I have a cooper s r53, i don't think it's any better looking than mine, definitely missing the hood scoop like on mine! I really like the steering wheel though!
I leased 2 Minis with Manuel trans. For the 3rd one they didn’t have any Manuel’s and didn’t know when they would get one. I bought the automatic and would never go back to shifting gears.
Excellent review! Thanks for that. There's a lot I really like about the F66, but there are some things that I think are real issues for me: One, the rear of the car. I don't care for the tail lights, the black trim, and the concavity under that trim piece. Not only do these details feel out of place on the car (i.e. they aren't harmonious with the design), they're not characteristic MINI design details. I'm also wondering whose idea it was to hide the exhaust on a sporty hot hatch...that decision will never make any sense to me. Two, the rose gold trim (everywhere). I think my not-quite-young-anymore mom would love it, but it's not a finish I want on my car. To me, it makes the car look like a handbag with wheels. Three, the interior CMF (color, materials and finishes). I love the physical design of the interior. I get the references to the original MINI, and for me it all works...other than all of the conflicting patterns and colors. That clean, simple interior works best when the designers allow it to stand on its own. I've seen too many of these F66 cars, and the J01, with busy interiors. I certainly don't want blue MINI badges in a red car, for example. I also don't want every color and pattern under the sun on my seats. MINI need to back off of the CMF overload and let the interior physical design be the star...it can stand on its own. The F56 was criticized for having unnecessarily busy geometry (outside and inside), but the new F66 and J01 are still busy; they just do busy in a different way. Overall, I really like this car...I feel like it's 90% there. I'm anxious to see how MINI "fix" the rear of the car, and how long it takes them to do so.
I'm pretty sure hiding the exhaust pipes is just a "cost saving" strategy for them, since all the coopers have the same one one (Cooper, Cooper S, JCW, and the Cooper E). So that makes it cheaper for them to produce, although its a shame we lost that sporty feels. Not to mention we definitely lost the "premium feeling" (although not the premium price, smh), of this little car :( I only hope they return to some nicer material in future iterations...
So glad I found a tall driver's review. Would you consider the car for yourself? I'm also 6'6"/1,99m and I'm thinking whether to buy the outgoing model or to wait for the new, 2024 one. Turns out in the outgoing model I can't properly sit in the sun roof variant, but the hard top one has plenty of head space. Cheers!
Ive had minis since 2003, but this is the end of the rod for me. They have over simplified the design, lost its retro look and made the interior look cheap and tacky. What's with the fabric on the dash and doors? Easy to get dirty, difficult to clean. Terrible.
Obviously the center point of the interial is the screen, but I hate the drive mode. Driving stick should be the center of driving a car, now you make it look like a switch from a washing machine.
Shift paddles, hood scoop, double exhaust and much more - where have the typical Mini Cooper style elements gone? And who/how is supposed to clean the crap off the dashboard? For me, it's a total design failure, a shame, I wanted to buy the convertible next year.
Shift paddles come in the JCW trim, this is the basic version. Besides the exhaust and hood scoop, what else is "missing" when you say much more? Not sure how much crap you usually get on your dashboard, but on my wife's daily it's dust and the occasional croisant crumbles which are both frightenedly easy to clean 🤷♂
I love the colour so much, wish there’s other option of interior. It’s too much colour and look like will be difficult to clean to a basic one you can just wipe down
I cannot believe how cheap the interior looks - that centre console is just a mess of joints and angles and cheap looking grey plastic. I like the effort to simplify the exterior design but I don't think it worked at the back of the car. I would say overall it looks like a 25K car and this one is nearly 50K - that has to be a joke, surely ?
@@tcaudiobooks737when I saw the ad online this instantly caught my eye I originally aim to get the off white mini cooper for years. And seeing this in person is just as nice
Ive come to terms with the back. I love the rounded simplier front. Looks more porsche-ish. The interior is killing it for me. Where are the knobs? Where is the shifter?! Blue and gold? Wtf?
Unless you pay extra for the cheap little pop up head up display, virtually everything is on a touch screen in the middle of the dashboard. Even then the designers are more interested in making that a childish " experience ". This looks like a seriously dangerous car to drive.
WOWWWW THIS IS UNBELIEVABLY DISGUSTING. The rear looks like shite. Where is the Mini identity? This looks like a small budget car. The dashboard is pathetic. The cream color logo is hideous. Driving an F60 now and it is the best. This ‘new’ Mini is such a disappointment to the fans.
Love the simplicity of the new modern looking Mini. Exterior and interior both are totally awesome. 🔥🥰❤️🔥👌👍
I can't wait to get this car this year!
"And gone was that premium feeling"
Fantastic and beautuful vehicle. From Brazil.
why does the outgoing version feel like it uses more quality materials
Beautiful Skoda… where is the mini??
not for me, the back is the deal breaker. Naaaah
Looks great honestly. Unbelievable that out of all the available colors, they used this one to promote the car…
I love the colour it’s what caught my eyes
With the exception of the JCW trim, this is actually the most ordered color for the Basic and Favorite trims...

I think it looks nice the rear looks very refined. I would not buy it because they offer no manual transmission in this generation

what happened to the classic Union Jack design rear lights that made the Mini stand out??
i much preferred that light design too
Since the rear lights are full LEDs, you can change the design. One of them is the UJ.

Get the outgoing model better made and cheaper.

It is such a disappointment. No more Mini identity. The finishing is extremely cheap looking.
Sorry, the previous one was much nicer 😢

To you perhaps.

50? Starting price the cheapest model with this colour is under 24k
This is the basic version which costs nowhere near 50k
The interiors are way too much futuristic… previous model was better
Who brings children to a car show and lets them play with cars as if they are buying one
Perhaps the parents wouldn’t come at all if they weren’t allowed there I guess , it’s all about sales
What is the colour?
Ocean Wave Green, looks lovely in person.

Это не Mini, а какой-то Hyndai...
This is literally just a facelift. I daily the previous version model year 2022 and it is frightening how many parts they reuse...
Sorry, every time I think it might not be so bad, there is a picture of the rear or the interior. No, I can't like it 😕

You should check that it's a pre production model before commenting
They usually label them as preproduction, this one wasn’t.
This is the *4th generation Mini Cooper hatchback.
The child thougt it is a top car 😂
Toy car 😊
UGH!
Such poor quality; plastics everywhere.
Just awful!

It's disgusting...no exhaust or bonnet vent...previous model was the best..
The design team of mini said this car has to aim at ecologists customers LOL
I agree! That’s why I have to grab the 2024 haha
Wait until you see the SPORT trim level, looks great!
F56 is better than this one
very ugly car
My 2024 mini is much nicer, especially the interior.
femenine choice? Talking about stereotypes!
