After a few tries, I got the hang of it with decent results. Since I don't have paint and only a few bottles of nail Polish, I made a few beads using colored tissue paper. Took a little more work but results pleased me. Thank you for all your talent.
I have ordered beads and made jewelry for several years. Now I would like to try and make my own paper beads. Your instructions make it seem so easy. Thank you for answering my question, as you can see I didn't watch the entire video the first time. Thank you
...I have tried to make these 3 times, I wound up with a soggy mess that took FOREVER to dry,(after trying to form them into some kind of SHAPE )...but, I am experimenting, it IS a learning process. I just really appreciate your creativity...you are my main inspiration !...I also dig the no frills, straightforward, instructions...with no annoying background music, or endless patter... thank you, much!
I love this idea! I will give it a try soon. My grandmother was a watercolorist and art teacher and she always had neat little crafts for us to do like this. This video brought back some nice memories. Thank you!
i have been searching for many ways to make dolls with a variety of materials, this is an amazing and affordable way to make them, thanks for the idea and i LOVE your crafting!!
For the flat beads, begin with a round bead, then flatten by pinching between your thumb and finger, then pat the outside edges even with the other hand. For the long beads, I did them the same way as the round ones, but just put more pressure to shape them long.

You should make the hole BEFORE they dry, right after making them, it's easier and they can be painted as they are being made instead of after to save time. I use different color sharpies and color the paper prior to making the bead and the water makes the color swirly as in a tie dye effect.
over the last couple or so years I have made tons of beads of yours of every size and shape , and now I am going to share a lot of them with one of my grand daughters in a chest I am making for her for x-mas this year . she is going to love them and I am sure she will post pictures of them on a necklace for grandma to see :) I want to thank you so much for showing us all how to make such lovely jewelry beads and necklaces.
This is awesome and so easy to do! I saw another tutorial that was more complicated with too many steps and using a blender and it said to use a drill to make the holes. Not everybody has or knows how to use a drill! I will definitely go with yours instead. Thanks so much!
+michael jackson (michaeljacksonsoul) Yes, you are right about the drill, I often use a drill, but I know everyone does not have one, so I try to give alternative methods to that in my videos. Thanks for watching!!
I have been watching many of your videos and ... lady... you totally amaze me with your creativity... the way you make awesome jewelry from simple supplies is awesome! You are the most creative person on UA-cam!
I like this very much! I have crocheted for nearly forty years but have always wanted to learn to make jewelry that was unique at affordable price I will watch other videos for this to see how to string and attach to form necklaces
well, i want to try many styles of dolls, i have a doll made out of plastic grocery bags and clear tape, about 11 inches, and she has removable parts. but i wanted to try many other techniques, the doll style i am going for is barbie size, and japanese style dolls. i am mainly looking to make dolls out of recyclable or handy materials, that's why i have become a big fan of yours, i love your work!!
OK I really LOVE this idea!! Just a few questions: can't you stick a skewer into the bead before it hardens? and if it gets out of shape, can't you roll it around on the skewer? Also, looks like you'd used soft tissue - can you get away w/a single ply where it's cheaper to use?
Yes, you can use white glue... even full strength as a sealant! Oh... you would never believe some of the things I have made with bathroom tissue!! It's a miracle craft supply... won't break like clay beads!
Ingenious as usual. I would NEVER think of using toilet paper to make jewellery. Can I substitute regular white school glue mixed in water for the mod podge?
To make these beads with newspaper or magazine, you would have to tear up the paper into tiny pieces, and soak them then drain them after they become mushy. Some magazine paper contains clay, (usually it is shiny), and probably would take far too long to break down to a mushy consistency. But it could work, even though it would require more patience. Bathroom tissue works great because it is so soft and maleable.
+Vanessa de Andrade They take quite a while, but you can put them on a sunny window sill, or in the oven at 200 degrees... they should dry in the oven in 1/2 hour.
Lovely....how long does it take to dry. I am having a three hour art class. This is great. I'm already using the empty roll to make flowers and wall art.

So many ideas to choose from, but I'll start with these! Thank you for sharing your great and easy tutorials.
You should make the hole BEFORE they dry, right after making them, it's easier and they can be painted as they are being made instead of after to save time.
I use different color sharpies and color the paper prior to making the bead and the water makes the color swirly as in a tie dye effect.
Your bracelets are so pretty, I especially like the blue one. Thanks for posting, I'm definitely going to try to make one like that.

really good. i want to ask one thing, we can prepare the beads today, and we've to put it after 2 or 3 days in oven.
I like the hardness of this type of paper bead. That's cool :-)
I like this very much! I have crocheted for nearly forty years but have always wanted to learn to make jewelry that was unique at affordable price I will watch other videos for this to see how to string and attach to form necklaces

Oh, I'm pretty sure that it will be showing up again... it's a wonderful resource for crafting!!
That's such a cool technique! I wonder what would happen if you used the colored glue or glitter glue? I'm going to have to try this.

Ideia maravilhosa, parabéns.
It takes a while, maybe days, unless you place them in a warm oven (200 degrees F.) for 20 minutes or so.
Yay!!!! Glad to hear that you find value in the video!! Emi
what a great way to make beads, and they are hard as rocks!!!!!!!
Ingenious as usual. I would NEVER think of using toilet paper to make jewellery. Can I substitute regular white school glue mixed in water for the mod podge?
Hi Emi, can I use a metallic spray paint? Also can it be any mod podge you use to finish it?
No, you can put them into the oven right away, immediately after making them. But just a warm oven, not hot.
It's so fascinating to watch you work!
Hi Emi how did you make the long beads and the saucer beads?
So great! Thank you for sharing.
ماشاء الله تبارك الله عليكي.جزاكي الله خيرا

That would be interesting, it's worth a try!!

+pamela Hall Thanks for commenting Pamela!
Yes!!!! This would be a great resource for making dolls Danray! What kind of dolls do you make? Or want to make?
Muito bom 👍
Will it be okay if I put the skewer through before drying so the holes would be premade? This is so awesome!
So cool great job
How long does it take for the to completely harden?
You could polish them with clear fingernail polish then roll them in glitter!! Will the pokish harm them?
you are so creative!!!! xxx
Thanks!!
Oh SandiRose... you are funny!!!

+Vanessa Garcia Thanks for commenting Vanessa!

Hi Emi, would I use this same process to make a bead out of a magazine and newspaper?

Hi Emi. I'm your fan. I need some help. How many time the paper bolls dry more less? Thank you very much.
+Vanessa de Andrade They take quite a while, but you can put them on a sunny window sill, or in the oven at 200 degrees... they should dry in the oven in 1/2 hour.
Thank you Emi
thats really cool
Sure, mod podge will work as well.
Lovely....how long does it take to dry. I am having a three hour art class. This is great. I'm already using the empty roll to make flowers and wall art.
WOW I SAW THIS SEVEN MOTHS AGO ,
Absolutely... and if they aren't perfectly round... just call them nuggets!!! Emi

Thanks Prot!
Hi Emi, u r amazing! My 9yr old and I are loving ur videos. I commented on another video asking where you got ur wire from I need a good price and quantity on spools :) if possible. We r new at this so we r kids in a candy store.
You can purchase wire at the home improvement center, or sometimes even at the dollar store.
very nice..i love it
Thanks for the idea. It really helps
I am giving those a try! Will keep you posted of the result :-)
I tried this but it didnt get hard like yours the next day would im using mod podge glue would that work?
Mod Podge may not dry as hard as ordinary white glue. You could try baking it in a 200 degree oven for 1/2 hour or so.
No, it won't burn, 200 degrees is only warm, not really Hot!
