    As a d2 college corner, it can be hard at times to directly aim a hit when tackling a receiver who just made a catch... That was a clean hit. He wasn't spearing, he was leading with his shoulder but their helmets were in the wrong places at the right time...so he got his ass laid out...Although he blew the shit out of his boy's chest...lol

    I don't think the differences between the SEC and others are that large.
    If any two conferences run college football it is the Pac 10 and the Big 10. We'd currently have a playoff if it weren't for these two prom queens.

    Thing is. You did lead with his shoulder. But the receiver went down and well..made it happen the way it did.

  • @zikxer
    @zikxer 13 років тому

    I'm gonna be completely honest... at least in my humble opinion, it isn't really clear what hits 1st, the shoulder or the helmet. The hit itself happens too fast and the camera isn't able to give a clear image of the moment. Not only that but, what we can call, the clearest image, is at an angle which won't leave clear what happened.

    1. offensive/defensive liens are different, its impossible to not helmet to helmet all game.
    2. who did the pac 10 play in bowl games? no one decent. only decent team that they played was PSU, but it was a home game for USC.
    The Big Ten always has one of the hardest bowl schedules every year.

    @timotomtime1 1. how does wrapping up after a defender has burried his helmet in someones ear hole cause a lot less injury? Head injury only seems to plague the game at a higher level today because 15 to 100 years ago it was just called getting your bell rung. 2. You think a chop block which can happen accidently during the course of a play is worse and more dangerous than twisting an ankle under a pile? What are you talking about? You could break a persons ankle without a lot of pressure.

    USC has a blanket offer to play any SEC team for 7 years? This is almost as hard to believe as the idea that USC is being victimized by the Rose Bowl.
    USC has a great program, but they need to stop fighting playoffs and they need to stop playing home games instead of real bowls.

  • @samoantoa08

    No; The only reason why the Natl. Champs are there is because the analysts and bowl prmoters are biased towards SEC yearly..For example, Florida got picked to go to Natl Champs even tho...USC, Texas, Utah, and Boise State had same or better records..PAC 10 has good teams too..

    Why? What can't you so that? Because it's a huge hit? Thats fucking bullshit!! This is football. These players know what they are in for when they go across the middle. You better be ready to get hit. But since it's too hard of a hit no helmet to helmet on that play btw. It's allowed anymore and that is wack. I miss when the nfl and college let you hit as hard as you could without being worried about a fine or ejection. Today's football is weak and it gets softer every year. Like I said before this players know what the deal is when they put that helmet on.

    I think you misunderstand the rule here. A receiver is defensless as long as he hasn't established control over his body. Just because he has caught the ball doesn't mean he isn't defenseless anymore. You never see him turn his head or his hips so he has no idea what is coming, thus making him defenseless for this kind of a hit.

  • @izach120

I don't know many people on this planet that would have walked away from that hit unscathed. Now, I don't think May's helmet created the contact; I'm pretty sure it was his shoulder so clean play. But, the receiver was slowing down to catch the ball; Mays was going full speed. That amount of helmet contact coupled with the velocity...I don't blame him for being shaken.

    @jackhandy00 what do u think the issue with that is? u think thats flag football? try playing fball at the pro level, or maybe the collage level because it seems like your acting like a blood thirsty fan who couldnt care less about the health of pro football athletes. Football can be just as brutal but without those intentional hits that injure the most important part of the body.

