Hello again Tom. I had an email exchange with Lectron's customer service. They confirmed that the Vortex adapter they sell online and the version sold to GM are not the same.
@@hughpearce4276 I've got one of the first generation A2Z adapter. Do you know if I need to do anything to get the replacement? Or do they send it automatically?
@ I bought both. Aside from initial tolerances being too tight, the original worked fine. Unlike the competition, they’ve been transparent and very responsive to customer engagement. They deserve to be approved and recognized by the OEMs.
Tired of waiting for the tesla adapter from Ford I got the lectron adapter and it works great. I used it twice and had no issues. One week later I received the ford adapter. The lectron quality feels better than the one ford sent me.
Thanks for breaking this news. This is what a true legacy automaker does. They care about their customers. I think it's great that they want to ease their customers from waiting on their free adapters. I will say, imo, that there will be many people would be upset because the preference of the Tesla adapter simply because it's a first-party adapter and overall esthetic. I think everyone should be grateful to even get a free adapter. Luckily, I finally got mine back in September
Agree 100%. It's free and Ford is making the effort to get reliable adapters to you. I got mine in June but the Ford email says they are shipping a replacement. In the meantime, I have been using the A2Z adapter from April and 100% reliable on the Tesla network.
"This is what a true legacy automaker does". Didn't they sell people a car that couldn't take a road trip without enormous hassle in the first place? Weren't they dishonest when they said, hey we got a huge charging network for you to access and you can go anywhere easily? That's more like the true legacy automaker experience don't ya think.
@ultrastoat3298 they learn from their mistakes. But they always correct them as they can. And yes, im also talking about the Ford Pinto with the gas tank behind the rear bumper issue
Still waiting on my NACS adapter. Ford pushed from Oct to Nov. Meanwhile, I used my Lectron on my last road-trip to WV. It pulled 170kW on Super Charger to my 23 Lightning ER. I purchased Lectron with SOC discount code (-$29.99)
Thanks Tom, you’re always on top on the EV news. My Ford adapter order # is in the 26,000 range so I knew it would be forever before I would see it. I bought the A2Z in the spring and have used it when road tripping. It works well and has made finding a charger less of an issue than ever.

This is good news. I ordered mine on 14 march from ford. My order number is in the 69000 range. They are delivering orders in the 26000 range here at the first of november, 8 months later. I bought the A2Z and it works fine. I hope A2Z can get in on these supply contracts like Lectron. I have been very happy with A2Z to the point where I bought the Pro model when it came out.
FYI - the part number of the adapter NOT to use is 1434343-00-D. There could be other part numbers, but this is what Ford told me. I had to call because we have two Mach e’s and two adapters.
My Polestar just got supercharger access but they're not giving me a free adapter. They want $230 dollars and don't even know when it will ship. So I just ordered Lectron for 170 with your discount code!
Long story short....if you have yet to receive an adapter from your manufacturer (now GM, Ford, Rivian, Volvo, or Polestar), go buy either the Lectron or A2Z Pro adapter (and only one of those). I would definitely steer clear of the off brand adapters you see everywhere

@@fjalics All Ford, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar, and most newer Chevy EVs can use the Tesla Supercharger-V3 stations with a NACS to CCS-1 adapter, or a Tesla Magic-Dock equipped Supercharger station. Unfortunately for you, when the other MFGs announced that they would be switching to NACS, Tesla stopped selling the their CCS-1 to Tesla adapter.
It is exactly the same for me as well, living here in Ottawa, Canada. I placed my order the first day they opened up registration in February. To be honest, I anticipated this mess and bought an A to Z adaptor in the spring, so I had an adaptor for the summer driving season. I have had zero issues with it except, of course, trying to get close enough to the charger to plug in (not the adaptor's fault) Now I'm just waiting for the DC extension cable to come on the market
I ordered both the Lectron and an adapter from Rivian (even tho I dont own one of their vehicles) last week and they both shipped around the same time. Good options both to have for our EVs. We wanted to be ready when Kia is on the network (hopefully if they stick to their promise and dont push past the Jan 15 date) as we have a road trip the following week. We road trip 5+ times a year and although we manage just fine with CCS, having the Tesla network, especially in Florida, as an option will make our trips and planning so much easier.
