Thanks. I've heard that sequencing on Korg workstations is fairly idiosyncratic but it looks pretty straightforward!

Question..I’ve recorded a multi track sequence or song .. can it now bounce all of those tracks to an audio track in the same song?
I was hoping that this would help with extra panning and stereo separation ideas. Wondering how to set the audio inputs etc.... I guess I could just sample the entire song as a wave file but I was wondering if there was an easier way. Thanks!

How do I continue the loop to play to the end of the song? I'm debating whether to make my own instructional videos as I learn but I'm not very good at instructional videos. :(

There are a couple ways to loop music while in Sequencer mode. If you want to loop the whole song, go to the Preference tab in Sequence Mode. Look for "Loop All Tracks" under the Recording Setup section, and then punch in the start and stop measures you want looped. If you want, say a drum track looped, you would go to the Play/REC tab > MIDI Track Loop tab, select the track(s) you want looped, and then the start and stop measures for each track. Then you can play a live track over that.

However, if you are trying to find pre-programmed loops, you can turn on KARMA for just about any sound and get a rhythm going.

Tom, you can easily create about any kind of drum fill/riff/break/etc., you want. There really are several ways to do this, but probably the most obvious is in pattern edit. It's very simple. Select presets, which give you all those drum patterns you can choose from. (Make sure the track you're going to use is set for drums, not a piano or guitar sound). From the pattern edit menu, select "put to MIDI track" and hit ok. What it means is you're "putting" or taking the pattern you selected and recording it directly (with having to play anything) into the track you specify. After that, go back to presets to select the next drum pattern you wish, in your case perhaps a snare solo/fill. Once you select that, you'll want to put it (automatically records) to the same track, at the measure you choose. Do that by again choosing from the pattern edit menu "put to MIDI track". However, look at the measure it will start at, and choose the measure you wish, perhaps the fill is on bar 7, then select the number 7. The first drum pattern will play bars 1-6, and guess what? Your drum break will appear on bar 7, exactly as you want. Kronos is king, what a synth!

btw, if you want to play the drum break manually, instead of choosing a drum pattern, then the procedure is a bit different, if you need this, let me know and I'll explain how. :)

Is there a way to UNDO a recording? It's painfully missing as far as I can tell....thanks

He erases a track at 2:53.

Do you mean erase a song, track, measure, or the last notes you recorded? You get one undo using the "Compare" button. It's a button up top near Global, Disk, and the Help buttons. That, are the Erase Track at 2:53 as mentioned. You can also erase a song by clicking on the Page Menu dropdown on the top right while in Sequencer Mode. You'll want to select "Initialize Song" to erase the song, and then of course save it all to disk when you're done. Lastly, my favorite and most used feature is the MIDI Event Edit function which allows you to see every note, how hard the notes were played, and for how long. You can cut and add notes, or shift them. That might be getting a little too advanced though : ).

      The undo is called compare.

How can I find video 1-11?

On certain midi tracks in my sequencer the track plays another track simultaneously and i can't figure out why... it's driving me nuts.

    • @Kitebrice

I think it is because the various timbres are affected to the same midi channel

Thanks for the short, but very well presented tutorial. Did you make more? I found the sequencer to be awesome, it's just amazing how much control and how many features are on it. I was comparing it with a few other sequencers, one from Yamaha, and those were easy but didn't offer anywhere near the powerhouse ability in the Kronos. All I can say to the sequencer is wow! It kicks ass! (and it's really very easy to use, just read the owner's manual!).

it seems to me he had to go trough various menus and dialogues on a touch screen just to record 2 tracks....?
      idk.
      and,
can you record a (drum) loop on track 1 and then record track 2 without stopping?
i mean like, record some multi looping tracks in a one-go-performance ?
i can on my yamaha , it's a nice way to work. I want to buy this machine but i'm not sure it has all these features i got used to, so it seems a bit scary to switch.... :/

you can get my email if still struggling, nickienok@gmail.com, i'm doing a complete set of tutorials on the Kronos sequencer next month, it will be much more detailed than this, he is ok, but he assumes you already know things that are very important to know, and he just skips it, I don't know why. I won't make that same mistake, I know how to teach and understand the sequencer much better than he does. But don't misunderstand, he did very nice presentation, it's worth viewing.

Peter, did you ever make the videos? I would be very interested. I am trying to do simple "live" loops and I am failing big time. I am used to my BOSS for the guitar, where you can just loop tracks live very easily. Can Kronos do something like that with the sequencer? Thanks!

How can i save a song made in the sequencer, with all its effects and external audio tracks into Logic pro ?

You can connect a 1/4 inch jack or the USB out or of the Kronos to a DAW and record it live from the sequencer. You can buy a compatible USB CD-R player and burn a .WAV file to disk.
