What a great idea!!!! I was just thinking the other day that I wanted to paint or somehow change the color of my blades. I changed the color scheme of my helis so now my blades looks very out of place. Unfortunately, I have no wooden blades. Only fiberglass ones.
Oooh! I didn't think about ink! I knew paint was out. Hence why I still have less then beautiful blades. lol The thing is, I bought a boat load of blades when I got a great deal (50 pairs for 20 bucks... from a friend who closed his hobby store). Now I'm kinda stuck with em. Could turn around and sell em I guess. I have some ink around. I use it to paint miniatures. But nt enough to do some blades me thinks. Anywho, thanks for the info!!! *runs to the art store for ink*
@erikdravn It doesn't take very much.Keep in mind that a half a gram of ink is enough to print many pages. You can also use RIT clothing dye, but that works better on the plastic stuff like the landing gear legs and plastic tail blades. Keep in mind that patterns and details won't be visible in the air, so the only reason to do this is either for "show blades" that you won't fly with, or to improve visibility.
@jasmine2501 Yes I know, my sister is flying to both heli and plane, and she is here the only one at our club. She had a nice custom girly heli, and that was the one that the girls always liked ;-) but as a learning heli, it didn't survive very long. but yes, it would be nice to see some more girls around the rc model flying scene
@erikdravn You can use INK on fiberglass blades - no paint, it's too heavy. Nobody really uses wood blades anymore, I just did the video because I was doing my blades for the show.
@jimmanyk I will be doing some more of these how-to videos in the future. I wish we could watch Blue Peter here, but I don't think I can get it. I like to watch kids shows while I do my cleaning on saturday mornings.
@marcelh85 Yes, very pretty :) I did that on purpose so when I take the helicopter to shows, it will attract attention from the girls. We're very short on girls in this hobby, so if there's something I can do to help, I will do it. I also have some pink planes. Girls like to personalize things, so if we can show them that this is a creative hobby, maybe they will be interested.
