I have an Eric Young phrag species that I have transferred into semi hydroponics using rain water and liquid fertilizer for S/H. It is slow growing and it may be due to the fact it's January. The blooms were adorable last season. I was quite surprised when the bloom just dropped off. Glad that you mentioned that w a s normal. there is now a new growth and hopefully ill see this sweet sequential bloomer her thing this year. I'm a big fan of your video's. Thanks! Jayne
Just picked one of these up with it's first bloom on the spike, looking forward to the sequential blooming.
YAY! Early video!
Thecrazy-o Early and bonus video, at least two for this weekend still
very cool orchid brad I just saw a beautiful Phrag at my local orchid society meeting it was a show stopper
Growing Things thanks, some of them are really nice! I like the ones will the long petals that basically hit the ground
yeah they have long curly petals that one was at my society meeting very cool
I've had 2 phrags for 3 years and they've never bloomed or attempted it. They've both only made one new growth each. They are insanely slow. I keep them moist at all times, too.
***** i have one like that...never bloomed for me.
Thank you for all your videos, I enjoy them so much. What kind of water do you use for your Phrag? I didn't realize how particular they are until bought them, don't have reverse osmosis. thanks.
Ok thanks
Amazing. I had one Phrag and it got stem rot and died because I topped the surface with spagh moss to try to increase humidity. I guess the spagh moss stayed too wet next to the stem and rot set in- a painful lesson.
Elona Hartjes ive lost a few that way too! i now really try to keep water and media from sitting near the base of the plant or in the leaves
When you going to do air plant update???? Love to see them again!
Jake Attard I try to do them quarterly, so it will be about 1-2 months before the next one
Is tap water ok for phrags
Please do an air plant update love them so much
Bro Boy I try to do them quarterly, so it will be about 1-2 months before the next one
it's actually phragmipedium not phragmipedilum; also it's cut leh ya not cuta leh yah.... :)
A number of the Phrag growers in the Houston Orchid Society find they respond well to Semi-Hydro growing.
david Boedeker good to know, is that with the little clay balls?
***** Yes Also using K-Lite Fertilizer. More info on K-Lite can be found on the Slipper Orchid Forum. The pellet do not break down and let you go for a long time not bothering the roots by repotting.
Phrag-mi-pee-dee-um... there is no way to cross a phragmipedium with a paphiopedilum... therefore there is no phragmipedilum
