      Not that a big deal I think. What Julian's tests tend to show is most interfaces will do the job well nowadays. The ones who have to be affraid of it is those who claim to be magically better (UAD hello ^^). He will probably show they're just as good as most others.

    Hey Julian.
    You are really the best! The authority on audio interface tests on youtube.
    I would sooo appreciate if you could do your highest quality reviews on higher quality audio interfaces.
    I would love to see a comparison between UA Apollo, RME Babyface, Arturia Audiofuse Rev 2.0, Metric Halo mobile I/O.
    And could you integrate messurements for how many ms data transfer latencies those interfaces have. That is really the only things I sometimes miss in your otherwise hardcore in depth tests (which are great).
    I heard for instance that the RME drivers are exceptionally good and have low latencys. And that for both MAC and PC. Yet I have no resource place I could validate that information or someone who hands on compared it.

    Julian, I figure that you'll be the right person to ask this question; So, I've been having an issue with crackling/popping going on in my headphones when connected through my Audio Interface; I know it's not a latency issue because this PC is really BEEFY lol. As for the headphones/interface, I can confirm, that the headphones are not the problem; if I plug them into the PC, they work just fine. And, I can confirm, it's not the interface. I've had this issue with a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 (first gen) and I just got an M-Audio 192|4. I've tried disabling my wifi card, everything I can find online and nothing works; I'm wondering if you might have any solutions, or if you've ran into this issue before.

    • @johnbuscher
      @johnbuscher 2 роки тому +1

      I guess he could, but I think the general consensus from other outlets is that the Xenyx-based preamps are notably far worse than the newer Midas based ones, so it’s generally not as useful when there are better options available for not much more money.

    • @agrigor1
      @agrigor1 2 роки тому

      @@johnbuscher General consensus is "what people say" and testing and comparing with numbers is the true picture. That's why I believe it would be good to see such tests (many people prefer mixers for their reasons). Julian has already tested so many audio interfaces, so that we may not base our choices on what people say but on real measurements.

    Interested in your take on the new Clarett+. They claim improved AD and DA as well as improved headphone response. I know you were high on the previous Clarett you reviewed, except for the headphone's somewhat weak response.
    I just picked up the Sterling M224 interface for $99.99 new to use as a secondary, portable interface. Other reviewers have liked it. • @JulianKrause
      @JulianKrause  3 роки тому +5

      Good catch, in the "use your gain" video it's all about getting the best signal-to-noise ratio. On some interfaces (including the MiniFuse) higher gain settings can lead to a slightly worse frequency response. But I still stand by the claim to "use your gain"", because setting a proper recording level is more important than very slight variations in frequency response. And not all interfaces show this freqency response behaviour, so prioritizing a correct gain setting simply makes sense.

    A couple of weeks ago I recommended you to a colleague who is in the market for a new interface. I advised him to watch your videos. "You speak German right?"I asked him. Later on when I watched one of your videos I found out you speak English in your videos. I am getting old. (But I cannot recommend you enough to others.)

    Off the specs alone this is an even better value than the MOTU. (though the motu is still much better). That being said I value HP out importance higher than all else.

      I don't see how how off the specs alone this is "even better value" than the M2/M4? Please enlighten me.

      @@felicityfeline728 headphone out that can drive headphones like 560s (Best value open back on the market atm IMO) even louder than the motu and its nearly half the price. Not to mention all around better performance than other models in its price point like the scarlett solo, ur22c, and, umc202. This is a fantastic addition to the market.

    • @felicityfeline728

      @@TheSilent006 not true, Julian has shown that the Motu is the best when it comes to headphones power in its category. ua-cam.com/video/xLShpyzwvJs/v-deo.html And the Motu still has slightly better features (yes, for almost twice the price, but the LED display looks better and the macOs compatibility is flawless, whereas in my experience Arturia products are cheaper). Also, I use the 250 ohm 880 Pro, not the 560s.

    • @TheSilent006
      @TheSilent006 3 роки тому

      @@felicityfeline728 How so? It has nearly double the power of the motu at 150 ohm and the THD will be inaudible with any headphones above 32 ohm. If anything its actually better in many peoples situations where the motu might not provide enough power such as parametric eq through peacegui/EAPO. The noise floor is still low enough for even KZ iems. I already said in my first comment that the MOTU is a better interface. VALUE is different as it concerns the price. I guarantee any tradeoffs you are making arent worth the extra 80 dollars to many people. Think about who the actual target market is for 100 dollar interfaces. As a matter of fact. Name a better interface for driving headphones at this price, while also having relatively solid ad converters.

    Strange you didnt mentioned NI Komplete 6 MKII. Seems like biggest minifuse competitor, especially to minifuse 4. Has same features, but one plus for Native Instruments is, that it has input meters for all inputs, which are not unfortunately present on any minifuse. Also seems like in noise is Native Instruments better. The only drawback for NI is software, Arturia software is much better. Unfortunately I ddidnt find any direct comparsion review NI Komplete 6 MKII vs Minifuse 4. Anybody here who tested both?

    Hi Julian, I watched a few of your interfaces reviews and I have a question. Usually the interfaces INPUTS are labeled for use with either a microphone OR a guitar. I'd like to know how this works for keyboard players? Using the MIC input to record a synthesizer, for example?
    And should I use a TRS or regular 1/4" jack? I also use the interface for virtual instruments and soft synths (Kontakt, Spitfire, Omnisphere, Zebra, etc). Thanks!
    (I have an Audient i14MKII at home, but I'm looking for something for live gigs so I don't have to disconnect the interface every time).

    Julian good morning and pleasure. I would kindly need some advice regarding sound cards. Which would you buy between: 1) Arturia mini fuse 1
    2) Audient Evo 4
    3) Behringer 204hd
    4) M-Audio Air 192/6
    I make podcasts and I would like a card among these that best suits my needs. A thousand thanks! 🙏

    Thanks for the great reviews!
    Unfortunately, I don't really understand the measurement of latency.
    In this Video the MiniFuse is said to have a bit more latency than other audio interfaces in this price range. Then I watched other videos of yours to compare.
    There, for example, a latency of 7.7 ms is specified for the current Focusrite Scarlett at 48 - 64, for the Motu M2 9.1 ms, but only 6.6 ms for the Minifuse (which is better, isn't it?).
    Are there any objective comparison options for the latency?
    How do I find out which audio interface has the best latency, that's extremely important to me? Is there a current comparison table somewhere?
