  • The Ferry Building is a historic ferry terminal and marketplace located in San Francisco, California. The building was designed in 1892 by architect A. Paige Brown and was completed in 1898. When the building opened, it was the largest project undertaken in the city up to that time. The Ferry Building’s clock tower is modeled after the La Giralda in Seville, Spain. The tower has become one of the major landmarks of San Francisco, and is also on the National Register Of Historic Places. Even though the Ferry Building was mildly damaged during the 1906 and 1989 earthquakes that hit San Francisco, the building survived. The clock also contains a BRG carillon that rings every half hour.
