The player base is dwindling because that's par for the course for fighting games in general. You have to learn a character and then learn how to play against other people and their characters. Ever since this guy released it has felt like Capcom deliberately designed him around the idea of him jailing opponents with Block Stun. Most interactions with him are just waiting for your turn and then when you finally get your turn, you still have to guess a 50/50 on whether or not he'll do a normal grab. If he does, you finally reset to neutral. If he doesn't, you eat a full combo and the harassment starts all over. As a Grapple main who normally hates rushdown, I don't even necessarily hate the way Rashid handles the concept, it just gets really tiresome sitting there and WAITING for Rashid to finish whatever he is doing. Every match where I don't hyper aggressively dumpster him just feels like a waiting game.
dont forget that he has extremely fast screen long punishing tools the still leave him out of punish range, a double jump to mess with anti airs and everything he throws our is plus on block.
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind his level 2 as much if the rest of the cast had levels 2s as interesting. It’s overpowered as hell don’t get me wrong, but damn most of the casts level 2s are so boring that it’s almost sad in comparison.
They should replace Rashid's level 2 and level 3 with each other. Lower Altair's damage just a bit, leave Ysaar the same, but costing 3 super bars instead of 2. Now the character is less unfair.
Eh, having a big cinematic super cost two bars feels wonky. I’d just leave his level 3 the same and make tornado cost three bars as well. There’s already a precedent for having two level 3s with Akuma
Halve the distance it goes but keep the duration, so it makes it twice as slow. Only make it trigger proximity block when you're right up on it. Slower mean Rashid has to commit more to start it in your face if he wants to trigger free mix. Less proximity block means defender can still play footsies with Rashid but Rashid still has a big advantage. If this is too heavy handed (its not), then adding strengths to how hard Rashid can kick the tornado would be a good middle ground with none of the options being thunderclap speed like how it is now. With that change, it can open up matchup specific interactions like specific super art on reaction to tornado kick to punish, gives defending player more time to walk up block it out/parry because Rashid now has to start it closer to get the messed up stuff going. Rashid can still do the messed up stuff with all these changes, but can't do it from full screen unless he kicks it and only getting 1 mix. This makes it more dangerous cornered, but imo it just speeds of the process so both players can go back to playing the game. This also gives the developers more breathing room so they don't have to do system wide changes to bring it line. Tell me what you guys think
What might annoy me the most is how I can't even lab against rashid, cause I don't own him. Replay takeover only goes so far, when all of these nuances "exist". It would just be labbing vs 1-2 specific mixups, and not the dozens in his arsenal from level 2. Also my proposed level 2 change, is increasing the recovery by a lot. I'm thinking like decapre U1 in sf4. That way instead of needing to actually back off when he pops it, you could approach to not just be cornered. It should 100% go away if he gets hit too, so he can't just do enhanced mixer 2x or worse, and destroy your drive gauge. I believe we need a universal option like that to deal with it for starters, so you can just drive reversal if he attempts that. It still isn't great from a drive perspective, but at least you can play the game again. While I believe strong stuff can, and will exist in games, this is not the right kind imo.
It didn't look like there was a way to properly 100% enforce the burnout in both situations for that nightmare round example. There were points of no return, but Shakz had some chances to not just eat it.
I've recently watched a Daigo video where he talked about the balance patch and said something along the lines of "they nerfed everything people have been complaining about". Now mind you I don't watch much japanese fgc content, but that made me think, I dont think I've seen a single complaint about Rashid level 2, on any of the japanese stuff that I watch. But I did see complaints about the stuff that was nerfed. So judging from that, forget nerfs to that super unless the japanese players start complaining.
