I watch your videos and I get so jealous.😔😩😂 I live in zone 12b in Hawaii and I am only recently trying to propagate some cuttings I’ve gotten from a friend. I have a brown turkey fig from a loval Home Depot about 7 months ago. No fruit yet. I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on how you think figs would do here in the tropical area. Alot of moisture here. Planning on growing them in containers like yourself. Thanks and aloha🙏🏼🤙🏼
I do not sell any fig trees or cuttings. I am here to help guide and assist my fellow fig enthusiasts and to further promote interest in my favorite hobby. Thanks you for your comment.
so upset with myself, picked 2 very large yellow long neck figs yesterday, bigger than the one here featured, they weren't ready yet!! don't know when to pick them!! Got to wait until truly yellow
Hi, Dave! Of course, such things are generally very subjective. However, in my opinion, Peter's Honey is far superior to any of the other so called Honey figs I've ever grown. Thanks for watching, Lou Monti
Hey Does your yellow long neck change color based on temperature and humidity. I was looking at other videos from other people and it looks like the case. I wonder what your's will look by the end of September. I think it is the same fig they are calling now golden rainbow or Ben golden riverside. Thank you for sharing.
@@loumonti10 Yellow neck fig is cheap. The Golden rainbow and Bens golden riverside are selling out. Like the PonteTresa was selling a few years, before that it was Galicia Negra
Most of my fig video's are dated. It should be noted that Yellow Long Neck takes a bit longer than most varieties to ripen once the fig begins to swell. The longer you wait to pick it the better the taste. Take care
I've mentioned my zone a thousand times in my videos!!! Drives me nuts when people don't appreciate free videos for the public good, without payment, reward, or any personal gain!!!
I'm sorry, Mario, as I've explained many times I have never sold a fig tree, cutting, or anything else in over 50 years of growing things. Growing fruits, berries, and vegetables, especially organically when I can, has become a great love affair for me over the many years. What a wonderful hobby I have enjoyed! My channel was started and continued for the purpose of sharing my experiences and disseminating what I've learned over a lifetime, publicly, and to a wide audience, thanks to UA-cam. Although this has always been my primary purpose, at some point in the future, I will most likely auction off my fig collection for the primary purpose of preserving it into perpetuity and for the enormous satisfaction that it will bring to me, personally, in knowing that my wonderful fig trees, which I have come to love and treasure so very much over the years, will survive and be enjoyed by others for many years to come well into the future! Thanks for watching, and regards from, Lou Monti
I'm sorry, but my videos have been made strictly for educational purposes, having fun, for free, and for the purpose of providing information to those seeking more knowledge about growing figs. My purpose is to, hopefully, encourage more individuals to become fig hobbyist and to enjoy my favorite pastime. I enjoy making them and sincerely hope you enjoy them. I don't sell fig trees or cuttings. Thanks for watching! Lou Monti
Hi, Omar! I have about 100 informational videos that I've made for the general public. Your certainly welcome to watch them and I wish you the very best of luck! Regards, Lou Monti
No, Yellow Long Neck is absolutely not the same as Long Yellow! There is absolutely no question about that. I have written about this subject several times on selected fig forums. Y.L.N. is very similar to (probably the same) as Ben's Golden Riverside, now called Golden Rainbow. There is also a separate fig variety named Golden Riverside which originated from U.C.Davis, in California, which is entirely separate also. Long yellow is a completely different variety from all of the others. Take care! Lou Monti
Wow!! Such great figs!! Very inspiring!! Thank~You!! @

A question for you Lou: do figs only grow on current years growth for main crop and last year's growth for breba crops?
Yes, that's correct. I do cover that subject in several of my videos. Regards! Lou Monti
@@loumonti10 that makes pruning a very important skill for maximizing fig production!

That may very well be. I have posted my opinion in this regard on Rafeds, but I have not come to a conclusion. Therefore, I am making no such claim.

Awesome... How long it takes a yellow long neck fig from appearing on the branch untill it ripens?
About 90 to 100 days. I never count them.
What type of fertilizer do you use on your figs?
