I am another old guy, and climbing isn't easy for me. I am able to do it, but it is a bit of a struggle, so I began looking for alternatives. I didn't like using steps, and ladders are way too much trouble. Nothing seemed to make getting into the tree any easier for me until I finally realized that I could hoist myself into the trees using a pulley system with a progress capture device. Now, I can get my old, lazy butt into the trees without any struggle at all, and I can use my pulleys to assist in hauling game uphill or to dress game.
I don't have links to everything, but this is what I use: CT Quick Up+ Ascender, Petzl Grigri+, Weaver Adjustable Foot Loop, Petzl Roll Clip Z carabiner w/pulley, 9mm Blackout Rappel rope (from Hang Free) and Petzl Steel Quick Link. Another good option would be the CT Quick Roll Ascender which has a pulley built in. That would eliminate the need for the Roll Clip Z. I got them from assorted places to get the best price. You should be able to google them and find them pretty easily. Thanks for watching!
You could always carry a throw ball and line and set up the rope when you get there. The preset ropes save a lot of work and time during season though. Thanks for watching!
@@GrumpyOldHunterThat is an option but an unattractive one to do in the dark. I am probably leaning more towards something like the Panther Quick Climber. I hunt private land so I could preset some trees but prefer to be a bit more mobile. You have a good system.
Not for me seems like too much to fiddle with, hate sticks looking for an alternative, panther quick climb might be my next venture, good demonstration though
There are people who use climbing platforms with the JX3. I didn't even consider it because (like climbers) you almost have to use only trees that have no branches. In my experience, climbing the rope has been the easiest method except having preset climbing sticks. There is another method I might try to perfect using a hand and knee ascender. But, that would be even more equipment to "fiddle with". Thanks for watching!
As a fan of the JX3 it was good to see someone SRT with it. Great video. Thanks.

@GrumpyOldHunter thanks Grumpy, I appreciate it 🤝
It definitely sounds more complicated than it probably is. It may be too dependent on preset lines in trees for me.