Yeah faster tornado is best idea I heard can't take it being good away completely but expediting the process so he has to make a read and run with it while it's active or make it travel only so far forcing him to use it closer to the person or have it just stop and fizzle out halfway optimally he would use it up on top of you mix and score some big damage or he could throw it out as a last ditch effort to wall off opponents to wait out burnout or something while throwing projectiles from behind or whatever but maybe I'm missing something in that thought. It'd be a expensive wall I know but burnout often results in death so idk lol
The tornado should account for him walking through it. The logic would be that wind slows down when anything impedes its flow by standing, slowly moving through the wind. This can be achieved by making It lose active time every for every number of frames Rashid is moving through it under normal means. Any special move though it should not take time away. This will make it so the Rashid player will have to A: wait for the tornado to move a head a bit if he wants maximum Tornado Time AND it creates distance between the opponent OR B: The Rashid player moves ahaed of it and makes the tornado be a slowly approaching threat. But It also since you want to attack still while its on you, so long the Rashid Player is throwing out attacks of any kind, the active frames will not deplete and allow you to still maximize a combo as normal IF your timing is correct and you don't stop attacking. But Using the tornado as a cover while approaching the opponent, can only be viable if rashid is not in the tornado itself.
we're just coming to accept rashid is one of those ones, like akuma, like cammy, just a design the team would rather keep stronger than the rest of the cast, over the whole lifecycle of SF5 he was maintained at a super viable meta tournament pick. Never had any glaring issues competing, nerfs if any were always minimal, and he's just looking to do the same for the whole of 6. Feels like capcom saying "if you don't like rashid you don't like street fighter brother"
i feel like a big part of what makes rashid’s lvl 2 strong is also his main kit. his main kit without level 2 is already really strong. things like getting drive damaging strings right after level 2 ends while having or gaining the corner from the super makes the pressure very intense. maybe they could nerf rashid’s level 2 by nerfing some areas of his main kit instead of nerfing only level 2? level 2 could still balance out his interactions while leaving his main kit still able to keep up with the cast but not overpowered or too intense. all up to capcom tho.
These sorts of defenses are so disingenuous. "Rashid is not top one. Therefore, this clearly overtuned super is okay". Horrible logic. The move is still degenerate.@Aefax
Fighting games are about interaction. If you cut down the amount of time, the tornado is on the screen, I feel like that would help. It sucks to just sit there and watch it it toward you while Rashid does whatever he wants.
Sometimes I feel like Capcom shot themselves in the foot by restricting what sort of move the various levels of super can be. Having the design space to make any level of super the utility/gimmick super could have helped with stuff like this.
As an A.K.I player, I have a bit of protection against the tornado. She can OD slide through it to escape the corner, forcing Rashid to kick the tornado at her. It risks a punish counter throw, but getting the hell out of there is usually worth the risk. Also, if he tries to activate it in neutral A.K.I. can immediately use her own SA2, most of the talons will clash with the tornado, negating it entirely, and the remainder will actually go through and hit Rashid. It does reduced damage since the tornado blocks a bunch of the shots, but it means if you have the meter, Rashid can't really activate without getting a knockdown.
I say leave it exactly as is. A matter of fact buff everybody! Lol i am an onlooker, I don't play video games but I love watching tournaments. It's very entertaining from the consumer of content perspective 😂😂❤
I think when lv2 is out rashid should get a new throw that just chucks the enemy to the tornado where he can follow up combo for 60% so we can all just die faster and save some time
If you're ever at a party or other public gathering where more than a few people can hear you complain about how busted Rashid is, BigBird will materialize out of thin air to downplay him. This is how I got a picture with him and had him autograph a postcard with a tornado on it. Nice guy.
Tornado disappears on hit. So now instead of eagle spike or airdash which you "could" stuff, every rashid is just gonna walk you into the corner, every single time.
Just.. Makes the tornado end sooner if Rashid gets hit or blocks an attack. This way if Rashid commits too much, this becomes at least a level 1 super utility-wise instead of level 2.
How does the clips channel get higher qualtiy content than the main channel? Most FGC channels just bait you with an interesting video and its just a gameplay video instead
Rashid's lvl 2 was obviously the fly in the ointment for what was otherwise a pretty solid Capcom balance patch. I think it's a given it'll get nerfed next patch... but I thought that last patch so who knows
People were certain it was a given it would have gotten nerfed many balance patches ago including the May and December patches. And he was barely touched despite being an obvious problem since release. I am almost certain he's just never going to get touched for the entire life of the game like Ken
People don’t understand that Ken has no plus moves on any of his normals. Dragonlash is horrible and jinrai is his only good thing he has. He needs corner carry cuz he can’t do much if he can’t take you there 😅😂.