I just received my EV6 and was hoping it had been shipped after September 4th, as Kia announced all vehicles shipped after that date would have an adapter included. Alas, no NACS adapter, but it did come with the V2L plug.

I ordered my adapter on April 20th and had it pushed back twice already, but my new estimated ship date is November. However im kinda torn on the Lectron adapter, this is the same adapter that when they released it had the tolerances to lose that caused issues, then they redid it and actually made the tolerances to tight which caused them to get stuck on the Supercharger, there was even a post in the Mach E sub where a user got it stuck and could not remove it and actually had to right a note, the following day a Rivian owner saw it and had the same thing happen to him before and knew using a C-Clamp to apply downward force on the lock and then you could pull it off. It was enough of a problem that users even stated they carried a C-Clamp in their Mach E in case theirs got stuck. After all the stories people in both the forums and the sub reddit were directly recommending the A2Z adapter. Has all these issues been fixed with the Lectron adapter?
Tom, I am so impressed by the quality of your high value information and how quickly you get it out to us. Very much appreciated. I’m waiting for the Tesla model Y refresh in 2025 and comparing that to the 2025 Mustang Machi premium. Would love to see a video on that specific comparison. Happy Halloween.🎃👻💀
I was one of the individuals that was told to stop using the charge adaptor I had gotten from Ford. I ended up purchasing a A2Z adaptor because I wanted a backup for the holidays since I will be traveling. I hope Ford gives the green light to fully allow A2Z to be used without worrying about issues. I haven't heard anything about getting a replacement adaptor yet since the initial email.
And a nice little hack when ordering from A2Z along with the discount code if you are in the US they don’t charge any tax! And for some states that’s a decent amount. They also offer free shipping. I’ve had mine now for a few months and have traveled from LA to Michigan and the A2Z adapter was great! I found that the SC for the most part were cheaper to “fill up” from than EA and less busy. I do have the membership with EA and Tesla for context. But the SC still seemed to come in cheaper most of the time.
I’m glad you mentioned using the app to find the correct supercharger because as you noted not all NACS plugs like V2 and urban chargers are compatible. On the other hand, there’s not a single (PLC) J3400 plug that will charge an old (CAN) Tesla like NACS (V4, V3, V2 & Urban) can. 14:22
Another great video!! I ordered an A2Z Typhoon back in June after seeing my Tesla adapter will ship on Septober 32nd. Used it successfully on a road trip in July. Good to know the Lectron will be shipped.
Thanks for the update! Reserved mine within the first few hours of the reservations opening and still waiting on mine...so I hope this kicks things into gear and I get it soon!
I’m a Chevy BlazerEV owner, I ordered my adapter on the day it was offered through Chevy and had it 2 days later. I might have had to pay for it, but no waiting.
When I looked on the Chevy Accessories page, it says the adapter "fit" my 2023 Bolt EUV, but not the Blazer. The Blazer could draw more than 500 amps, which is the rating on the adapter.
I ordered my free adapter from Ford in June 2024. It is December 2024 and still waiting. The estimated ship date just got pushed out again to January 2025. This is very good news to hear that Ford is getting a second supplier.
This is why I took your advice and bought the Lectron after your review video. Nice work! Not waiting for the OEMs' adapter was on point..... Chevy Blazer EV charging at superchargers is nice
Purchased a lectron NACS adapter and it was at my door step after ~3 business days. Charged our 2018 Chevy bolt at the Tesla station through the Tesla app. Everything worked great. The cable is shorter than I anticipated, so we had to get really really close.
