Are the Asian gangs in Gwinnett/Doraville/Atlanta still active? I remember hearing about them quite a bit from like 1998-2004. Especially in Buford, Norcross, and Doraville (over by Buford Hwy Farmers Market. I’m in the Duluth area and I don’t really see any that seem like bangers, but then again they may just keep it on the DL now.
Nah they mostly died out, same with Latino gangs
@@ima8533 Thanks for the reply. Atlanta never had the gang culture that other cities has/had. During the early 2000’s La Gran Familia was very active but slowly died out over time. A raid by Gwinnett PD and federal authorities in 2015 was one of the final nails in their coffin. The Asian gangs were mostly small, loose affiliates of TRG, Asian Boyz, and other Asian Crips. I’m not sure how serious they were, they may have been more low key than their counterparts in other parts of the country. Definitely not as notable from a media perspective as the LA (Long Beach, Van Nuys, SGV, Orange County), Lowell, MA, or Minnesota gangs of the 90’s, 2000’s, and present. Like all things in history gangs had a rise in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s followed by a slow decline from early 2000’s-now, but like we never could’ve predicted covid, we can’t predict their future. There’s definitely still Asian organized crime in the Atlanta area, think massage parlors and small protection rackets (www.ajc.com/news/local/feds-gang-members-terrorized-korean-businesses-gwinnett/GVl97SzckY0IgBC3n0SkiP/?outputType=amp).
There may be a new wave of Asian gangs, or gangs in general, in the near future.
Most gangs didn’t survive the Rico charges implemented by the GBI
Mainly Vietnamese gangs factions from BTk up that way in early til 1998, then the younger ones factions coming from the crips gangs such as ABZ, AGC and ACB. most Vietnamese and cambodia some Laos. They dying out as far as Visibility today up the areas you mentioned. Korean like Vic wasn't a lot of bangers in lated 80s and early 90s Mostly Vietnamese do all the shooting and killing in the NEWS here in the A but Down southside cambodia and laos they making noises as well.

I grew up in Lawrenceville/Gwinnett and I can say AGC was definitely very active. It was a lot of Asian Gangs in Atlanta back in those days. They had Georgia Loko Bloods on the south side