Instal or whatever you call this (TYPE OF PROJECTILE) MOVE feels like V trigger all over again they should make all the moves mini cinematic like all level ones
Oh, the weather outside is arid, Rashid broke Streets without merit I'd like to see Ysaar go, But it won't but it won't but it won't The wind moves on and ain't stoppin', No matter how I try blockin' It really should be nerfed though, But it won't but it won't but it won't

@@AlgaeEater09 how do you feel about Vega or El Fuerte. in which areas is Rashid not SF where other acrobatic characters are? i dont actually care to read your reasons im just wondering at what point someone flipping about and flinging projectiles turns into "anime"
@@jackd6881 lol ur just making shit up no fuckin way yall are this mad
At the start of the intro, is there a giant bug on his wall on the left side? He's probably here to also show disdain of Rashid's Lv. 2 lol
Honestly, I wouldn’t mind his level 2 as much if the rest of the cast had levels 2s as interesting.
It’s overpowered as hell don’t get me wrong, but damn most of the casts level 2s are so boring that it’s almost sad in comparison.
Rashid has the most boring level 2 in the game, literally becomes a single player game everytime he uses it, slow the game down to a crawl.
Some level 2's are pretty cool - Juri FS Engine, Ed Desyncs, JP setups, Blanka balls into chan, DJ rhythm and Guile boom loops.
Bro what?
walk into the tornado and parry it scrub
They should replace Rashid's level 2 and level 3 with each other. Lower Altair's damage just a bit, leave Ysaar the same, but costing 3 super bars instead of 2.
Now the character is less unfair.
Eh, having a big cinematic super cost two bars feels wonky. I’d just leave his level 3 the same and make tornado cost three bars as well. There’s already a precedent for having two level 3s with Akuma
@@lilacrain3283 Sounds fair to me, but then he will need a new level 2.
Interesting...but i can't stop.seeing that spider on the wall next to the guitar 😂
Tornado should be jumpable as well. It's too tall.
It's starting to get really weird how Rashid is just seemingly immune to getting nerfed after 1 1/2 years. Definitely not weird at all or anything...
He also spinned topped around nerfs in sfV as well
DEI.
Big bird is such a twitter fiend 😂
I've recently watched a Daigo video where he talked about the balance patch and said something along the lines of "they nerfed everything people have been complaining about".
Now mind you I don't watch much japanese fgc content, but that made me think, I dont think I've seen a single complaint about Rashid level 2, on any of the japanese stuff that I watch. But I did see complaints about the stuff that was nerfed.
So judging from that, forget nerfs to that super unless the japanese players start complaining.
interesting how the region with the best players by far is also the region that doesn't find rashid to be that big of a deal. makes you think
@@Aefax Its almost like they know if they don't say shit defending the character, Capcom doesn't put a bullseye on their character's back.
i relate to the "i'm numb to it" part at the end there.
I liked Broski's idea on nerfing it by speeding up the tornado
5:48 I like the idea that the tornado should move faster ... it's an elegant solution 🌪⏩
"Yall wanna talk about Kim?"
This kid cant walk and chew gum at the same time?
I mean, why does it allow you to build super meter while ok screen?
Same for Ed‘s SA2
Okay Brian_F Clips, I see you
we're just coming to accept rashid is one of those ones, like akuma, like cammy, just a design the team would rather keep stronger than the rest of the cast, over the whole lifecycle of SF5 he was maintained at a super viable meta tournament pick.
I swear there are definitely people out there that say big bird's name like Timmy turners dad says dinkleberd, while shaking their fist in the air.😂
I mean he downplays Rashid when he desperately needs a nerf. So no wonder
@@ADreamingTraveler who else would you say desperately needs a nerf
or is it just rashid? cause rashid isn't top 1
These sorts of defenses are so disingenuous. "Rashid is not top one. Therefore, this clearly overtuned super is okay". Horrible logic. The move is still degenerate.@Aefax
I’ve always wondered what is the perfect defense against the tornado?
my man rashid turned himself into an anime character
Me, Brian_F Clips: "Good morning Brian_F!"