I ordered mine in March, still waiting. I bought the A2z based on your review and couldn’t be happier with it. I would like to get the adapter that Ford promised me, though.
My Ford account shows November 2024 as shipping status for mine. I ordered my free adapter through Ford shortly after purchasing my Platty Lightning in July this year. Great info as always. 👊👊👍👍
Ty Tom. Got adapters from Ford for my 2 lightning 2 weeks ago. waiting on my rivian adapted. still. Got me some A2Z ccs-1 to nacs coming today from A2Z, the typhoon pro CT .
First I tried to order through my local Chev dealer, but no luck. I ordered one from Lectron, thanks for your coupon code, and got it in a few days. Today I'm driving 25 miles to the nearest version 3 SC to try it out. Glad l got it before the rush, with Ford and GM approving it!
From a Rivian owner, I now have the official NACS adapter and the gen1 A2Z one. I may still keep using the A2Z adapter due to the issues with the official NACS one. I just like the A2Z one. I’d like the gen2 A2Z but for the trips we are making, it’s all well.
Good for Ford! It's unwise to depend upon Tesla. Personally, I would have opted for the A27 Typhoon Pro, but… the Lectron Vortex will work just fine! I would imagine that Volvo and Polestar will now do the same (having just been given Supercharger authorization). I sure hope Hyundai/Kia/Genesis get the green light soon.
Mine was a bad batch. 6 months with A2Z and never had a failure. Built like a rock too - unlike the Ford adapter I got in June that was light and hollow. No wonder it was being CSP replacement. Good to hear the replacement adapter is being sent out. Wondering if I will get a Lectron or Tesla/Ford.
Hi Tom. Not sure if you covered this for GM adapters. Originally back in June they showed up for Chevrolet/GM owners for $25. Those of us that placed that order got them canceled after a week or two. GM will honor that price if you had originally ordered it for $25. I placed an order today and they are in stock. I'm sure you have access to that info but let me know if you need it.
I didn’t comment on your first “recall” video (LOL) but yup, early reservationist and still don’t have one. Kinda feels like my Lightning reservation. Reserved day two of opening May 20(?) 2021. Due t get my truck until April 6, 2024
Its almost like Tesla should have got both the Lectron and A2Z for testing and certification for use on their network months ago. 🤔 I have the Lectron adapter, it's not so much for using the Tesla network, but future proofing for when J3400 becomes more prevalent.
i got my tesla brand adaptor for hummer ev through GM app. ordered a week ago and got it within 3 days of order. $225 with free shipping direct from GM.
I already purchased the A2Z Typhoon Pro adapter, and it works very well. I'm still waiting on my free Ford adapter to hopefully arrive sometime in 2024/2025/2026/2027/202......
I'm impacted by the "not recall". I would like it to be replaced with the Tesla adapter. I prefer the form factor and had already purchased a case specific for that adapter.
I hope the Lectron ones have improved, I got one early and when it got hot it was pretty much impossible to remove from the super charger, using the official one in comparison to the Lectron one I have is night and day (google around, lots of people with this issue)
Still waiting for the adapter for my wife’s Mach E. We have been waiting since February. Of course my wife isn’t a squeaky wheel so I suspect her lack of complaints to Ford have let her order slip. Her car, her issue. I ordered mine from A2Z for future use on my Ioniq 5 and am able to move ahead as soon as Hyundai comes online.
I'm in the boat of somebody who placed an order on February 29th and still don't have it. I'm glad Ford is doing something about it. Has the issue with the Lectron adapter getting stuck on the J3400 plug been fixed?
I have done business with Lectron, and I have really not been happy with their customer service. I would order an adapter and not get it for two or three months and that was not made clear at the time of ordering. Hopefully they’ll do better at this juncture. I can’t complain about my Lectron products themselves.
Lectron is not a very reputable company. They continue to sell portable EVSEs is that arent safety certified and couldn't be because they violate safety standards.
