- After a nasty shot of winter weather the temperatures moderated enough to melt the snow off our flying field. This allowed me to get out and fly the new E-flite Turbo Timber SWS 2.0m. It flies every bit as good as any Timber I’ve flown but bigger, smoother and much more impressive. I’m looking forward to see what else E-flite has in store for us in the Sport Wood Series.
Note - if you hear the throttle pulsing a little it’s not the fault of the Turbo Timber. Unfortunately getting old sucks and my thumbs twitch a little and the cold temps (it was 35F when I was flying) made them twitch a little more.

@@michaelclinerc3211 Mike. Working on it now. Hey. Just FYI. If you got the BNF so to speak. If you not already done it. I recommend you take a look at the servo pockets for both Flap and Aileron servos. I had an Aileron servo broke loose on one wing. I had to glue it back and also added some pan head screws for insurance. I could’ve complained about it but I went ahead and fixed it. Mostly because I got a lot invested in HH and have had acceptional service with them. Most their products i bought have been great right out of the box. 👍😊

Does this Eflite model need replacement of any parts to assure reliable performance when pushing it hard over hopefully a couple of years ??😆
The BNF comes with top shelf Spektrum components. I expect many years of dependable service from the electronics.
Could you perhaps give me a short comparison between this and the Timber x? Specially, is it easier to land?
Obviously the TT SWS 2.0m is a much bigger plane and has a bigger presence in the air. While flying aerobatics it retains energy better for tumbles. It does land a little better than the Timber X but all Timbers can be a little challenging to land smoothly. I have found they actually land best without flaps as the flaps tend to block the elevator when flaring to land resulting in that last second drop just before touchdown. But this kind of defeats the STOL purpose as the airspeed is a little greater landing without flaps.

All settings are stock except that I increased the rudder and elevator throw a little to help with the tumbling.

Outstanding flying as always! Loved the rolling loop! Looks like she does have enough grunt to pull straight up out of a hover, even near the end of the pack - nice! And wow, what a wide flight-envelope! Walking-speed to nearly tripe-digit speeds, SuperSTOL to 3D! I know I need one of these, but I'll have to sell at least a couple other planes to make room for it. The question is...which ones do I sell?

Are you actually getting 8 minutes of flight time om each battery?
Yes, using a 6s 5000 and some throttle management 8 minutes is possible. I was rarely above 3/4 throttle on that flight. The pack had 3.74v per cell after that flight.
Some people bsay just another timber but looks more aerobatic its the wood that makes it good. You got sckills. I was going to buy th evolution fomie before this came out but now may have to save some money 🤑

It is, in my experience, the best flying Timber yet. Yes it is a little pricey but you get a lot for your money.
