At the hospital, Dr Ranj visits Kiwa who is in bed on one of the wards. Kiwa is going to be having an operation and needs to have a naso-gastric tube fitted so the doctors can give her special food and medicine. Dr Ranj explains that a naso gastric, or NG tube, is fitted by being placed up Kiwa's nose and then down her throat to her tummy. First Dr Ranj must measure how much tube is needed which he does by measuring from Kiwa's nose to her ear and then down to the bottom of her chest. He then puts some gel on the tube and puts it in her nose. He says it may tickle or make Kiwa cough. Kiwa says it feels funny but Dr Ranj reassures her that she will get used to it. NG tube all fitted, Kiwa sings a song with Dr Ranj about how an NG tube works. Kiwa then gets a special sticker for having being so good during her visit.
Get Well Soon is a show based on children's experiences of going to the doctor. It features five loveable puppet characters that come in to visit the doctor, and through them children get to learn about common health issues. Dr Ranj and his puppet patients explore medical conditions at the hospital using music and humour.
The show is presented by real-life paediatrician Dr Ranj Singh. He helps children to understand how illnesses affect our bodies and to understand a visit to the doctor can help explain symptoms and be the first step to getting better. Each episode sees Dr Ranj open up his surgery to a different child puppet. They are Deep, who is shy and bashful; the inquisitive Riz; Kiwa with her charming self-confidence; boisterous Jobi; and finally sweet Petal.
