    Hired one of these for a 200 mile trip with 3 passengers, front seats get massage and the rear passengers were very comfortable. It also had the 5.0 liter supercharged motor, which probably came straight out a sports car. Really glad I choose this car over the G class, made the trip worth memorable.

    Nice to see a reviewer speak honestly about Range Rover reliability, basically it doesn't have any reliability!! My boss had one, but we never saw it, because it spent most of its time at the dealers getting repaired for anything from electrical glitches, but the last straw was an expensive diff fix, for which my boss then ditched the RR in favour of a Cayenne, which has run near faultless.

      The only Luxury Line BMW make is the 7 Series... Anything below a 7 Series is just a car...

    • @Cynchronia
      @Cynchronia 10 років тому

      Ha ha, hilarious! I think a lot of folk relate luxury with cost or certain brands. The BMW SUVs are not in that league either let alone the 5 series - M or otherwise.

    • @RudyBloor
      @RudyBloor 10 років тому

      Malcolm Mead The 5 series is manufactured in two different lines/trims. The luxury line and the modern line.

    • @malcolmmead9794
      @malcolmmead9794 10 років тому

      Rudy Swerve The point I was trying to make is the 5 series is nothing compared to the 7 series... When you pull up in a 5 series, no-one bats an eye lid, but when you pull up in a 7 series, people know you have serious money to be able to afford to buy one... I have only bought 7 series in the BMW range, because it's the big dogs wheels...

    • @RudyBloor
      @RudyBloor 10 років тому

      Malcolm Mead The point you were trying to make is to make him look stupid because he called it the luxury line when that's the actual name of the trim. Anyway, no one cares about a 7. At least from my experience having driven the 2012 many times. Id rather an S class, but if you want people to stop what they're doing and look at your car, you have to at least get to the astons.

    Some comments here, really believe if the car is not German, its shit. Look on the internet and see the amount of problems German cars have. BMW / VW engine failures. Electrical problems. DSG Gearbox failures. Remember the shit build quality, and elk flip test of the 1st Gen Merc A class? Mercedes were also known for rust problems with their cars. German cars, are not as reliable or as well built as they use to be.

    I am mightily impressed by the New Range Rover and I have now placed it above my previous favourite, the Audi A8 4.2 TDi. My only concern, that may be unfounded, concerns reliability issues that, with the advent of the New RR, could be unfounded. I really hope so, as I think this Car is a world beater that deserves to succeed!

    Resell value means fuck all to how good a car is. Old Jags had shit resale value, but they were awesome cars. And while Lexus is more reliable, they can't touch RR in terms of luxury.

  • @L110508
    @L110508 11 років тому +1

    I owned a RR back in 2007, and the reliability was a big problem. Sometimes the sound system couldn't be turned on, and had to shut off the car for more than a minute and turned on again. Then few times when I washed the car, one side of the suspension ended up lower or higher. Then few times the engine was jerking while driving in low speed, and one time ended up breaking down in a traffic. These happened in the first year of a brand new car.

    I wish JLR would make a low-spec, basic Range Rover that harks back to the original 70s one with an interior that you can hose out after a day in the mud. Something like a Range Rover/Defender cross. That would be one hell of a niche market though.

    I actually wanted to buy one. I had everything set up with the dealer and figured the test drive would be more or less pro forma. The leather feels really nice, the ride is good, but certainly not better than in a Cayenne with air suspension. What put me off though was the navi system going black-screen on a trip of 12 km and the removal of so many buttons including the seat heater in favor of touch screen operation. If one decides to do that, do not use a slow system. Bought a G-class instead. Less comfortable, less economical but all the physical buttons i want and equal iconism. Navi hasn´t let me down yet, either. Maybe the next RR generation...

    Everyone be WARNED!
    This car is a gamble.
    There is many parts on the car (probably chinese) that where cheaply purchased by land rover and have manufacturing defaults.
    The car will be on watchdog soon.
    It should have been recalled and land rover know all about it and why. If you have missed or been late for a service they will not pay more then 50% if your lucky, of the cost of a new engine (£28000). Unless you take up a law suit with them, they will try to get out of it.
    Ive had 2x v8 diesel autobiography and 2x new engines. My freind had a new engine in his, My solicitor is making a career from land rover and another freind who works in land rover service, has seen many of these range rovers with this this insact problem.
    In the sump is a sensor that controls all the oil level reading/oil pressure light/oil top up litre light on the dash and it also may have something to do with your due sevice alert on dash as that didn't work either.
    This sensor is oviosly ment to be sealed. But the oil it is ment to read gets inside it and oviosly makes it all fail. If you get a oil leak or even go over a service GOOD LUCK you will need super powers X ray vision!
    3000miles over your service, they will try and get out of it. Even if you was late on a service 10 services prior to the incident, even years before the incident. They will try to say that this is the reason for the faulty sensor what fills up with the oil that it is ment to be reading. And until you get a solicitor they will try to throb you off and only honer you 50% of a £28000 engine.

    This isn't quite true my friend.
    I was watching an episode of Motorway Cops the other day and an 11 plate Range Rover Evoque had an electrical problem which didn't release the electronic handbrake. It was stuck in lane 3 of a contraflow with traffic hurtling past. I learnt later this had resulted in a nationwide recall.
    My point is, Jaguar/LandRover still have a long way to go before they are anywhere as near as reliable as their German/Japanese rivals.

    • @carbuyer
      @carbuyer  9 років тому +4

      +MrJackass1237 It does, but it's not easy. Large cars are always more difficult to drive in the UK (and the rest of Europe) than they are in places like the USA, because roads are narrower and parking spaces are smaller. But driver assistance tech like parking sensors and reversing cameras can make it a bit less stressful!

    Uh... the Honda Civic, Jazz and CR-V are all made in Swindon, Wiltshire... England. So are few Nissan's, some Toyota's, BMW's and Vauxhalls. Jaguar/Land Rover Manufacturing are actually now run by people that used to run Honda UK Manufacturing so I wouldn't worry about LR reliability too much these days (though I still wouldn't expect German/Japanese levels).

    I'm curious why the Range Rover Sport offers that much seating but this version doesn't.

    Comments about reliability and LR/RR are largely out of date with the new models. But anyone can get a rogue. My mate's X5 has been in the shop so often he calls it a BMTroubleu whilst our D4and Freelander2 haven't given us any problems
