The women's welterweight boxing event at the 2020 Summer Olympics occurred at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan. The competition featured 18 boxers representing 18 nations. Turkey's reigning welterweight World Champion, Busenaz Sürmeneli, secured the gold medal by defeating China's Hong Gu in the final match.
This event marked the debut of the women's welterweight category in Olympic boxing. The previous tournaments in 2012 and 2016 transitioned directly from lightweight to middleweight, making welterweight (64-69 kg) a new addition.
