Banknotes: 100 lei Ion Luca Caragiale theater manager, he used to laughed about politicians; 50 lei is Aurel Vlaicu, he was airplane constructor like Henri Coanda who invented the jet engine. 10 lei, it's Nicolae Grigorescu, the best Romanian painter... They are PLASTIC money too! It's called polymer banknote, Romania was the first in Europe to use them, and 2nd in the world after Australia.
About money, (maybe a boring question): Are you thinking about your pension anytime & how to save for your retirement? Do you intend to become self-sufficient & on your own property?
I emphasize with Sara on the zippidy-do-dahs of the busy city. They race around, only to stop ahead of me at the next red light. I figure that it's not great for their gas mileage, brakes or cortisol levels. And I try to be grateful that I now have the gift of time.
I think I understand your fatalistic approach to breaking down and van repairs. Basically you budget for the inevitable things going wrong and because you don’t have a strict time plan, there’s no real worry about how long it might take to put things right. I can see how that can be liberating and avoids anxiety and negative overthinking. It’s a really good way to look at it.
I do not look forward to driving in Eastern Europe, but can't wait to taste the culture. Well done on the bridge Sarah. Active Retiree is the life!! 🫡🚚
Just ignore the reply, it is just some weird Romanian humor 😁 You will fit in perfectly, just let the mad drivers to pass you in peace and you are doing fine and we are sure you fell in love with Estern Europe. People speak very good English there and also good German. 👌
1:36 Haha I'm the same way. If parking requires a cell phone, I'm either not paying or not going there and will avoid all the businesses in the area perhaps for years because even if they change it back to normal coin meters I'll have been over it a long time ago.
Cire is French for wax, so that car wash word that Google couldn't translate is probably wax. I love your videos. As you can see, I'm still catching up, but watching them in order. If I'm not in my little off-grid cabin, I'm touring Europe in my Pössl, which is a very similar layout to yours.
Another thoroughly enjoyable video. I laughed (again) seeing the sassy walk across the suspension bridge and I imagine I might be too scared to cross 😮 The scenery is astounding and I can’t wait to visit. Your video production is such I that feel I’m sitting opposite you! Phenomenal work!!
I would say one thing we generally do well here in the UK is 'giving way' when driving. The idea being that your giving way to someone will be repaid further on in your journey when you're looking for someone to give way to you. I've been in many countries where people behave like selfish morons behind the wheel and I'm sat there thinking if only you learned to give way, you'd be on your way much quicker. For sure, some Brits are arseholes behind the wheel, but to give way on the road is something other countries could perhaps learn from us.
Give away on the road sounds amazing, people around the globe should definetely learn that! We have heard so many good things about driving in England (except very narrow streets sometimes), Brtis are so polite drivers and traffic is calm and relaxing. Thanks for your comment.
Alba Iulia is a small city, it's a town, far from a major city. It's not a clown, it's a theatre mask.
Excellent as usual.you are living a life we can only dream of.But we live it vicariously. Thanks
