    ABOUT US:
    Oakes Daylilies is a family-owned daylily farm that's been in business for three generations. Our daylilies grow in home gardens, city parks and botanical gardens across the nation- including Hawaii and Canada. We are known in the industry as Daylily Experts and grow over 1000 varieties of daylilies on nearly 70 acres in East Tennessee. But over 50 years ago, we started just like you-with one daylily in a home garden.
    .............................
    FARM-FRESH TO YOU!
    When it comes to daylily plants, bigger is better! All of the plants we ship will be three fans or larger - two or three times (or more) what you might receive from other companies. Larger plants get established faster and produce more blooms quicker.
    All of your plants will be freshly dug when you order. The leaves are trimmed and the plants are washed and air-dried. Your daylilies will be out of the ground less than 48 hours before they’re headed your way.

    good video and as a subscriber, I would suggest that you put a list in your notes of the products you’re talking about and not just a link so that we can screenshot them! 😉

    What happened to the stratified and non-stratified seeds you planted 8 months ago from the seed harvesting video?

      Somebody (not naming names!) forgot to water them and they did not make it. We intend to try it again in a couple of weeks

    Unrelated question, but how worried are you about the daylily fall midge making its way to the US a few years ago? Do you think it will become a major problem?

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies  3 місяці тому

      Obviously we hope it doesn't become a problem, but at this point we really don't know much about that, so we can't really say what to expect.

      @@OakesDaylilies Thanks, appreciate the answer. Do you think seeds need stratification, or can they go straight from the pods to planting?

      @@katiem9644 There is some mixed thought on that in the gardening community. We shot a video last year that discusses it in detail. Hope this helps: ua-cam.com/video/tAvG-WtYl0E/v-deo.html

    Hello there. I have some Orange day Lillie's and I have 3 bulbs that all flowered this year. Is it possible to make more shoot next year or will I always get 3 come up? These flowers are my late grandfather's and grandmother's from 35+ years ago. I'd love to have a plant pot full of them. Is it possible to gather seeds from the flowers or can I cut the bulb in half or do something to multiply them? Thanks for any help and suggestions.

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies  2 місяці тому

      We love the thought of inherited daylilies. We have many of those as well and they are truly special. If I were you, I'd just divide them. That way you'd be maintaining the exact plant. If you take seeds, they'd be mixed with something else.

      @@OakesDaylilies I planted 3 bulbs in the pot, how to divide those? Do I cut them in half or will more bulbs have grown under the soil when I pull them? Thanks for helping.

    • @OakesDaylilies
      @OakesDaylilies  2 місяці тому

      @@FatGremlin Daylilies are not bulbs. They grow from tuberous roots and are fairly easy to cut through with a sharp object. Here's a video on how to divide: ua-cam.com/video/UZApXh_a7sk/v-deo.html

      @@OakesDaylilies hmmm. That's very strange. I wish I could post pictures to show you. I'll have to pull up when they die down and go from there. Thanks for your help. Would be so nice having a whole pot full of orange day lilies that are from 35+ years back. I was probably mistaken when planting them.
