I don’t have a sensitivity to lights. I am sensitive to smells and sounds. I should start wearing sunglasses though. 3 advantages 1. Sensitivity issues 2. Eye contact 3. It’s mysterious and stylish so it makes you more attractive.
its a good idea.. i am starting to build a collection and if you pay for high UV rating as opposed to cheap pound sunglasses, your eyes will be protected
The place i find i struggle the most is Asda, the LED lights, high ceilings and all the noises, i have started taking headphones, i think i will need to invest in prescription sunglasses though, not officially diagnosed but since i was told i was possibly on the spectrum i have become less depressed and more happy to be who i am, thank you for sharing these ♥
My daughter is 21, we've had issues with her all her life that are only now getting diagnosed as Aspergers, especially overstimiulation , the eye contact thing, and some OCD. She's very, very different from nonverbal people with Autism I worked with 30 years ago, when we didn't know as much,so I completely missed it as a parent. So glad to have found your channel, i think it will help me understand. Everything is starting to make more sense.
You've made this course look like all the other scam courses on the internet, marketed it the same way using the same manipulative words, and targeted it towards autistic people. Well done.
I wear earplugs when I enter the outside world. I wear sunglasses when there is sun. It is an excuse to be protected from the outside world as much as possible. But when the weather is not sunny I cannot wear them.
@@alenboudreau2697 this is a good reminder! I have some light blue lenses and I am going to try them at work next week. The overhead lights KILL my head.
I was diagnosed yesterday and when I found out I was on the spectrum I laughed for a minute straight. Lots of feels, some initial disbelief, but the comforting feeling that remained overall was "this explains so much."
i wear sunglasses and earphones when i go shopping because i cant stand the lighting and i find the horrible music so loud i cant block it out which makes me stressed and then i end up focusing on it even more so i always have my own music playing when im out
LOL omg I just had a lightning bolt memory. I transferred to a large well-known university and I ALWAYS wore my ray bans on campus. I remember thinking I particularly loved it bc I could judge everyone as I passed without them knowing, and I didn’t have to make eye contact with anyone. Hahahaha here I am 10 years later just starting to realize I’m autistic lol!
That is so relatable! I always considered myself pretty perceptive but I never pieced together the obvious clues until my therapist recently mentioned my glaring sensory processing issues. Several tests later and I'm definitely a confirmed aspi. How did I not figure this out sooner?? Welcome to the club, I guess :) 😺
One nice little system I've found is the sunflower lanyard scheme. The main super markets and other places do this scheme. You can pick one up free from customer services and whenever you need it you put it round your neck. Most people don't notice it but the staff do. Then if you ask for advice or you're looking a bit lost they are extra helpful.
earplugs are my best friend ever! i dont leave the house without them... even with them in, and at the highest sound blocking range, i can still hear everything lol but its finally bearable 😁
I've used sunglasses more times than I can name. Recently, I noticed my vision wasn't as good so now I wear prescription glasses, but I have two clip on sunglasses that I can use if I feel I need them. I might get prescription sunglasses as well. If I'm waiting for an appointment I also use my phone, gameboy advance (yes, I still play it😁), or a book. Music is awesome, too for me to help with filtering most noise(s). Thanks for the vid.
G'day, mate, I'm from Australia and I have Asperger's Syndrome. Thanks so much for making these videos. I've been sharing your videos with some of my friends to help them understand my condition better. I have difficulties with managing my emotions, eye contact, and social skills. I love all things cameras and film making and I love heavy metal music, bands like Rammstein. I hate cigarette smoke, it's one of my big hypersensitivities, and I hate the taste and texture of pumpkin, and I'm absolutely terrified of needles. Cheers.
I really want to get my referral sorted and get added to the waiting list for an ASD assessment but I’ve had such bad anxiety about even starting the process because I’m scared they won’t believe me
Ahh!! I have just the thing. I made a video guide to getting your easement :): ua-cam.com/play/PLsnq_HpT7puSMrw4ZBMu21ImFvExNH6rv.html hopefully this helps you!!
I use Both “Ear defenders” and “Sunglasses” Fidget item’s and “Chew on item’s” as well. I also Listen to Music 🎶 underneath my Ear defender’s” to help with my Severe Anxiety and to help with my “Hypersensitivity to Loud Noise My hearing Spikes and everything I Hear is Painfully Loud for awhile I carry all these things with me in my Mini Backpack. Everywhere I go. 😅 🥰 🎧 so I’m always ready
Sadly, this video highlights why I feel like an outsider in the autism community; why I feel I can't get any help or support for my ASD. I'm lucky enough *not* to have any sensory issues or "shyness," so the only really helpful tips of the 5 were planning things (which my ADHD obstructs) and getting a buddy (which I can't afford). My ASD is about not being able to read people, and not responding in neuro-typical ways. Where can I get help and support for just those aspects of ASD?
Have you tried the sunflower lanyard scheme? I use that in super markets and it saves allot of frustration as the staff are extra helpful when they see you are wearing one.
My reading glasses tint in the sun. So it is not so obvious when I enter a building with bright lights. Yes the lenses are dark but I can just say my eyes are light sensitive when someone asks.
I love it. My son hasn't been diagnosed yet. But im pretty sure he has Asperger's. My brother has it and he has all the signs. He is 9 yrs old right now but thankfully with me experience helping my brother and my brothers advice i am doing pretty well. Thank you for this channel. Now i have more support. Wish i had all this when my brother going thru it. 😢 thanks again ❤❤❤
Literally locked myself in the toilet in college for 3 weeks before coronavirus lockdown. Just talking about the amount of people judging me even though they weren’t. Then just wondered how I would how I would exit the college
The coping slide maybe could do with a different colour? Maybe it’s me I found it difficult to read it. Is me or do you talk slightly quick sometimes? Sometimes I wish people would get get to the point
@@TheAspieWorld I think it's awesome how polite you respond. Every person will experience your presentation differently. I think you are doing an awesome job!
I collect backpacks like my cuz collected shoes lol n i have a mental check list of must haves. I dont have sunglasses at the moment and im working on getting better travel headphones cause i prefer Bluetooth since cords keep getting caught on everything which can cause a meltdown especially if it ends up breaking my headphones. I also have lotion, fabric bandaides, hand sanitizer not jus to sanitize but if i get something sticky on my hand and cant wash them the sanitizer helps remove it and keeps me calm, a few napkins/ pocket tissues, a pen and a tiny notebook, mints, an external charger and a plug as an emergency/opportunity option. I need to add snacks. I'm excited about this course hoping to be able to sign up for it soon. This is brilliant.

Exactly what i was thinking! 🦋

I would start with a referral to a specialist for therapy. Thank you so much for the comment!

Yes! A new video
Guys what do you do if you don't have a buddy or don't feel comfortable with a buddy? My husband isn't always available.
Your awesome Dan .. 😁❤️👍
Ive had to use sun glasses the way you described for many years
Along with the lighting, ceilings in stores makes my son uncomfortable
I’d love to see your reviews on Noise Cancelling Headphones.
Yes Dan I'm ready 💪 🙌
How do you get diagnosed for various things if you suspect you have them but are an adult? I don’t want to sound like a hypochondriac to the doctor
You are amazing 👏 ❤ 💖
I need buddy up. Hate goung place i have never been. If i dont know the journey or where to get on and off the bus. I wont go
Buddy systems work so well!! Thank you so much for the comment!
