  • On Saturday, April 12, 2008, the Corps of Engineers opened the floodgates at Bull Shoals. There are several things I found interesting, but I didn't want to speak on the video since nature was speaking for itself. On my way to the site, I passed a gentleman who commented that it sounded just like Niagra Falls. When I replied that I had never been, he told me that he had and that it sounded just like this. As the video pans toward the dam you eventually see a small white pipe coming off the bank to the right. The walkway extends to that pipe, if that gives you an idea of how much the river has risen. This is the first time in the history of the White River dam system that Table Rock, Beaver, Bull Shoals and Norfork dams have all opened floodgates. On top of that, it was sleeting (in APRIL) while I was taking pictures. (And today it is 60 and sunny!)
