When I was a kid I'd always color myself and my family with the brown marker because I didn't really care about perfect accuracy, I just wanted it to be a human color of some sort, which raised a lot of eyebrows in my blindingly caucasian household.

I'm only just now realizing how questionable it was for my school to teach us to refer to "Peach" as "Skin color."
Peach, beige, apricot, almond, manilla, they're all slightly different, but they're all light pale oranges and yellows, artistically speaking.

Oh yeah, super specific reason for that. This happened at Toronto Fan Expo 2014. Joel Watson, Rob DenBleyker and I were selling sketches and we kept drawing our friend Derek Miller, who had just shaved his head.

"Hey, pass me that skin color marker?" Said John. Secretly, John Johnson the 3rd was testing Mike Salcedo's character. Would he become mad? Would he resort to murder? Would he think nothing of it? John wondered. John knew today was the moment to test his friendship, as he had been friends with Mike for 3 years without going to his house to play smash brothers and between them neither had told an offensive joke to break the ice between them. Mike tossed John a brown marker and looked over at John with a look that seemed quite mad, and John, accustomed to hiding his emotions, knew what was coming next. "I guess we might not be friends after all." John thought sadly. But his fears were unfounded. "Excuse me, I need to shit, bro." yelped Mike. Mike got up and backflipped to the toilet down the hall, and John, while impressed by the surprising and out of nowhere athletic display, was rather relieved. "I do have a friend, finally" John thought. "Mike is my friend.". And so truly began John's friendship with Mike, who was currently fighting for his life in the restroom, primally screaming at the sheer amount of shit he had to shat. Jesus Christ he could smell it from down the hall. No more tacos for Mike.

That's a very outdated ordeal. There are loads of different skin tones, not just one. [My favorite is deep ebony, this is for the ladies ;)]