Thanks Tom, I ordered my adapters Feb 2024 order # in the FAE:90009900. Called Ford a few weeks ago and was told not one adapter has made it a customer in Canada yet! Held up at boarder customs. I was told, no idea when Canada would see any adapters.
I have a Cadillac Lyriq and was able to get the Tesla supplied adaptor within a couple of weeks after GM opened up the network. I had to pay for it, but it was readily available. Ford owners got it for free, but many have been waiting for many months. Do you think that GM got preferential treatment from Tesla, or paid a premium for their supply?
No free adapters for Hyundai/Kia/Genesis purchases prior to Sept. 2024; cars purchased after that date will supposedly get "free" adapters. Of course, the adapters will be useless until Tesla flips the switch to allow cars access to the chargers. The H/K/G group said "early 2025" for access; nothing more specific than that.
Not sure how I feel lol I ordered a lectron because I knew I would be waiting awhile now I will possibly have 2 lectrons. I don’t want to be greedy lol
This whole NACS adapter effort by Ford, Rivian and GM has been a cluster. How they messed up this bad is beyond me. Take GM for example. Many people ordered on the first day. GM somehow "lost" those orders amid them changing the part number. People who ordered weeks after Day 1 were getting the adapter within days, while us Day one saw "Backorderd" on our status. People figured out they could cancel that order and just re-order it. In what retail world does that make sense??
They’re sending you an adapter for free, and you’re bitching because it’s been delayed for reasons beyond Ford’s control. This same sentiment fills the forums. People are awful.
@@derkarmaczar Where did I say Ford is sending me an adapter for free? Answer: I did not. Don't even own a Ford. What my point is, no one (Ford, Rivian, GM and Tesla) were not prepared for the NACS transition.
Ho hum...still waiting on my adapter. Took a trip last weekend and just used EVGo and EA with CCS, and it went okay. Not enough chargers really, and I did run into one down-rated charger that would only charge at 40 kw (was labeled as a 150). But I don't feel great about Tesla superchargers either though, because of the double parking spot problem. I was hoping that Tesla would use it's large Supercharger team to really roll out V4 superchargers for general purpose EV charging (those solve charging port location problems), while keeping some of the old chargers exclusive to Tesla, but then Elon fired the entire supercharger team and nothing seems to be happening, so I expect stagnation in EV charging for another few years. I also thought Tesla and NACS would take over, but I feel like there is backpedaling now with Elon acting all crazy, a disbanded supercharger team, slow adapter rollout, etc. I'm not convinced Ford will go NACS anymore.
I placed my order early on Feb 29th, 2024. I was in the 12,000 range for order numbers. I got my adapter about 3 weeks ago. honestly, what has Tesla done right in the last 5 years?
That happened to me too: the box had a label with the GM part number for the Tesla one and identifying it as a replacement for GM's part number for the Lectron one. It's for a bolt, so charging at low current, so either should be fine for me.
I just received the NACS adapter yesterday for my Chevrolet Bolt EUV. I ordered it from GM via my local dealer. With apologies to Ford owners, it's the official Tesla adapter. This in spite of the order showing a drawing of the Lectron 🤷♂️
Tesla still gets paid by charging use, they would want other manufacturers to have access, we all know Tesla has always had an issue meeting deadlines.

I'm glad to see Lectron is is being used with Ford now, ordered my Adaptor back in May it's now saying Nov for delevery.
Thanks for the update! Reserved mine within the first few hours of the reservations opening and still waiting on mine...so I hope this kicks things into gear and I get it soon!
Thanks for the update. It is good you stay informed on the latest news that affects the EV industry.
This just solidified Lectron as a real EV accessory manufacturer!
I’m a Chevy BlazerEV owner, I ordered my adapter on the day it was offered through Chevy and had it 2 days later. I might have had to pay for it, but no waiting.
Same with me. GM sent me a FedEx tracking number less than 45 minutes after I ordered mine. Came in 2 days.
