First of All thanks a lot for all our videos, you are great teacher...fortunate to came across this gigantic world of internet. It is in deed my pleasure to learn painting...water colour painting....pleasure....
Love your humour Louise! It really makes me chuckle! But far more than that, I really appreciate the way that you share your expertise, Thanks so much for sharing with all your followers.
This was exactly the topic I have needed to learn, without realising it beforehand. I find myself becoming intimidated by the detail, not knowing where to stop, so not actually beginning though feeling overwhelmed by it all. My greatest thanks for making this video Louise, I have actually broken through the resistance barrier for having seen it and started painting again. My kindest regards to you.
Breath Takingly Beautiful - Your painting of Birds is as beautiful as their Songs - Bless You Sweet Soul xx (bloopers at the end of video brightened my day & the little birdie on the window ledge)
What a beautiful bird! I love birds…all animals really and they are my favorite subject to paint verses florals or scenery. This is a lovely subject and I’m so impressed with your technique. I’m so glad I joined your Patreon. 🤗👍👍🎨
WOW! I think I'm in love. With a painting of a bird. That is one of the most beautiful bird paintings I have ever seen and you can believe me when I say that I have seen a lot of bird paintings. One of my favorite subjects. Way to go Louise! You knocked this out of the park!
Beautiful gala bird Louise! I may have to paint this on your Patreon channel. I highly recommend your subscribers to consider taking out a membership at ~$9.00 a month. It is an amazing deal for your quality instructions to beautiful paintings! Thank you for all the time you put into your tutorials…. It is to appreciated..
Yay it’s Friday! Sit back with a cuppa and enjoy Louise and a good giggle. Love just watching your paint and water and brush control. It’s like meditation. Beautiful bird. Wish we had some parrots and cockatoos here as normal residents. There is a flock of green parrots that appear now and then here in the area, ( Houston)but we think they are escapees and I never seem to have my camera...
Thanks Alison. I know it's not easy to get photos of birds. I have a huge lens that I use. I've always got my camera on it's monopod with the big lens attached ready to grab whenever I see birds in the garden. Sometimes I'll sit out on my hanging chair and wait for them. We have forest all around so it's usually just a matter of time before they show up. I hope you had a lovely weekend.
@@LouiseDeMasi my camera is in the kitchen, with good zoom capabilties, but not always attached to the tripod. I keep thinking monopod might have been a better way to go. Our kitchen and living room look out onto the backyard and the feeders so wild kingdom city style can happen frequently. We have Coopers and sharp shinned hawks that zoom through looking for lunch all the time..I must learn to appreciate the blue of the jays and the red of the cardinals...and go to the zoo for others... thanks for all you do.
Absolutely gorgeous! Watercolor looks like so much fun! I paint in acrylics but am going to have to try this! Thank you for masterfully presenting this video!
Absolutely beautiful! I love love your techniques which I can easily follow. I have been watching your videos for the past 3 months and I have to say you have given me the confidence to continue painting. Thank you soo much.
Masterful exposition of focal point . The art of the expertise following the " keep it simple " universal rule ! Thank you Loise for such a clear explanation!
Louise , thank you so much for these tips, as a beginner I tend to put so much detail, and at the end you don't know where to watch in my paintings, some times less y more and this is a perfect example.
Thank you so so so much for this tutorial. I've always painted my birds very very loosely because I had no idea how to do the feathers and ive been so intimated for so long. I now feel so confident to go in on the detail . So glad I found your channel. Thank you 💚 xxxx
Beautiful Galah! Actually I love your detailled paintings a lot. This combination focussed with detaille and out of focus with less detaille works well. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video, thank you. You are incredibly talented Louise. I look forward to your video each week, they are inspiring. Thank you from Ireland x 🖌🎨
The painting is magnificent , it was a very helpful , informative tutorial, I was fascinated watching your process. The galahs are such beautiful birds
You answered one of my prayers!!! I have a Rose Breasted Cockatoo, and want to paint him in watercolors!! Thank you! Do you ever paint Amazon’s? I just lost my Nikki, yesterday, I’m heartbroken. She was an amazing girl! I also have an African Grey, and 2 MaCaws. A B&G and a Catalina. Thank you!
Beautiful Louise - I love watching you use only 3 colours, it gives amazing cohesion to the painting. I have started to be a bit irritated with some works where heaps of colours are listed! I know in some styles of painting it works . . but. I have ordered a Quiller book - not the same one as yours - and hope to learn more techniques. Take care and enjoy your weekend!
Thanks Nettie! I avoided mixing in the past but I'm excited about it now. I'm so happy we can all learn and grow together. You have a fabulous weekend too.
Oh Louise you had me laughing my head off with those bloopers (and my hubby tells me I dont have a sense of humour!)...you better watch out they might overtake the actual painting!!🤭🤭🤭 Seriously though, that gallah was stunning (as I might add were all the others you did), they are characters arent they as are the noisy minors tapping at your window. How goes your studio is it finished yet? You wont know yourself. Have a happy day and cheers from WA🤗🥰🤗💜
Hi there, I love Galahs, I saw them while in Australia, such a beautiful bird, and yes noisy. Lol. I just joined your patreon, I don’t do as much watercolors than some other mediums, so I’m excited to learn more from you
Thank you for this very lovely, well-explained tutorial, I enjoyed every minute of it. Would you be able to do a video that shows how you stretch your paper before you paint on them? Thank you.
Louise, I love your videos! Do you happen to know anything concerning the fact that Arches, using animal byproduct in theirs sizing, supposedly contributes to that sizing possibly "spoiling"? I've heard that this is why we get those random, funny spotting and odd areas with the Arches paper that refuse to absorb paint. I am unaware of the validity of this information, but I am very curious! Xoxo

The little bird at the end was a Noisy Miner. They are honey eaters. They're bossy little birds and they can be noisy. If there is a predator in the garden they all chirp excitedly at the same time. We have a python in our garden and they always alert me to its position. 😝
@@LouiseDeMasi A python is not a snake I'd like to see. Happy you have a natural alarm system in the Noisy Miner. Thx for answering my question and for your amazing videos.
What a beautiful painting indeed :) I also use Arches 640gsm cold pressed watercolor paper. What I noticed is that this beautiful thick paper stays wet for a real long time which makes my painting wet on wet all the time for me. How do you suggest to handle this issue when you want to get hard edges like you did before you blew dry the picture? Thank you :)
Thanks Georgina. I mention in the video - I knew I wanted Quin Red for the pink feathers. I needed a grey for the wings so I chose Cobalt Turquoise as the complimentary to Quin red and that made a beautiful grey.
