  • Here is a quick look at the Reiff Knives F4 Bushcraft Survival Knife. I took it out and made a fire, cooked some food, and messed around. The F4 is a the whole package - made in the U.S.A., sturdy as can be, and great at a variety of woodsy tasks.

    Hey hello I'm a new subscriber today. Just to begin.. I' buy expensive knives. But I found a brand of knives that is much less money then high end knives yet they perform like several hundred dollars worth. I've never experienced anything like em. They blew me away after I saw a video on Gideons tactical reviewing these knives and i decided to buy two of them. Their super affordable yet semi custom. Made in Spain and done so well. Their called Joker knives. Nothing cuts like them. Check out the Joker Nomad and the Joker bushcrafter. Hands down the best knives I've ever used. And I own knives 450 dollars worth. I just keep going back to my jokers 110% of the time. Performance is unbeatable. Soooooooo slicey!!!!!!! Nothing slices like them. Their amazing!!!! Be well love the channel and Bushcraft away!!!

      @CaptainAiryca  Рік тому

      I'll have to check them out. Thank you!! I've heard of the brand before but never used one.

    Nicely done Erica! Sweet review. Soup looks delicious as well! Good seeing you out in your happy place! I picked up a Reiff F4 last October to use in my bushcraft workshops here in my temperate rain forest. I'm really liking it so fa, I really like the beefier 5/32 blade over some of the 1/8 options because here in these mountains where it gets wet and chilly but seldom frigid, I don't like packing an axe, I prefer to just carry a robust belt knife for the heavier work and travel lighter since so much of the travel here can be pretty vertical..

    • @CaptainAiryca
      @CaptainAiryca  Рік тому

      Oh nice!! Yes, a robust knife is all I need a lot of the time too, I have fun with the axe but it's often just that, for fun! Haha! Anyway I'm glad you're enjoying the F4. I've been using my bk62 almost exclusively this year since I was just borrowing the F4 😊. Nice to hear from you!!

    Awesome 👌! Great to see you again 😀 i didn't get notified of your latest video and today while searching around my list i saw you had produced a new review . Yay !
    Nice comprehensive look at the knife 🔪 you always have good informative descriptions and reviews 👍. I still am using my Bark River Kephart CPM3V 5inch knife and i am enamored with it . It hasn't left my side since I bought it and I've used it so much that you'd think it would be plumb worn to a frazzle 😆🤣 but so far i have only sharpened it once since buying it. Each time i use it i clean it well and then strop it with green compound. It remains razor sharp and so far still looks new no stains or patina .which I think is a bit 🤔strange, by now it should have developed at least a slight patina . I have not abused it but I've definitely been putting it in daily use. Food prep ,cutting boxes and strapping at work,making fires and feather sticks even carved several try sticks along with your videos. I tell you what ,I can think of no other ways to share my appreciation for helping me in picking out this knife than to tell you thank you 😊. It's not cheap but it sure is a one and done as you said. Bless you and your family. Patiently waiting for your next video 📹🙂 .
    Your biggest fan .

    The blade is a little short for batoning, yet you did a good job. 3v has very good toughness, which is the primary quality that I look for in a woods steel. While the charts show it low for corrosion resistance, I have never had any issue with 3v showing corrosion. The knife did a real good job with feather sticking, food prep, and handle looks like a good fit. Good job.

    Thanks for the review. The knife seems to work, but from seeing you struggle with wood cutting, I suspect it needs sharpening.
    The knife doesn't look very fancy or flashy, more like an understatement (good!), its a bog standard bushcraft knife, built from premium materials ... but it is very expensive!
    This is a knife I would have to try out first, before buying!
    Thanks for showing your approach to 'soup', made me hungry 😁

    • @CaptainAiryca
      @CaptainAiryca  2 роки тому

      I see what you are saying. I figured that since it was my first time out with the blade, I was still getting used to it, and I chose a ridiculously dense piece of wood to work with. (Usually I use fir which is real soft). Anyway, I think a quick strop and some more practice and you'd see me more proficient at cutting, although it was totally functional, but maybe didn't bite as deep or easy. I hope that it's clear enough in the video that it's my first time using the knife. I think that each blade deserves a proper amount of time to get to know it to truly be proficient with it.
      And I hope you have a chance to get out and eat some soup in the woods too! :D

      @@CaptainAiryca Your review is excellent! As always you point out aspects I would have missed. I just noticed you struggled with wood cutting and immediately assumed the knife needs sharpening (mine always do)... but that might very well be due to hard wood, you'd know better than I!

    Very good Video 👍. In my opinion the blade is too thick. And I do not like convex bevels so much. A convex bevel does not carve or cut well. I will never understand the concept of a convex bevel. A good blade does not need a convex bevel for stability

    • @CaptainAiryca
      @CaptainAiryca  Рік тому +1

      The thickness contributes to the durability, but I can see why people would think it's too thick. I do not have strong opinions on the grind but convex is nice to strop and on some blades I've found I enjoy how slicey they are. But I think to each their own for sure! That's part of the fun of trying out different knives imo :D

    Good or bad they are overpriced cpm 3v it's a strong steel yes but it's not expensive steel, in Toronto cost over $500 the 4" one and over $600 the big one nothing special about the material of the knife and very small company no name yet.
