I do not agree. Sadly - the system needs people who have no clue and make bad life decisions serially. Not everyone can be a milionaire, the society would collapse. It is sad but we need people who have no choice in doing jobs nobody wants to do. It is the base of the pyramid of society, and it has always been.
Having a choice is one of the most important luxuries in life. And as with every luxury- it is not availible for everyone

The younger generations are really done a disservice by the "romanticization of work". So many people seem to have bought into the idea that you need to be "passionate" about your job or you will live a miserable life. Some people do get that lucky, but I think its pretty rare. Instead, I wish people were told to strive for a stable, well-paying job that gives them a healthy work-life balance so that they have plenty of free time to pursue their passions, without having to monetize them. Don't accept being MISERABLE at work, but you also don't need work to fulfill every one of your dreams and personal ambitions. I swear, this whole romanticization of work is only to brainwash people into working BS unpaid internships and accept criminally low wages. It just seems like another manipulative tool of capitalism.

Muh capitalism 🫨🥱.. if you can't make it in a capitalistic society then you're weak, nobody is stopping you from creating a business venture and using capitalism to it's full potential, all the anti capitalist sentiment in our society is a direct result of a weakening society who just wants and expects more for minimal effort..

@@derangedone13 agree. While I wouldn’t stay at a job I hated I’m just working for the money and to pay my bills, save money ect. I think also it’s important to realize it’s okay to work to live, clock out at 5 and go live your life off your work hours. A lot of people aren’t passionate about their jobs, but separate it in their heads to have the means to do what they want when they’re not working. No shame in that.

I'm not saying his parents need to kick him out, but they are enabling him. If they are wealthy enough that he will never need to "launch", so be it. I actually did earn my living as a musician when I was in my 20’s. Of course I had roommates and was living on tap water and ramen noodles but I was making it. But the lead up to that was me working regular jobs while I furthered my music career. It sounds like his parents are letting him do this while he’s proving that he isn’t making it. Who knows? I wouldn't categorize the OP's comments as harsh, but more truthful and pointed. Plain truth is something that is missing today. Many will just skirt around an issue and not say what they mean for fear of hurting someone's feelings.
The truth is, of course his happiness is 9/10 because there are "unhappy" people providing for him.
Edited to add: I appreciate how you showed him how little you tubers make with views.

If you have to register your business name and pay taxes, it's a job. Influencers have to register their business with the government and make sure they pay taxes. This person hasn't made a successful business out of it, that's fair. But it absolutely can be a business if run properly and bringing in revenue.

@@Life.Love.Locs. Sure, it COULD be. But, it isn't. If I pay to collect stamps, it's a hobby. If I buy stamps and sell them and make a profit, it's a job. Unfortunately, depite his wishful thinking, the young man has not made his hobby into a business.

I make less than but close to $100 a month on UA-cam. It used to be more. I’m in it 10 years now. Hundreds of hours of labor. It’s so much harder to break through now than it used to be. Just a handful of videos make all the profits. You need to be constantly improving to stay relevant.

It was really interesting to see you respectfully and effectively respond to someone... Not making it at all and seeming really spaced out. I dunno if this is even about passion or art at the point he's pursued it. Someone determined to paint would eventually sell some pieces at a local cafe, someone determined to be a musician would get gigs, a huge range of traditional art can be directed into furry commissions.
Videos... Well he clearly hasn't found the way yet even after a strong internship which is strange. Everything about his situation is strange and disconnected.

Young man do not liquidate your crypto, he does not understand the value of your crypto bag you can live with your parents for free. Don’t abuse it though contribute around the house , don’t let your dad do everything. Yes volunteer your services to build your skill set and your experience because everybody that’s hiring Wants you to have 3 to 5 years of professional work experience And then circle back around to build your channel and your brand( another 2 to 5 years you’ll be in your late 20s and your crypto will have quadrupled by then so leave it alone. You don’t need to spend it that is your $10,000 savings that he is asking you to get, but while your parents have not kicked you out of the house yet, you need to leverage that. Let them know you’re going to gain professional work experience working for bigger UA-camrs and they will be all for it, good luck!

Surely he must already know what you advised him but it was kind of you to explain what's what in the industry and about the need to grind and network and get sponsorships to succeed or risk being subsidized by mommy and daddy perhaps indefinitely. You don’t automatically get a associates degree for two years of credits. You have to follow a degree plan that cumulatively teaches you a specific subject, & skill. Sounds like he was somewhere into completing general credits, didn’t declare a major and maybe dabled in intro courses which is all very common.

I think the youtubers who began earlier like Pewdiepie started when it was easier to make more. But what's irritating is that youtubers like Markiplier tell their audience that anyone can do it. All it takes is effort. When youtubers tell their young audience this it gives them that unrealistic hope. Markiplier at least got an engineering degree.

The younger generations don't seem to be taught about playing the long game. The fact is there is no such thing as an overnight success, anywhere or on UA-cam (and only a tiny % make enough to make a liveable wage), Crypto will never make you a millionaire. If you want to make money you have to work hard and work long and save and invest. This is never taught now. Everyone wants the result without the work. The internet is teaching everyone awful lessons in life and work.
