It's so weird, I definitely had a wayy different experience to you, but I was only able to come put of my shell like 2 years ago when I started sixth form. Bullying is like the worst thing, that's why when people say I wish I was a kid again, I honestly can't relate 😂
When I went to Secondary School, I had to go to one that was far away from my area so I had no friends, and I was very quiet to begin with, so I had trouble making friends. When I tried to at first, the group ended up turning their backs on me and this then turned into bullying, where pretty much the entire class would treat me with sh*t. I told teachers about this, they moved me to a different class where I did make friends, but the bullies would still harass me at break time, so I tried to change schools to the local ones my friends went to, but I couldn't. In Year 10 I was moved back to the terrible class and there, first of all, one of my friends who was there, had also turned his back on me, but in such a way that he had knowingly provoked me to the point where I said stuff to him, which ended up with the entire school hating me for about a month, and it really made me want to just give up. Not only that, but the people who had bullied me back in Year 7 were in that class, and I still remember how this scumbag was trying to get the stupid name relevant again, by telling everyone about it. Yes, I wanted to give up. But then I took a step back, to look at how pointless these people are, and so for the second half of Year 10 I decided to ignore them and managed to move back up to the class with all of the kind people. I'll be going there this week, Year 11 starts :D

I used to ask my mum to not go to school on certain days it was awful and awful people like that will try to shrink someone down to who they are not to feel powerful...that is disturbing and wrong and it's worse when certain teachers do nothing about it! My story very much echoed yours - I didn't tell anyone, I was called an attention seeker by teachers, and many of them just stood and watched me being bullied. Then in sixth form, I was bullied by an actual A Level teacher. It's horrible to think of it, but look at you now! You are changing the lives of kids all over, especially those who would've never dreamt of going to a top university because of their background. And to anyone going through this - you need to love yourself, as Ibz said, because unfortunately the people around you aren't showing you love right now. well.. I was bullied as well and I had to take the matter into my own hand and moved school where the guidance counselor actually did her job. I didn't care for being seen as a teacher's pet or something like that bc if I hadn't done what was need to be done, I would've committed a suicide. sometimes embracing my aries rising's sense of entitlement pays. I practically demanded the teachers to protect me by separating me from some ppl during a group discussion and even transfered me to another class. they did thank god. yea.. sometimes we have to actively remind the teachers their jobs.
I 100% agree teachers should never stand and let you get bullied and they should support you, but teachers HAVE to say the information you tell them can't remain confidential due to safe guarding policies in education. You can request for them to not tell your parents but they can't guarantee that if your safety is at risk.

I am a new qualified teacher and I wanted to point out that teachers are not allowed to promise students that they will keep things confidential because they are obliged to inform the safeguarding officer in the school and therefore they would be lying to the students. However, that does not mean you can't confide in them because they are meant to help you and help you deal with whatever situation you going through, if anyone is getting bullied please seek and help amd remember it will get better. (I know this from my own experience).
This is so heart breaking because this is the dilemma i am in now a days. I am confused between two sixthforms with one having mostly minorities and one less population of minorities and everyone I have asked says to consider the racism and bullying. This really scares me for my siblings as well not knowing what they would have to endure being a muslim or a minority. It's been escalating and they just turned my boss against me. I've been down cause I'm trying to get through finals and looking for another coding job. Everyone wants a degree and experience. I am sick just thinking about going back into that place.
Love your vids, have binge watched them over the past couple of days!!! Just a note on the teacher saying 'no' to keeping what you wanted to confess confidential. I work with young people and we're always told that we have to say no to that question because if you disclose something like you're being abused then it's our duty to refer it to the police and social services. It's our duty of care to protect people from any harm which is probably why she said she couldn't make any promises It doesn't mean they would tell your parents about drinking etc!!

It baffles me how people could dislike your personality and way of being. You're so full of life, witty and warm and genuine; these bullies frankly seem bland and immature and just plain nasty. Clearly, they had their own issues and projected that on to someone else.
Thank you for sharing this experience. I'm sure many of us can relate and it reminds anyone going through something similar that there are people who can help even if it doesn't feel like it at the time.

I have been a victim of bulling and it's horrible and it's not over but tbh they can fuck off because I couldn't care less what they have to say because what they have to say is so stupid and is just a pile of shit ngl. So when I was getting bullied I just use to always remember that it's not true and they are just insecure about them selves so they just pour all of there stress and anger and someone else and it's just so bloody stupid. I remember when the boys from stepney tried to start something aswell, that was the first time I actually encountered something more serious, lets say in the 'boy' world in our area. Happy Birthday, Ibz!!! thank u for posting this. I am being bullied right now at work cause I like to code quietly and I don't like the loud partying environment. It's been escalating and they just turned my boss against me. I've been down cause I'm trying to get through finals and looking for another coding job. Everyone wants a degree and experience. I am sick just thinking about going back into that place.
Love your vids, have binge watched them over the past couple of days!!! Just a note on the teacher saying 'no' to keeping what you wanted to confess confidential. I work with young people and we're always told that we have to say no to that question because if you disclose something like you're being abused then it's our duty to refer it to the police and social services. It's our duty of care to protect people from any harm which is probably why she said she couldn't make any promises It doesn't mean they would tell your parents about drinking etc!!

Thanks for making a video about this issue--when I started secondary school and through all of it really, I was bullied and I was made to feel like it wasn't a big deal and I got used to being treated like s***. I even had the same being treated like crap by my entire year the entire time. So I'm really glad you made this video.