  • @timotomtime1
    @timotomtime1 13 років тому

    @jackhandy00 read some ex nfl storys and ull understand what im talking about, anyway, i was talkin bout an intentional chop blck. when you wrap up, you dont use your head and hit the otherguys head as much. Idc what you think, its a fact because the force is spread out, second as you wrap, in order to wrap you got to go to the waist line, not the head. Regardless, the NFL needs to educate, fines suck but fball will b fine in the end wen hits like these are gone. u should agree wit the last bit

  • @timotomtime1
    @timotomtime1 13 років тому

    @jackhandy00 you are correct about some things, yes the game was dirtier back then with LT but guys back then tackled by wrapping up, regardless of if their head was lowered, they wrapped up and cause alot less head injurys that plague todays game. u go to hurt somone people want to cause pain like getting punched in the balls or twisting someones ankle under the pile, try to read some old nfl books and ull realize what im talking about ex: chop block = injurying under the pile stuff = hurting

  • @jackhandy00
    @jackhandy00 13 років тому

    @timotomtime1 I have hit and been hit very similar to this(not as big or fast). You say its ok to hurt someone but not injure. Do you realize how small the difference can be between hurt(ok) and injure(not ok). These rules are splitting hairs that did not get split for 100years of football. And now we are just suppose to except it? You are just flat wrong about NFL hits in LTs era..they used helmets, forearms, and whatever else got the job done(like it should be)its all 100% part of the game

  • @timotomtime1
    @timotomtime1 13 років тому

    @jackhandy00 and i guess your fine with the fact players are dying or suffering mental injuries everyday because of past concussions... you know troy aikman still gets terrible migranes from all of the hits he took? i guess ur also not in favor of protecting the ex nfl and collage players from life long injuries.and you seem to think its part of the game? football is great because its football, and football was great with the LT era as well. AND GUESS WHAT?THEY DIDNT LOWER THIER HEADS ON TACKLES

  • @jackhandy00
    @jackhandy00 13 років тому

    @timotomtime1 easily avoided? both of these guys run 4.4's. Its football, shit happens in a split second. I will never acknowledge the new personal foul rules that have gone into effect in the last decade(for this reason I watch much less football). The only illegal tackle is by the facemask period. Defenseless player... did he put on a helmet and step on the field. ITS FOOTBALL YOUR SUPPOSE TO TRY AND HURT SOMEONE. You think you like football but you dont, you like flag football.

  • @EternalWolf86
    @EternalWolf86 13 років тому

    You cant hit with your shoulder on a defensless WR like that. Its a fine and possible suspension. Mays sucks, was never any good. Possibly the worst tackler and pass defender in the league, has no ball skills either. For every big hit he made in college he wiffed 3 times. How often do you see a big hit by just one player in one game? Maybe once if he is good, so he might be able to make one good play every game and absolutely suck for the rest of the game. He didnt make any plays last year.

That's about 40 points below real "universities" like Stanford, Notre Dame, and Boston College and on a par with state school factories like Oklahoma, Tennessee and Alabama. Some might say that allowing athletes to load up on basket weaving classes or skip class altogether is cheating.

    that was not malicious. first off taylor mays has always tried to play as clean as possible. and second when you're traveling as fast as he does at times, you could lead w/ a FOOT and your helmet might still touch the guy. sometimes it's unavoidable. but the penalty suggests he led w/ his helmet which wasn't the case. taylor mays rocks, the other guy just took the hit like a bitch, and the refs needed a way to keep mays in line...

    we will see who goes 1st in the draft then. Berry has played MANY a position in College and was the nations top cornerback recruit even though he was his high school's quarterback. he IS the best all-around athlete in College football. And GOD forbid he doesn't get injured and stays healthy, he WILL go in the top 5. I predict 1st, but thats just me. Feel free to come back here after the draft in April to tell me how right I was...

    and THIS is the guy they compare to Eric Berry?? Berry doesn't take dirty shots and get personal fouls for them. He doesn't need to. As far as class goes Berry = 1 Mays = -1. And regarding talent? Check Berry's stats. He's got that one covered already. BOOO Taylor Mays!!
    And seriously. I can't see why ANYONE would even think Mays is a better athlete than Eric Berry. Laughable.

    Oregon, Oregon State and Cal are not comparable to USC. Just look at recruiting... can you name another conference where 1 team regularly gets more top 100 recruits than the rest of the conference combined?
    Regarding Vandy, they ended the year with a higher Sagarin rating than half of the Pac 10. In fairness, this was the best Vandy team in 26 years.
    Last year's Tennessee team was the worst in 31 years, but they still were better than 4 Pac 10 teams.

