    Just installed on my 2003 Toyota Highlander. Note: Use some Trim Restore Serum and take a Qtip and put in channel of rubber. Then get a cloth and locking tweezers and rub the serum in the channel and use these to pull rubber open as my dad put the corners in and started to pop in channel it went in very smoothly. We couldn’t get the auto window off so make sure you click the window up in increments. The front windows worked great by doing this. Thank you for this video! Gotta love YT community!

    Nice job on Video!!! You did exactly what I would have done and you made it look easy. Not easy but it always nice to see someone with gift of being handy. I will still by the WeatherTech as they are by far and away the best.

    Hey,
    You did a great job at milling that down! Most viewers aren’t gonna be able to pull that off!
    BTW, Nice touch with throwing the discarded box out and spooking your dog.
    I’m gonna install a set on my 2015 GMC Sierra. After viewing your video and your final takeaway, I’m a little bit reluctant at installing these even though Weather Tech makes great products. When known, I’ll letcha know my final verdict.
    Take Care

      I think they will work out fine,
      I have a set on my Tundra that worked out great. I believe this application was probably more the exception to the rule for weather tech.

    Thank you for the great video! Question, after the install, were you able to fold the front view mirror in ward? Does it hit the side protruding out? I just ordered for my 2019 Highlander and 2015 Subaru Outback. Thank you!

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  3 роки тому +1

      To be honest I really haven't thought about that, I think they fold in fine... If they didn't I'm sure my wife would have complained by now...LOL

    Thanks for the advice
    Unfortunately I got mine for Prius
    And requires clips on for the rear
    I wished was watching your video
    Before, weather tech claims they are put on easy...no no I don't think so. This is a very popular car on the road and they don't provide a video
    Thanks again for info...

    My 2016 Highlander has some wind noise and wonder if the vent shades make it better or worse. Thinking of a bug deflector but worry about added wind noise.

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  2 роки тому

      I think they add their own little bit of wind noise.. not bad, but to say it doesn’t would not be factual.

    I have the same problem on my 2006 Sequoia. I was thinking of doing exactly what you did but with a dremel because I don’t have a table saw. I’m just hesitant to do because I know I’m going to mess it up with the dremel. Can’t think of any other way.

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  Рік тому +1

      The table saw method is a bit sketchy I must admit, and I did run a few test cuts with Wood to get it just right before I committed to the real cut.. the trick to getting it right no matter what you use is building a jig of some sort that will re-produce the same result each time.

    • @FisherCatProductions
      @FisherCatProductions 9 місяців тому

      Sand it down with 120 or 220 grit. You can definitely do it by hand without messing it up. I would think a power sander that could be set on low speed would be easy enough to control, especially with the finer grit.

    Did you cut down the entire flange? or just the thicker (optic line) portion of the part?

  • @marpo
    @marpo 3 роки тому

    Is that a table saw? I thought you were going to sand down the thickness of the part that slides into your window channels. Is that what you did or did you simply take the height?

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  3 роки тому

      it was a table saw, I ran a few test cuts on a thin piece of wood and made adjustments until I got the result in depth and thickness I was looking for. I basically reduced the width until it was all the same-ish anyway.

    • @marpo
      @marpo 3 роки тому

      @@Yellowdogsworld Oh, I see what you did now. It's kinda hard to tell what's going on there. A sander would be my choice, but your way makes a more uniform width. I bought some WeatherTech's for my van and the wind whistles in like the window is open. I'll try this. Thanks

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  3 роки тому

      I must admit the way I did it is a bit sketchy and potentially dangerous... so be mindful of the fingers. This is the main reason I didn't get really specific on the setup for the saw... but it did do the job.

    I hear those inside rain guard can fade your tint’s and damage window etc

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  10 місяців тому +1

      The only problem we’ve had was the back door shades adhesive giving out and losing them going down the road when we rolled the windows down, so they are gone now. The front ones have held up fine, no issue with tint or anything else.

    • @Yellowdogsworld

      I don't think so, if you tried to remove them you would end up with a "discolored" area where they were.

    So I guess no problem if you have window tints, no peeling of the tint

    • @Yellowdogsworld
      @Yellowdogsworld  3 роки тому

      Not so far,
      Look at it this way, the guard is coming in contact with the outside portion of the window, the tint is on the inside. Other than added "pressure" from the inside weather strip, that's about all you have to be concerned with.
