A few years ago Elway was on a radio show I was listening to and he mentioned the sequence at the end of the first half of this game. Said after the Griffith TD they were happy if they could go into halftime ahead but after the Steelers mismanaged the clock on offense and Gordon ran that punt back 20 yards they thought "hey we can get another quick one here." They did and it turned out to be the difference in the game.
Offensively the turnovers hurt the Steelers but there was also a lack of playmaking on defense. Gregg Lloyd on the sidelines and Rod Woodson in San Francisco.
The Steelers defense didn’t give up a single point In the 2nd half . To many mistakes by the offense in the second half . The difference in the end was a missed norm Johnson field goal in the 1st quarter.
Steeler Fan loves to complain about how Kordell Stewart lost him an AFC Championship, but that dude could flat ball. He was better than Michael Vick, yeah I said it. Vick had two or three good seasons in an offense geared toward his strengths. Kordell did the same despite being stuck in Bill Cowher's bass akwards pro-style offenses.
And how is Bill cowher hall of fame His Steelers choked almost every afc championship they played in under him. That’s legendary now? Same applies to overrated dungy.
@@joshuahansen7388 listening to Mark Schlereth on 104.3 the fan in Denver. He thinks it’s crazy also that Shanahan isn’t in before these guys either. He blames it on the nfl thinking he might come back to coach and they don’t want a guy in the hall coaching 🤷♂️
Cowher never really had the guy but was generally always in the mix. Maybe if he had big Ben the whole time he could've won a couple more. Dungy had manning....we'll, not sure
@@joshuahansen7388 I disagree. Mike Shanahan has Barry Switzer syndrome. He inherited a talented team with a HOF franchise QB, won with them, then the franchise QB left and was nowhere near as successful. Shanahan had a burst one year with Jake Plummer, but he's mostly been a dud Post-Elway. Mike Tomlin is in the same boat. Inherited a stacked Steeler team from his predecessor, won with them, now he has to prove he can win with his new squad. Cowher won a lot with the Steelers despite inferior QB's and he won once he finally got a franchise Quarterback.
I have this recorded on vhs tape still. Priceless video
I have the 5 Bronco embarrassing Super Bowl losses on VHS. Priceless videos.

@@BroncoJosh you’re ok
Can't ever have enough Johnny Ballgame! Thank you, Go Broncos!
TD baby. What a beast
Last year NBC had the AFC games before CBS took it over
In a way it's rather poetic that the final NFL game on NBC (under the AFC package) is the AFC ending their long Super Bowl losing streak.
I miss the old NFL, hits and officiating nowadays is too penalty heavy
I do too but I'd rather these guys be able to walk in their old age
Awe, yes! A game where defenses were allowed to cover and hit hard.
Bettis vs. Davis. Interesting.
Not really. TD looks leaps and bounds better than Bettis. This, when both were in their prime.
Let the first sequence of plays sum up where this game was headed.
The Broncos handed the Steelers a gun who consistently shot themselves in the foot.
Offensively the turnovers hurt the Steelers but there was also a lack of playmaking on defense.

Miss Cowher😎
John Elway can still run it

Especially when Stewart there int by goal and romo mocked him pointing at his head.
i remember readin' romo was sayin', "use your head, dumbshit!!" something to that extent..
Just image if Kordell Stewart made the super bowl.. im a broncos fan..
That would've been weird 🤣
There's not a single mma guy that wants to get in that scrum
There's no weight classes in the nfl

Kordell today would be an all-pro
He was ok but they couldn't quite get over the hump with him
U drunk vick never played in a offense geared towards him till he got to the eagles and he balled out
400 lb monsters that are angry AF.

It's a crime either of them got into the HOF before the more qualified Mike Shannahan

Bill won a helluva lot of games with no franchise QB. Give him Tom Brady and he’d have easily of won four Super Bowls.