    Samoan -
    Your posts seem to be full of contradictions. You praise the Pac 10 because their 2nd best team beat #4 in the Big 12 South. But the SEC is over-rated after beating the #1 team in the Big 12 and in the country.
    Seems to be circular logic to say Oklahoma was over-rated because they only scored 14 points on Florida and that Florida didn't deserve the national championship because Oklahoma was overrated.
    Your conference's position on playoffs has become an national embarassment.

    No it wasnt easy...But this is what I believe...The Big 12 was the most overrated conference this season followed by the SEC...The most underrated was the Pac-10..The only reason why Big 12 teams posted big numbers because of the games against themselves..Big 12 got no D watsoever...Almost all their out of conference games were easy..Just look at how their best Offense did against a good not "great" Florida defense...

    In my view, you guys have nothing to brag about either...because the only game you guys can brag about is beating Texas Tech...But then again all of the big 12 teams were the most overrated..all those offensive number theyve stacked were against themselves (big 12)..Big 12 has weak defenses..Thats the only reason why Oklahoma got so many points..Florida just beat an overrated team barely who got beat by a team who struggles against ohio state...USC in turn demolished Ohio state...

    We can agree that Oklahoma State was the 4th best team in the Big 12 South.
    You say the Big 10 and ACC are "easy", so bowl wins against them should be discounted.
    Do you discount USC's win at home against Penn St?
    Do you discount Cal's win at home against Miami?
    And if the Big 10 and the ACC are so easy, you must think the MWC and the Big East are even less worthy.
    I don't share your view, but this leaves the Pac 10 with only one bowl to brag about: Pac 10 #2 beating Big 12 South's #4.

    Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany and Pac Ten Commissioner Tom Hansen both staunchly oppose a playoffs.
    We wouldnt have been able to assert the positions weve asserted over time if there werent a lot of support from a lot of our constituents, Delany said.
    -----
    USC should own up to its big role in rigging it so they play the Big Ten at home in a "bowl" game most years. USC has had some great teams, but it has a huge asterisk because only 1 national championship is away from home.

    "you're so stupid... the rose bowl has a contract that USC wants out of and the big 10 wants out of... the Rose bowl is opposing playoffs... not USC themselves"
    The "Rose Bowl made us do it" argument that was used in the late 90s. And then the two-faced hypocrites turned around and renewed the contract in 2001.
    The PAC10 commissioner recently admitted that the PAC10 just doesn't want to play multiple post season games. You can't blame this on the Rose Bowl.

  • @sandymex
    @sandymex 15 років тому

    The Pac10 and Big10 pushed for the 12-team rule you now blame. But why do the Pac10 and Big10 really fight playoffs?
    OSU President Gee: People might say the Big10, the Pac10 and the Rose Bowl are being greedy its not about money, its about preserving history.
    Pac10 Comish Tom Hansen: A playoff knocks the Pac10 and Big10 out of automatically playing each other in the Rose Bowl, and we oppose that. Even more fundamentally, we dont want our teams playing two postseason games.

    As to #3. NCAA Rules do not allow the Pac-10 to play a conference championship game because they only have 10 teams. You must have 12+ teams to play a conference championship. This is not something USC is opposed to. They have no choice in the matter. But they do play all 9 other teams in the conference. The Pac-10 has the most equitable schedule because they play a Full Round Robin.

    You're forgetting about whenever Penn State ABSOLUTELY ANNIHILATED Oregon State 45-14 only 4 points more than Coastal Carolina an FCS team. Now that is a blowout not 38-24 while actually trying the entire game with you first string and going for it on 4th down. Compared to when PSU who put its 2nd string in. If every game combo could be played (110 games) I would say it would be 60-50 in favor of the Big Ten
