Wink, thank you so so much for sharing this rare pilot. We really appreciate everything you do. ❤️
This particular pilot’s interesting to say the least. It’s nice to hear Charlie O’Donnell announcing (hopefully we can see more pilots with him announcing) and I really like the host, Jeremy Beadle. The game’s got a nice bit of humor, although the set could be a bit of an eyesore. Pretty sure NBC’s schedule was packed at the time, maybe that was the reason it didn’t sell. But a really nice pilot. ❤️

It looks very elaborate for a pilot set, almost as if it already had a couple seasons under it's belt.
The 1982 version of "21"'s set was very stark and simple by comparison.

Wow, Beadle hosted a pilot in the US? He was a TV veteran in the UK, where he devised, produced and wrote shows down the years, he was also the original presenter of the Barry/Enright show Chain Letters (A Mark Maxwell Smith show a relative of mine was involved with at Tyne Tees TV), and the UK version of Win Ben Stein's Money. I'm assuming he had something to do with the format of this show as he'd be a bit of an unusual choice as a straight emcee - this does have a whiff of the kind of stuff he'd come up with - as can be seen here he was good with contestants and was an absolute master of the wind-up as well.

Michael Hill, whose Little Joey, Inc. produced this show, also produced the successful hidden-camera prank show "Game for a Laugh" for ITV, which Jeremy Beadle developed and co-hosted. I suppose this was an attempt to bring a bit of that format to the United States.
Success always seemed to elude Hill in the USA, whether by himself or with frequent collaborator Bob Eubanks.

@@gatorman295 You're right. Michael Hill and Bob Eubanks ("The Newlywed Game") produced game shows such as "The Guinness Game", "All-Star Secrets" which Bob Eubanks hosted for NBC, and the "You Bet Your Life" revival. They also produced "The Toni Tennille Show".

Never in a million years I thought I'd hear Charlie O'Donnell say the name Jeremy Beadle, and vice versa. As for the show itself, this was a throwback even by the standards of 1985. This format is something that would have fit right in on the TV of the 50s, but not daytime network TV of the 80s. Now, if it was sold to syndication, it very well could have sold. I could definately see independent stations picking this up, though I doubt it would have lasted more than one season.

I love the theme song to this game show pilot. I'm thinking NBC passed on the "Family Follies" game show pilot for "Your Numbers Up" in the 10:00 AM time slot. This probably could have worked in the 4:00 PM afternoon time slot. But the problem there is that many network television stations aired syndicated TV shows such as talk shows, court shows, syndicated TV reruns of on and off network shows, cartoons, and other game shows. "Family Follies" could have worked as a syndicated TV game show. But another problem there. The syndicated TV market was filled with other syndicated TV game shows such as "The Nighttime Price Is Right", "The Joker's Wild", "Jeopardy!", "The New Newlywed Game", "The $100,000 Pyramid", "Tic Tac Dough", "Wheel Of Fortune", the new version of "Break The Bank" in 1985.

Jeremy Beadle would have been the natural choice to host this as he was well-known on UK TV as a practical joker having hosted 'Game For A Laugh' from 1981 until 1985, and hosting 'Beadle's About' (a Candic Camera-type show) from 1986 until 1996.
He also hosted Chain Letters, Born Lucky, Win Beadle's Money and Definition here in the UK, and was a writer and consultant on loads more.
An extremely knowledgable man, he was also a tireless fundraiser for charities in the UK, particularly Leukamia, raising close to £100million.
In a cruel twist of fate he contracted the disease in 2005 and despite being clear of it, and kidney cancer a year earlier, his health had weakened considerably and contracted pneumonia in 2008 and died from it at the age of just 59.

This seems like a mix between _People’s Court_ and _Truth or Consequences._ On acid.
Also, Jeremy Beadle. It is like a giant warning. The last time a British hosted an American Game Show it did end after a few months in production. _(Bruce Forsyth’s Hot Streak)_ This one was “lucky:” he didn’t go beyond pilot. Also, Beadle hosted the British adaptation of the legendary _Win Ben Stein’s Money:_ ua-cam.com/video/LkPotE7X84A/v-deo.html

I hope he was a better host in the UK because he was dreadful here. I almost turned it off after about five minutes but soldiered through.