Fighting games are about interaction. If you cut down the amount of time, the tornado is on the screen, I feel like that would help. It sucks to just sit there and watch it it toward you while Rashid does whatever he wants.
A chess equivalent is hitting a button on the table that lets you stack your rooks no matter the position.
Sometimes I feel like Capcom shot themselves in the foot by restricting what sort of move the various levels of super can be. Having the design space to make any level of super the utility/gimmick super could have helped with stuff like this.
what about jumping into the tornado to just take the hits and remove the mixup potential? Gold strats
13:12 "you never had the round to begin with" xD
As an A.K.I player, I have a bit of protection against the tornado. She can OD slide through it to escape the corner, forcing Rashid to kick the tornado at her. It risks a punish counter throw, but getting the hell out of there is usually worth the risk. Also, if he tries to activate it in neutral A.K.I. can immediately use her own SA2, most of the talons will clash with the tornado, negating it entirely, and the remainder will actually go through and hit Rashid. It does reduced damage since the tornado blocks a bunch of the shots, but it means if you have the meter, Rashid can't really activate without getting a knockdown.
switch around level 2 and level 3. Also this should apply to JP. If you have a whole minigame as your super, it should be level 3
Tornado should go away when Rashid got hit, but not at once, just fading out so it would can hit a couple or times after or something.
Huge spider on your wall back there
I say leave it exactly as is. A matter of fact buff everybody! Lol i am an onlooker, I don't play video games but I love watching tournaments. It's very entertaining from the consumer of content perspective 😂😂❤
Is that a huge spider on the wall? 😯😯
I think when lv2 is out rashid should get a new throw that just chucks the enemy to the tornado where he can follow up combo for 60% so we can all just die faster and save some time
Big Bird (cool dude) tried saying the Chun match up is evev because she has EX hazanshu...smh..no lol.
If you're ever at a party or other public gathering where more than a few people can hear you complain about how busted Rashid is, BigBird will materialize out of thin air to downplay him.
This is how I got a picture with him and had him autograph a postcard with a tornado on it. Nice guy.
I wonder if giving the Tornado health might mitigate the massive advantage he gets
They complain more about bison tho when this monster exist
bison is 10x more degenerate than rashid be fucking real
Tornado disappears on hit.
So now instead of eagle spike or airdash which you "could" stuff, every rashid is just gonna walk you into the corner, every single time.
Oh so it’s canon that Brian_F just confuses channels when uploading those hour long videos?
There has never been a channel mixup... yet
Rashid is Gotenks if the devs treated him like Gogeta Blue and Vegito.
11:03 There I am Gary, there I am!
The Tornado should fade away if you hit Rashid, easy. Same the ghost do. Easy.
Just.. Makes the tornado end sooner if Rashid gets hit or blocks an attack. This way if Rashid commits too much, this becomes at least a level 1 super utility-wise instead of level 2.
Brian f clips bros were so back
Me, a caveman who enjoys sailor moon: parrying multi hit specials should be ex special cancelable
How does the clips channel get higher qualtiy content than the main channel? Most FGC channels just bait you with an interesting video and its just a gameplay video instead
can you make a video of the noah drama?
You can also jump almost full screen to punish his fireballs if not ex.
@@aqua1994 even on a video about rashid downplay the ken downplayers come out to play

I have plenty of room for big birds 'to be fair', but when it leans on the Rashid making a mistake, that's not a question of balance lol.
Oh, the weather outside is arid,
Rashid broke Streets without merit
I'd like to see Ysaar go,
But it won't but it won't but it won't

I think the fact Rashid is a dlc character plays a part in why he still has the level 2. But idk if I've seen a move this crazy/ignorant in a while
"tornado chucker" sounds like some kind of new racial slur
Honestly, I feel that Jhony Takeuchi was being carried by Rashid in that match, he was losing almost every interaction, what made the difference was the lvl 2, without it, that match would have being a wash.
