    I first fell in love with Namiki Maki-e pens, and wanted them all. Then I saw Chinkin, and wanted all of them, as well. But I was never rich, and managed to get only two Namiki Maki-pens. Now I'm old, disabled, and retired, so I will buy no more. But I have those two, andI can see others. Videos like this one make my heart ache.
    Those who create such pens are true artisans, and the fountain pens they create are works of a Rembrandt or a da Vinci you can hold in your hand and use. There are those who simply put these pens on display, who never fill them with ink and use them. I thing this is an insult to the creator, and to the pen.
    Many say these pens are two expensive, but that is nonsense. They are unbelievably cheap. Try buying a Rembrandt or a da Vinci, or even a Monet, beautiful works of art that you can only look at, but that cost many millions of dollars. These pens, too, are works of art, and require a talent and a skill level that only a tiny, tiny few possess. Yet compared to many types of art they are dirt cheap, and the artisan is barely rewarded with money.
    They arte heart-wrenchingly beautiful, and to own such a work of art for only a few thousand dollars is almost as amazing as the pen itself.

    That is absolutely the most beautiful inlay art I've ever seen.
    It inspires me to live life with intention of true perfection.

    I just had an amazing day, I went to the doctors and I noticed that he was using a fountain pen, and I expressed my interest in them, and how I was hesitant to use one because I'm a lefty and that I've never used one before, he offered to let me try it out and of course I took him up on his offer and I went to give it back to him after struggling to use it, he put his hand up and said that I could keep it and to keep practicing. Hes so fucking cool

    • @Gouletpens
      @Gouletpens  8 років тому +7

      That's super cool. What kind of pen is it, do you know? And you can definitely still use a fountain pen as a leftie. Check out our blog on the subject with pen/paper/ink recommendations based on your writing style: blog.gouletpens.com/2015/08/fp101-fountain-pens-for-lefties.html - Colin

    Although I myself will never buy one of those beautiful pens, even before seeing this video I knew what they were about. Its the artistic and uniqueness of each item. I have the same affinity to modifying cars, guns, and knives, be it custom work or just small changes. It is special, and if done by someone outstanding, like Kramer, or Palos. But this is another level, so much more detail and fine craftsmanship, as hard as it is on just a near flat block, I cannot imagine it on a pen body.

      Anyone who would dislike this video is just a little A-hole who will never do anything or be anythi ng, so he has to do things such as dislike a video that others love. It's his way of trying to look important, above other people, when he's really just an insignificant A-hole who may as well lie down and die.

      We do have another video that goes into more detail on the pens (ua-cam.com/video/oBcgr_zXT30/v-deo.html) but doesn't feature writing samples, but they should perform similarly to other high end Pilot pens. - Colin

      I agree with you about how the yukari moonlight raden is beautiful. I think the reason why they don't showcase it in this video is that it uses inlay techniques, which has a somewhat different process than engraving. I hope Pilot makes a video on the moonlight raden, it definitely deserves it.

    Amazing work, a beautifull artstyle and pen that is created with it. That said, even if I had the money to buy one of these pens, I probably would not. It is so expensive/special, that I would just be afraid of accidentally damaging the pen or the artwork on it, and therefore never use it. ;)