Thank you
Thanks for the video Tom. Ordered March 1st. Still waiting - hope this speeds things up.
Almost to 100K!
I just ordered my adapter from Lecton using your discount code. Thanks!
👊👊👍👍
I'm using A to Z, works fantastic, thanks for discount code!
You really expected to get anywhere going through a dealer? Really?
Yep! Not May or April. My order was March 1. Ford got me my 2021 Mach-E faster than the adapter (order window now says November)! 😮
From a Rivian owner, I now have the official NACS adapter and the gen1 A2Z one. I may still keep using the A2Z adapter due to the issues with the official NACS one. I just like the A2Z one. I’d like the gen2 A2Z but for the trips we are making, it’s all well.
C'mon Rivian. Give OK to use of Lectron and A2Z adapters!
Great news! I already got my Lectron adapter for my non-Tesla vehicle unfortunately it’s not authorized yet, hopefully soon :-)!
Put in my reservation with Ford in March. They are now showing it to be delivered in November. It is November 1st, so we will see.
Am happy with my Lectron.
Just ordered a A2Z since my EV9 will have access in Jan. So might as well put my order in now.
Hope this helps get some adapters to Canada! Love your content!
I just received my A2z. It took about a week. Im on the adapter recall list. I hope I get the Ford Lectron replacement. That would be awesome.
Just got mine today!😊
Thanks for the info. Good to know.
Mine delivered yesterday! It will stay in the box because I’ve used my A2Z about 20 times with no issues
What was your order number please?
I hope the Lectron ones have improved, I got one early and when it got hot it was pretty much impossible to remove from the super charger, using the official one in comparison to the Lectron one I have is night and day (google around, lots of people with this issue)
The CCS port isn't tested or endorsed by Tesla either and it's involved in the connection. Like you said they are all safe.
That A2Z adapter looks different from mine.
Yes absolutely, I would imagine so as the one shown is the newest improved A2Z adapter.
We will see.
Hi. FYI I watch your channel all the time… quick question have you heard anything on Hyundai allowing the use of the nacs plug?
3:17 "don't worry I'm getting somewhere with this story". Don't worry Tom, we appreciate your stories even when they're a little verbose.
J3400 to CCS. NACS is a Tesla term Tesla came up over a decade after they had their own Tesla charger design. Which was called a Tesla charger.
try them on the chademo to ccs adapter
I placed my order early on Feb 29th, 2024. I was in the 12,000 range for order numbers. I got my adapter about 3 weeks ago. honestly, what has Tesla done right in the last 5 years?
Tom, there are people on the chevy bolt forum that stated they ordered the “GM” branded Lectron adapter but instead received the TESLA made adapter.
That happened to me too: the box had a label with the GM part number for the Tesla one and identifying it as a replacement for GM's part number for the Lectron one. It's for a bolt, so charging at low current, so either should be fine for me.
Polestar announced they have an adapter now
I just received the NACS adapter yesterday for my Chevrolet Bolt EUV. I ordered it from GM via my local dealer. With apologies to Ford owners, it's the official Tesla adapter. This in spite of the order showing a drawing of the Lectron 🤷♂️
Still don’t have mine!!! Been since April. 😢
I thank you for all of the info but one thing you never talk about is the Ford Pass App working with the Lectron Vortex adapter?
I've had no issues activating the superchargers with either the FordPass app, or the Tesla app, using a Vortex.
"Tesla can't make these adapters fast enough" or is it "Tesla DOES NOT WANT to make these adapters fast enough".
Tesla still gets paid by charging use, they would want other manufacturers to have access, we all know Tesla has always had an issue meeting deadlines.
If Tesla didn't want other vehicles to charge on their network then why did they open it up?
@@ruly999 Federal Money from NEVI
I had to pay GM for the adapter, but I received it yesterday.
I got my GM/tesla made adapter today, i like my A2Z on better
