Movie is profitable for producers,we know Rajini,he seldom lies)
If Rajini's previous 5-6 films are flop, no one will be ready to produce his movie and distributors wont buy the movie for release, this is a driven agenda by media due to his political interest during those period, dont fall into that trap.

For a South Indian film to do well in Hindi, it should have good story, interesting screenplay and something unique and different, and it should be a non star dependent movie, If you take Kamal and Rajni out of Vikram and Jailer the movie would have fizzled even in TN but with any hero Bhauballi or RRR would have been a hit in any language. In other words the core of the movie shouldn't have a deeply rooted south Indian flavor to become a hit in Hindi. Roja and Bombay had a bit of South Indian content but the core of the movie had a deep Indian sentiment in it to become successful.
